St. Blaise is venerated as the patron saint of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Since the 11th century, there are religious and secular celebrations on this day in the historic city. In Croatian, it's Sveti Vlaho.
When you walk around Dubrovnik, you'll see statues of him holding the historic city in one hand. Also, there's a beautiful church named in St. Blaise's honor in the old town. I had the opportunity to attend a weekend evening Mass while on a group travel tour; it was worth hearing liturgy in Croatian!
