+Gregory's Silence on Biden's Abortion Actions

As you may or may not know, the Cardinal Archbishop of Washington Wilton Gregory came out a few weeks ago and stated that he wants to dialog with Biden.  Here is part of the interview with Religious News Service.

The incoming president will be the second Catholic president in American history. What kind of relationship do you hope to forge with him? Also, you’ve received pushback from some in the church for saying you won’t deny Joe Biden Communion because of his stance on abortion. What do you say to your critics?

I want to begin a relationship with him that allows us to have a serious conversation, knowing full well that there are issues that he and I will be diametrically opposed to, but hopefully also being able to capitalize on issues that we can advance together.

I don’t want to go to the table with a gun on the table first.

However, there were two major actions taken by Biden, since his inauguration:

1. His statement on his recommitting to “codifying Roe v. Wade” on the 48th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion nationwide as pro-life advocates vowed to fight the administration’s pro-choice agenda.

2. Cancellation of US backing of the Mexico City Policy.

On both of these, +Gregory has been silent.

One one level, I would say that this is shameful.

However, I am wondering if he actually believes that abortion is murder and supports the Catholic position.

What do you think?

Msgr Rossi Scandal makes the Scranton Newspaper

A reader let me know that the Rossi scandal has made the front page of the local Scranton newspaper.  However, you may need to subscribe to it but I have included the images below.

When you read the article, you notice how they refuse to answer questions about the investigation.

Again, thank you to a reader!!!

A Catholic Standard Update (Aug. 22, 2019 edition)

Let the trumpets blare and the women swoon, we have a Catholic Standard update.  Yes, it is a few days late but here is it none the less...

  • Did you expect the story on +Gregory's Theology on Tap include anything about Msgr. Rossi.
  • We see an article on his comments regarding the President's tweets.  However, after this came out, there was no mention about the ongoing problems in Baltimore.  I guess he got some "cred" with the liberals on this.
  • Based on his current action (or inaction), I am not certain he has made Jesus Proud.
  • There is the story of Fr. Vazquez, who was convicted of sexual assault  and sexual abuse. I don't recall hearing about this but it is possible that I was traveling or away from the area, at the time.   It is interesting in the story that he was immediately removed from ministry, when the allegations were made.  Makes you wonder why Msgr. Rossi was not removed.
  • Providence Urgent Care Center has been opened.
  • We have a new Secretary of Communications:  Paula Gwynn Grant.  She was the Dir. of Comms for the Archdiocese of Atlanta.  There are rumors about her salary (apx. $200K per year plus benefits).  Guess she will continue to keep things quiet for +Gregory.
  • Msgr. Enzler talks about illegal aliens and that we should do what we can to help.  Funny, how he does not mention that Catholic Charities gets millions in Federal $$ to take care of the illegals.
  • A nice story on St. John's (of Hollywood) program for youth.
  • We have a story on the shooting in El Paso, but not one on Dayton.  Could it be the political optics?
  • A story on the new residence for 13 retired priests in Hyattsville.
  • A story on Gloria Purvis of EWTN and Gene Kranz (NASA).
  •  A story on the passing of Msgr. O'Connell.  May he rest in peace.

Church Militant on Msgr. Rossi. Andt thank you George Neumayr.

Church Militant has focused today's (Aug. 19, 2019) episode on Msgr. Rossi.

First, it acknowledges the groundwork of George Neumayr.

Second, many of the questions they ask, I have asked, such as:

  • Why has Msgr. Rossi not been placed on Admin. Leave, as other priests are?
  • Who is reviewing the allegations?

Again, my fear is that they (Bambi, The African Queen, etc.) will whitewash this.

As many have said, the only way that this will end, is if we begin to withhold funds from the Church.

Archbishop Gregory's Hypocritical Act

Well, it seem that Archbishop Gregory has decided to jump into the fray on President Trump, Rep. Cummings and Baltimore.

That is his right.

But it seems to me, that what he is doing is:

  1. failing to live up to his promise of being open and honest in relation to church matters; and,
  2. using this as a way to not only deflect attention from the issues within the church, but score points with the radical left.

And yet, he remains silent on:

  • The amount of money spent on Baltimore to get it out of poverty and yet, it is still there.
  • The political corruption of that city.
  • How much money does the Catholic Church get in Federal, State and City contracts to help the homeless, illegal aliens, etc.
  • The scandal of Msgr Rossi
  • The McCarrick Fund
  • Who is paying for McCarrick, where ever he is staying.

Melvin asked me what I thought when Archbishop Gregory was appointed to DC.  I told Melvin that he would sweep things under the rug and hope that no one remembers.   Seems that the he is carrying that out fully, with having people look the other way.

++++

Please remember to sign the petition to ask CUA President Garvey to investigate Msgr. Rossi.

Remember to help out George Neumayr on his journalism fund.
