CVN and Pro-Abort/Pro-Gay Speaker

The Catholic Volunteer Network (CVN) was in the news last year, because they decided to honor Chris "I get a thrill up my leg for Obama" Matthews, at their annual dinner. If you recall, they were to have the dinner at the Franciscan Monastery. However, the Catholic blogospher went wild with thsi story and our colleagues over at Restore DC Catholicism even picketed the event. Well, CVN moved the event to an undisclosed location but still gave Chris the award.

Well, this year they have seemed to learn some lessons but not all.

First, they are not holding the event at the Franciscan Monastery but at the National Press Club. So,no scandal at a Catholic institution.

Second, they are honoring Comcast. Now, I was a Comcast client but I do seem to remember that Comcast offered Playboy and other porn channels. Now, Comcast is probably a huge supporter of CVN but they make a good amount o revenue off of porn and anti-Catholic shows/channels.

Finally, look who is the featured speaker...Cokie Roberts. Now, we all remember Cokie, as we media person who supports gay marriage, supports abortion and has criticised His Holiness.

My question to CVN is: Why do you have the word "Catholic" in your name? I mean, if you are going to honor a business which makes a living off of porn (although not the total business), and have speakers who are opposed to the Catholic faith, why bother with the word "Catholic." Just call your self something else.

Catholic Network of Volunteer Services - Update

Well folks, if you go over to the CNVS website, you will see their press release regarding the dinner honoring BB&T Bank, with Chris "I get a thrill up my leg" Matthews.

It seems that the dinner took place in Chevy Chase. (Mmmm...I wonder if Muffy and Biff attended?)

So, as expected, they could not take the heat and the embarrassment.

Catholic Volunteer Network - Their Non-Response

After my post yesterday regarding the non-response from the Catholic Network of Volunteer Services (CNVS) to one of my readers, I began to think (which I am doing all of the time, unlike Catholycs who prefer to go with their feelings) about it and the reason for it.

Seems to me that they knew what they were doing, have been caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar and just don't care. Why? Because most of their constituencies probably have the same view as Chris Matthews. So why apologize when you support abortion, gay marriage and womyn priests.

With the invitation by CVNS of Chris Matthews, they are just acknowledging and validating their set of Catholyc beliefs.

Oh, and just forget about the folks over in Hyattsville doing anything about this. They will do the Sgt. Schultz ("Hogan Heroes") mantra: "I know nothing, NOTHING."
