RIP Truett Cathy - Founder of Chick-Fil-A

Earlier this week, it was reported that Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-Fil-A, passed away at the age of 93.

I discovered Chick-Fil-A a number of years ago by accident and fell in love with their product.  Each time I go into a Chick-Fil-A, I am always amazed at the following:

  • Cleanliness of the store
  • Quality of the product
  • Friendliness and courtesy shown by the staff
  • How nice everyone is who eats there -- never shouting, foul language, etc.

Although we are of different faiths, Mr. Cathy upheld a certain moral stance that we as Catholics should look for and, when appropriate, work with groups such as this.  The amount of hate targeting him and his company, was outweighed a million times by those who bought his product.

And so, I take this moment to say:

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon him/her.
May he rest in peace. Amen.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

Saturday Evening at Chick-fil-A

So, Saturday night I decide to go to see 2016 at the theaters in downtown Silver Spring.

I parked in the public parking lot and as I am walking by Chick-fil-A, there are a group of about ten protestors.  Most looked like they were either high school seniors or freshmen in college, holding up some undecipherable signs but you know they were pro-gay.  There was a guy in a Guy Fawkes mask and Grim Reaper cloak and hood, and an older woman (probably in her 60's with an Obama sticker on her sign. They were quiet but lined the sidewalk.

When I saw them, I decided that something was to be done.  I walked by them and went in to Chick-fil-A and purchased six cookies.  To be honest, I wasn't hungry but I wasn't going to let them intimidate anyone.

I purchased the cookies and walked out of the store, only to be told by the Guy Fawkes character "Thank you for supporting hate."

So, being the smart ass that I sometimes can be, I offered each of the protesters a cookie as I passed them.  "Would you like a cookie?," I asked.

I then realized that they wouldn't let me in the movies with them, so, I took one out and took a bite.  It was actually pretty good.

So, as I walked by them, I once again offered them a cookie, letting them know that they were pretty good and they are missing out.

I will not be intimidated!

So much for Mayor Gray and his Catholic faith! Sell out!

I guess the Cardinal's opening prayer and photo op wasn't enough to change his pro-abortion, pro-homosexual positions.  Gray should be excommunicated!

From today's Washington comPost:

“Given my long standing strong support for LGBT rights and marriage equality, I would not support #hatechicken,” Gray wrote.

Earlier Friday, Gray declined to take a stand on the company, saying he needed more time to review its position on gay rights. But administration officials noted Gray has been a strong supporter of gay rights.

In 2010, when he was council chairman, Gray helped legalize same-sex marriage. Last month, as mayor, Gray signed into law what he called one of the nation’s toughest anti bullying laws.
