A Parish That +Gregory Wishes to Destroy

Here is an excellent article on RORATE CAELI about St. Mary's in Chinatown (Washington DC).

Wilton Cardinal Gregory is preparing to announce that every traditional Latin Mass in the Archdiocese of Washington will be suppressed. This includes seven public Masses at archdiocesan parishes each Sunday, numerous holy day and weekday TLMs and several parishes that offer private Masses. All told there are about 20 priests residing in the archdiocese that offer the traditional Latin Mass. A non-parish location, such as the Franciscan Monastery, would be used for a merged traditional ghetto to replace all of the other TLMs.

Of the parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington that offer public traditional Latin Masses, three or four of those churches have more Catholics who attend the TLM than the novus ordo. They will die, sadly, including Saint Mary Mother of God church, which was one of the first parishes in the U.S. to offer the traditional Latin Mass during John Paul II's limited indults.

Congratulations Rock Creek Council (KofC #2797)

Congratulations to Rock Creek Council in Bethesda, MD.

It hosted a charity chess tournament to benefit a local military and veteran service organization.  More than 50 people competed, including youth from local chess clubs.  In addition to raising more than $800, the council also collected about $650 worth of food donations for the organization.

Thanks to Melvin for sending this to me from the Colombia Magazine.

TLM Update - Not Good

Note: I received this second hand, so I cannot verify the information or the source.  However, the person I received it from, believes his source.

Currently, there are seven public TLMs in the Archdiocese of Washington.  The "Committee" of priests assigned to look at it, looked favorably upon it.  However, they are not the decision makers.

Word is that Cardinal Gregory will restrict it to only one place and once per month.  That will be at the the Franciscan Monastery in Brookland, which is not easily accessible by public transit, may have an unsympathetic pastor, and may not permit the Triduum.

Why such hate?

Pregnancy resource center vandalized in DC

A pregnancy resource center in Washington, D.C., was vandalized with red paint and graffiti this week. The incident is the latest in a string of attacks on pro-life organizations and Catholic church buildings.

Photos of the June 3 vandalism show a splash of red paint covering the Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center’s white door. On the brick outer building, the words “Jane says revenge” are written in black spray paint.

Msgr. Tom Wells: The Priest Who Resisted Homosexuality in the Priesthood and Died for It

So, for Pride Month, 2022! I’d like to shovel up the memory of my uncle, Msgr. Thomas Wells, who, 22 years ago today—June 8, 2000—was murdered in his Maryland rectory, collateral damage of a culture of active priestly homosexuality. If we are to truly celebrate diversity this month, let’s lift the lid of Msgr. Wells’ tomb and come fully out of the closet. Let’s scrape away the gay thin layer of multicolor to get to some smoldering shades of black.
