Priest Predators in DC - "In Plain Sight"

From the Substack Account of Fr. Michael Briese

TAKE A HARD LOOK

Last evening I received a message about another priest in the Archdiocese of Washington whose own wants and sexual desires were one of his priorities. He was the late Fr Brainard (d). He was the Pastor at Epiphany Parish in the Georgetown Area of Washington DC. He died many years ago.

Around 2000 Fr Brainard tried to force himself on a young work man. But another priest pulled Fr Brainard’s off that young man. After Brainard’s death, people discovered he had an abundance of pornography. But there is more…

The worldly renown homosexual sexual predator and rapist, and dismissed Archbishop of Washington Teddy McCarrick had Fr Brainard removed and placed “ In Residence” at St Bernadette Parish in Silver Spring Maryland. No further action was taken against Fr Brainard.

While The Great Homosexual Predator, “Uncle” Teddy McCarrick was serving as the Archbishop of Washington, he replaced the sexual attacker Fr Brainard with the now internationally shamed ordained homosexual predatory priest Fr Adam Park. Later on Fr Park served as Secretary to the corrupt lying Archbishop of Washington Cardinal Wuerl. Wuerl made a costly mistake when publicly he claimed he had known nothing about his predecessor, the credibly accused homosexual assailant “Teddy McCarrick. In short Cardinal Wuerl lied for a rapist! What good man would do that? What faithful ordained Catholic man would do that?

The matter of sexual assault by Fr Brainard was known by then Director of Priest Personnel Fr Michael Fisher. Fisher is now the Bishop of Buffalo NY. Brainard’s actions became known to the current Bishop of Richmond, VA, Bishop Knestout. As mentioned above no punishment was taken against Fr Brainard except his removal from Epiphany Parish in Georgetown, DC.

Finally, most of the ordained Catholic clergy mentioned above are known to be homosexuals. All f them have kept quiet about Fr Brainard’s sex abuse. Some of these clergy must face their own actual acts of sex abuse or molesting and or roles in priestly sex abuse cover-ups.

A Possible Indictment?

This weekend clergy and lay Catholics should be aware that the Archdiocese of Washington is now, and has been under investigation by the State of Maryland Criminal investigators. If you have evidence contact the State investigators. These investigations originated because of the horrible, destructive and fatal sexual abuse or assault crimes committed by priests; and of course the decades old and ongoing denials and cover ups carried out by Church clergy and lay staff. Since the 1950s and 1960s and in the decades since then there have been hundreds of criminal actions carried out by our Catholic clergy and knowledgeable Lay Catholics.

Particular individual priests have faced possible criminal indictments. Of course auxiliary bishops, bishops and Cardinals have been or might be a part of past or ongoing investigations. Criminal cover ups require teamwork. For years priests, Laity and our Archbishops have known about the boy and girl— both trusting Catholic kids—-who were raped separately by two different priests in Southern Maryland. They were told to shut up and were falsely accused of being liars—- by the Archdiocese of Washington clergy. Both acts of denial and “accusing the victims” is an old traditional defense strategy used by the Catholic Church. Tragedy is clearly recognizable in the losses of these two kids who took their own lives.

Today’s clergy and maybe Church laypeople are deliberately stonewalling and covering up. The priest who heads the Archdiocese of Washington Archives and a Canon Lawyer, has yet to give State investigators access to the necessary Church documents. Lacking such access makes it nearly impossible for investigators to more thoroughly clarify matters, including the roles carried out by priests and laity in both past or ongoing cover ups. This can include the possible destruction of evidence concerning the above two kids. This Canon Lawyer has been unwilling to work in a more cooperative way with the State of Maryland investigators. He could willingly provide them with greater access to the Archdiocesan Archives. But he chooses not to do thus! Is this unwillingness a crime?

2025 Red Mass Update

A hate-filled New Jersey man arrested before the annual Red Mass in Washington, DC, had at least 200 explosives in a tent outside — and a notebook declaring hatred for ICE and the Supreme Court justices who were due to arrive at the Catholic church, new court documents show.

Louis Geri, 41, had pitched his tent on the steps of the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle — and allegedly told cops who approached him, “You might want to stay back and call the federales, I have explosives,” according to a filing obtained by the Washington Post.

During attempted negotiations with officers, he allegedly handed them a notebook in which he espoused hatred for the Catholic Church, Supreme Court justices, Jews and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to the document.

2025 Red Mass - Possible Attack Twarted

A 41-year-old man was arrested on Sunday outside the Cathedral of Saint Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C., on charges of possessing a Molotov cocktail and making threats to kidnap or injure people, according to police.

The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Louis Geri, whose last known address is Vineland, New Jersey, according to police.

While arresting Geri, officers observed the suspect had "multiple suspicious items" inside his tent, including vials of liquid, according to police.

Job Cuts at Archdiocese of Washington

“The most difficult decision that I have had to make in order to achieve a balanced budget was to authorize a reduction in force to eliminate approximately 30 positions of Pastoral Center staff. Several vacant positions will be left unfilled, and a number of dedicated, hard-working employees will lose their jobs,” he said.

Deacon Mark Asselin Has Gone Dark!

Now, I noticed this about two months ago but forgot to report on it.  What is it?

Well it seems that Deacon Mark Asselin (@deekmark) has gone dark!

What do I mean by that?  He has deleted all of his social media presence on X (aka Twitter).  And it looks like Blue Sky, but I am not 100% certain of this.

So, why do you think?  Well, Deacon Mark has been quite critical of President Trump and supportive of Biden/Kamala.  You can look at my postings of him over the years.

But more importantly, he is a Senior Advisor to the Department of Defense.  Guess he does not want to lose his job.  Wonders if he is slow walking assignments or if he is withholding information?

St. Teresa of Avila (DC) - What is Going On?

A reader informed me that we have another bit of a rogue parish in the Archdiocese of Washington but not that the Cardinal cares, as he is a short timer -- less than two weeks from full retirement.

The parish in question: St. Teresa of Avila located in SE DC.

Now they do a number of things that most parishes do, and should be commended for.  They pray the Rosary, they have a St. Vincent DePaul Society, a prison ministry, etc.

However, there are some issues, as a reader points out.

1. At apx. 1:33 we being to have the liturgical dance group perform in the middle of the Mass.  If my parish can't say the St. Michael Prayer during Mass (and it should not), then time to eliminate the interpretive dance stuff.   And it lasts for almost ten minutes.

2.   At the end of Mass, the Pastor makes a political accusation  stating that the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was fired because of his race and that the Chief of Naval Operations was fired because she was a women.  Does he have some sort of inside information or is he just speculating?  Seems to me that he is simply race and gender baiting.

3.  And finally, he invites the parish to do some sort of Native American prayer circle around the altar.

Update on Whistleblower Fr. Briese in his battle w/ +Gregory

Even though Cardinal Gregory is on his way out, he continues to make life difficult for Fr. Briese.

According to one of the latest articles in Complicit Clergy:

The People of God expect their priests to be “fathers” who guard the flock against corruption and who are voices of truth when it is most needed. The thanks Washington Father Michael Briese received for doing this was to have his faculties revoked over three years ago by Cardinal Wilton Gregory whom he confronted for shielding accused sexual predators, Fathers Adam Park and Carter Griffin, and whom he called upon to address allegations that Gregory himself engaged in homosexual misconduct while he was Archbishop of Atlanta.

Briese has raised concerns that for more than three years, Gregory has ignored the credible sworn affidavits of multiple seminarians reporting that Park preyed on seminarians at the North American College (NAC) in Rome and engaged in homosexual misconduct in the Washington Archdiocese. While Park, who is a defendant in a multi-million-dollar lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court, abruptly resigned from his post as the NAC’s vice-rector in 2021 when these affidavits became public, Gregory continues to cover for him by allowing him to remain in ministry in the Washington Archdiocese. Having been mentored and ordained by ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, and having worked as the personal secretary for disgraced Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Park knows all the intimate secrets of McCarrick, Wuerl, and Gregory and will be protected like Al Capone attempted to protect his accountant from Eliot Ness.
