The Census Follow-up

A few weeks ago, I heard a knock at the door.

I opened it and found a man, in his 30's, who identified himself as a census worker (and showed me his badge). He stated he was there to conduct a follow-up.

I explained to him, in a rather annoyed voice, that I sent in my census form with the appropriate information.

He again explained that he was there for a follow-up.

He asked me for my name, since he wanted to verify the information on the form.

I gave him the number of people living at this residence.

He again asked for my name. I told him that all he needs to know is that there were X number of people living at this residence.

He then asked to verify my phone number. I repeated the number of people living at the residence and then closed the door on him.

I guess the US Census was not satisfied with the fact that I gave them just the number of people who live with me and that they were of the human race.

I wonder what would have happened if I told them I had 13 illegal aliens living with me, in a one bathroom, three bedroom house? I probably would have gotten a fruit basket with an offer of help from both Casa of Maryland and the Maryland Catholic Conference.

A New Blog Link

I discovered another Maryland Catholic blogger had linked my blog. I did not know this until I followed a link, which was unfamiliar to me.

So, let me take this opportunity to thank her and welcome to my blog list: Having Left the Altar.

Once again, we bring you a regular installment of STUPID BIDEN Quotes, the highest elected official in the US, who happens to be Catholyc.

"You know, I'm embarrassed. Do you know the Web site number? I should have it in front of me and I don't. I'm actually embarrassed."

We MUST stop Elena Kagan

There has been so much said about her - unqualified intellectually, wouldn't give a straight answer to the Senate Committee, etc.

So, if you are in Maryland, here is your chance to stop an Obama rubber stamp.

Contact Sen. Mikulski: http://mikulski.senate.gov/Contact/contact.cfm

Contact Ben (Sen. Cardin): http://cardin.senate.gov/contact/email.cfm

I know that they will just rubber stamp whatever the Most Merciful, Lord High Barack Obama, leader of THE REGIME wants, but it is always good to get your views down and let them know you don't appreciate their support of her.

Another Gift from the Most Merficul, Lord High Barack Obama of The

Rush Limbaugh says that "words mean things" and the words you use say much about your beliefs and future actions. Read on...

The change in language was barely noticeable to the average citizen but political observers are raising red flags at the use of a new term "freedom of worship" by President Obama and Secretary Clinton as a replacement for the term freedom of religion. This shift happened between the President's speech in Cairo where he showcased America's freedom of religion and his appearance in November at a memorial for the victims of Fort Hood, where he specifically used the term "freedom of worship."

From that point on, it has become the term of choice for the president and Clinton. In her article for "First Things" magazine, Ashley Samelson, International Programs Director for the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, stated, "To anyone who closely follows prominent discussion of religious freedom in the diplomatic and political arena, this linguistic shift is troubling: "The reason is simple. Any person of faith knows that religious exercise is about a lot more than freedom of worship. It's about the right to dress according to one's religious dictates, to preach openly, to evangelize, to engage in the public square. Everyone knows that religious Jews keep kosher, religious Quakers don't go to war, and religious Muslim women wear headscarves-yet "freedom of worship" would protect none of these acts of faith."

The Latin Mass

A few weeks ago, I got myself up extra early and headed down to The Latin Mass at Old St. John the Evangelist off of Georgia Avenue. It takes place every Sunday at 7:30am.

This was my very first time at this Mass. There were about 100 people in attendance.

It was very different. I spent most of the time trying to understand what the priest was doing and where we were in the Order of the Mass. The priest gave a great sermon. Very clear, concise and really to the point. None of this meandering about.

Now, some people will write it off. I will not. I will try to get myself out of bed early a couple more times before the end of the calendar year and head over there to Mass. Who knows. I may even become a regular.

After Mass, as I was heading towards downtown Silver Spring on Georgia Ave, I discovered a place call the New York Bagel Shop. Great bagels. Their Black Russian bagel, with a smear of cream cheese, is fantastic.

Well, isn't this special...

From LIFESITE News:

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a self-professed devout Catholic, will receive an award from abortion giant Planned Parenthood at a reception Thursday evening. The award will be given in recognition of her efforts in passing the federal health care legislation, and, in particular, for her help in ensuring that the Stupak abortion funding ban was not inserted in the bill.

A spokesperson for Planned Parenthood confirmed with LifeSiteNews.com that Pelosi would be receiving the Champion for Women's Health award, which recognizes "efforts to support women and their reproductive health."

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), and Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) will also receive the award.

So, I am asking Archbishop Wuerl publicly: What else does she need to do to be told by you or another one of our bishops, "You cannot receive Holy Communion in a Catholic Church."

And I bet we will still continue to honor Sr Carol and CHA in this Archdiocese...

Well, the news came through earlier today that

“The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million in federal tax funds, which we’ve discovered will pay for insurance plans that cover any legal abortion,” said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of right-to-life organizations in all 50 states. ”This is just the first proof of the phoniness of President Obama’s assurances that federal funds would not subsidize abortion — but it will not be the last.”

And how many of you actually believed that he would not fund abortions?

Tom Peters over at American Papist has the CHA promo video.

Sr. Carol and CHA really disgust me. They have sold their beliefs out and they have sold those who work in Catholic hospitals, because they know they won't have to provide abortions. Eventually, Catholic hospitals will be required to perform abortions if they want any sort of federal funds/reimbursements. Don't believe me, it will only be a matter of time.

Sr. Carol and CHA are such phonies and those who invited her to speak at Gonzaga and Cardinal McCarrick should be ashamed of themselves by honoring this water carrier for the Most Merciful, Lord High Barack Obama, Leader of THE REGIME.

Archbishop Wuerl is is about time you stand up and condemn her and the CHA. Show us that you really are our shepherd and not a sheep.

Rush once again talks about the DC Opportunity Scholarships..

A few minutes ago, Rush Limbaugh once again talked about how the Most Merciful, Barack Obama, leader of THE REGIME, has fought against the DC Opportunity Scholarships, which would give other children the same opportunities has his kids.

I hope that all of you who voted for the Most Merciful, with children who could have benefited from a DC Opportunity Scholarship, remember that he and his cronies have basically killed it.

I hope that you throw him and the rest of the Dems out of office.

Someone to Vote Against in the Next Election

A reader sent me a copy of an email received from the District 18 Democrats (Richard "Homosexual Rights" Magdaleno, Al Carr, Jeff "Pro-lifers are extremists" Waldsteicher and Ana Sol "There are no illegals" Gutiérrez).

The email focuses on her support of education and in it she states:

Throughout our term, Senator Rich Madaleno, Delegate Al Carr, Delegate Jeff Waldstreicher, and I have fought for our schools, our teachers and--most importantly--our students. Working together, we have:

Helped close the achievement gap by making sure all students are taught by the highest quality teachers (1);
Led the fight against giving taxpayer dollars to religious private schools by actively opposing the BOAST Bill (2);
Provided record funding for K-12 public education every year for the past four years, including the much-needed Geographic Cost of Education Index (GCEI) in additional state funding (3).

Yes, Catholics...how many of you have supported them in the past? Will you continue to support them? Do you like to be double taxed?

The Maryland Catholic Conference which has partnered with her in their support of illegal aliens. It is my hope that they drop their support of her on this and all other issues until she comes around to support Catholic schools. Our schools are closing and she is helping to close them.

Let's remember them in November and throw them out on their butts.

CNVS, the Catholic Standard and Chris Matthews

I have been scanning carefully the last two issues of the Catholic Standard to see if there was any news on the Catholic Network of Volunteer Services (CNVS) dinner. As you remember, the Catholic Standard carried an advertisement for CNVS. The ad stated that Chris "I get a thrill up my leg" Matthews was the keynote speaker at the CNVS annual dinner.

You will also note from reading this blog that the dinner was moved from the original location to an unknown location in Chevy Chase. (I haven't gotten a hold of Muffy and Biff yet, but when I do, I will let you know the location.)

And do you know why this dinner has not been reported to date in the Catholic Standard?

Because they were a Platinum Sponsor of the CNVS Annual Dinner!!

That's right, the Catholic Standard (and in a sense the Archdiocese of Washington) were sponsor's of the dinner. (See above.)

So, not only did CNVS show that they couldn't handle the embarrassment of this by moving the dinner, the Catholic Standard did not report on this, even though they were a key sponsor!

So, here we have the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Washington, sponsoring an event, in which the keynote speaker is an outspoken advocate of abortion and gay marriage.

Way to go Catholic Standard! Way to go Archdiocese of Washington!

Carrying the water for The Most Merciful of the Regime

Once again, Sr. Carol Keehan is once again carrying the water for The Most Merciful, Lord High Barack Obama of THE REGIME:

The Catholic Health Association (CHA) has applauded President Obama’s recess appointment of Harvard pediatrician Dr. Donald Berwick as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Sr. Carol Keehan, D.C., CHA’s president and chief executive officer, said Berwick is needed to work on the health care mandates created by the recent health care legislation. In a Wednesday CHA press release, she reported that CMS has not had a permanent administrator since 2006.

She called Berwick “well qualified” for the position, describing him as “a visionary with great insight and knowledge of the health care delivery system based on his perspectives as a physician and teacher” who has championed high quality health care for decades.

For more on this, go to the Catholic News Agency.

I guess that Sr. Keehan doesn't care that he views health care as a redistibution of wealth, as well as, rationing of health care.

So what's a couple of abortions when you get health care for all. Right Carol?

Go here for more info on his Marxist views.

She will continue to support these corrupt and radical agendas because she knows that Archbishop Wuerl and many of the other bishops will do NOTHING. She has more to fear (and gain in this world) from the Most Merciful than she has from the bishops.

To all Pro-abortion Catholyc Feminists...

Early this morning, I came across something that I felt obligated to share with all of the Pro-Abortion Catholyc Feminists (and that includes the Vice President Joe Biden): A New Short Catechism.

In it, you will you will learn the answers to the following questions (and more):
  • Who made us?
  • Who is God?
  • Why did God make us?
  • From whom do we learn to know, love, and serve God?
  • Where do we find the chief truths taught by Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church?
So, click on the link, read and learn.

Liturgical Abuse or Just Not Knowing Any Better??

Over the last few months, as I have had the opportunity to travel to a number of different Catholic churches in both this Archdiocese and others, I have noticed two things.

During the Lord's Prayer, we seem to have large numbers of people who suddenly hold hands. Then immediately following, we seem to have a large number of people who hold up their hands, during the recitation of "For the Kingdom..."

Now, I don't remember learning this as a child and have only begun to see this about 20 years ago.

Anyone know where the "heck" this came from?

Cardinal McCarrick's Birthday Celebration...not the whole story

Well, the Catholic Standard, it their print edition, published a lovely story about Cardinal McCarrick's 80th birthday Mass. So first, Happy Birthday.

However, and there is always the "however," there are two things about this story.

First, why was there no mention, at least that I can recall, regarding this Mass. This seems to have been one of those occasions in which you want to celebrate the globe trotting life of the Cardinal.

Second, and more importantly, the Catholic Standard makes no mention of one of the lector's at Mass was Sr. Carol Keehan, president of the Catholic Health Association. (But the WaPo did.) Yep, the same Sr. Keehan who supported the Most Merciful, Lord High Barack Obama of the Regime.

Now, Mr. Zimmerman, can you tell me why this fact was kept out of the story on Cardiinal McCarrick? Was the Archdiocese embarrassed by this?

She was disinvited to speak at the Cardinal Newman Society, allowed to speak at the Gonzaga High School, and now this.

This Archbishop and Archdiocese send very mixed messages. Either you are proud to honor those who are not faithful to the Church or you are not?

Which is it?
