Mr. McCarrick Has Died

 The National Catholic Fishwrap has published a story that Mr. McCarrick has died at the age of 94.

+Gregory spoke at the National Press Club yesterday (Sept. 8th) and to take questions.  And no, I did not submit any questions in advance. 

Although there were a number of questions, there were the obvious ones regarding Mr. McCarrick and sexual abuse.  

 

Here is The Pillar's take on this: 

Clerical sexual abuse is “absolutely contrary to everything that I as a priest, my brother priests and bishops, should be pursuing, in terms of serving of our people,” Gregory said.

Perhaps surprisingly, the cardinal also talked about vicarious liability. He explained that bishops should not be held accountable for assigning abusive priests to ministry if they had no way of knowing about the acts of abuse or misconduct.

Gregory was direct on that issue: “I can only act on that which I know. And I do it clearly, honestly, straightforwardly, and I continue to do it.”

Mr. McCarrick to appear in Court

Former cardinal Theodore McCarrick was criminally charged in Massachusetts last month with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old during a 1974 wedding reception at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

 McCarrick was initially summoned to appear in court this week, on Thursday, August 26. But his first court date — called an arraignment — has been rescheduled to next week; the hearing will take place on Sept. 3.

McCarrick's Former Secretary Speaks

Now, I do not know the exact reason for this, at this time.  

The most likely reason, is that it is to help increase the amount of $$$ donated to the Annual Appeal, as the appeal was down by 30% from the target in 2019.

One possible reason is that with the McCarrick report to be "issued soon," it is a way to get ahead of the media both on a diocese and personal level.

It could be to relieve a guilty conscience.

It could be all and more.

However, the former secretary of Mr. McCarrick has spoken about how he (McCarrick) "used" people.

Where in the world is (former Cardinal) McCarrick?

For those of you who may or may not know, Mr. McCarrick has left the Kansas friary, where he had been staying for the last few months. 

There are a number of reports pointing to a specific location in Florida.  

Of course, the issue that he is now in Florida is of concern, or should be of concern, to all those living in the area.

However, there is a much bigger issue, which I believe that is important:  How did he get from Kansas to Florida?  And, I don't simply mean did he drive, fly, take a bus, etc.

No, it is more important to know the following:

• Is McCarrick being moved — again — by orders of someone in the hierarchy?
• If so, who is that person or persons?
• Why is he being moved?
• Who is paying for all this?
• Is the timing of all this related to the soon-to-be-released Vatican investigation, and if so, is it a deliberate attempt to get him away from any media who knew his former location in Kansas?
• Just how reliable or authoritative can any report be that's prepared by a man handpicked by the same pope who resurrected the very man under investigation?

The Church Militant has asked the question regarding McCarrick:  If McCarrick was able to travel around the world, give out large amounts of money, where did he get the $$$, if he had no bank accounts, investments, etc.?

McCarrick, +Wuerl, +Pell and the Vatican Financial Scandal

Could the reason Cardinal Pell of Australia be in jail at the moment due to Mr. McCarrick and Cardinal Wuerl?

A WILD AND CRAZY WEEK in the Roman Catholic World and I will STAND AND FIGHT.

This has been a wild and crazy week in the Roman Catholic world.  Why?

• Amazonian Synod in Rome.  What about it?  Women Priests?  Women Deacon's?  Married Priests?  Pagan Rituals?  Ecological Sins.  And others...
• Did the Pope state that Jesus was not divine, during his time on earth?
• Death Penalty in America
• The Vatican Bank Scandal
• The Money Scam by Mr. McCarrick and Cardinal Wuerl
• Cardinal Sarah says that if you oppose the Pope, you are outside of the Church
• A NYC bishop has been removed due to sexual abuse  
• Dozen's of aborted babies in Ulrich Klopfer's car.

My head is about to explode with all of this stuff.  

It can become depressing.  

I was talking to Melvin about many of these issues and he said to me: "I really want to leave the Church.  These bishops are liars.  These priests are liars.  They really don't care of about us.  They live a sinful life, all the while using our charity, our goodness, to do it."

And how can you argue with this.  Melvin is correct.   

After talking with this person a bit more, I said: "This is why I write my blog.  I will STAND AND FIGHT."  I know that I am just one person, and I cannot make much of a difference, but I know that I can live with myself."

I urge all of you to stay and to STAND AND FIGHT.

And, I call upon Pope Francis to vacate the Chair of St. Peter, for the sake of the Church and the Faithful.

 

August Theology on Tap -- Controlling the Dialog

The August Theology on Tap (targeting those ages 21 to late 30s) will have Archbishop Gregory as the speaker, on August 13th. 

Great.  

Wonderful.

However, they are asking that all questions be submitted in advance for him to answer.

Here are some questions I would like to see asked by some of the young people, who attend:

• Former Cardinal McCarrick had a fund, which he used for his personal use.  The fund was managed by the Archdiocese but he was able to write checks in any amount, for any cause.  Will the Archdiocese explain: (1) how much was in this fund; (2) who were the recipients of these funds and the amounts; (3) what does the audit show, and can you make the audit report available; and (4) how much is currently left in the fund and what has happened with the monies.
• Msgr. Rossi has been accused of sexual assault at CUA.  Why has he not been removed from ministry, pending a full review?
• Msgr. Rossi has been accused of not living up to his vow of celibacy? Is this true and if yes, why has he not been removed from the priesthood?  
• Why did the security team at the Shrine lie to George Neumayr about his ability to access the shrine?
• Why is there a convicted criminal on the Security Staff of the Shrine?

If you control the questions, then you control the conversation.  How convenient!

 

Archbishop Gregory's Hypocritical Act

Well, it seem that Archbishop Gregory has decided to jump into the fray on President Trump, Rep. Cummings and Baltimore.   

That is his right. 

But it seems to me, that what he is doing is:

1. failing to live up to his promise of being open and honest in relation to church matters; and,
2. using this as a way to not only deflect attention from the issues within the church, but score points with the radical left. 

And yet, he remains silent on:

• The amount of money spent on Baltimore to get it out of poverty and yet, it is still there. 
• The political corruption of that city.
• How much money does the Catholic Church get in Federal, State and City contracts to help the homeless, illegal aliens, etc. 
• The scandal of Msgr Rossi
• The McCarrick Fund
• Who is paying for McCarrick, where ever he is staying.

Melvin asked me what I thought when Archbishop Gregory was appointed to DC.  I told Melvin that he would sweep things under the rug and hope that no one remembers.   Seems that the he is carrying that out fully, with having people look the other way.

One of the appalling figures at the center of the Monsignor Walter Rossi scandal is Matthew Riedlinger. A former priest nabbed by police during an underage sting operation, he used to live at Rossi’s Atlantic City beach condo. He was even registered to vote there and to this day gets mail at the condo, according to a mailman with whom I spoke last year. I have previously reported the allegations from well-informed sources within the D.C. archdiocese about him and Rossi: that they were once sexual partners, that Rossi pulled strings with the rapist Theodore McCarrick to make his absurdly checkered boyfriend a priest in the diocese of Trenton (where McCarrick’s crony from seminary days, John M. Smith, served as bishop at the time), that Rossi most egregiously introduced Riedlinger to Catholic University students upon whom he preyed, and that Rossi played a role in trying to suppress the Riedlinger scandal after the freshly minted priest got popped for sending over 1,000 obscene texts to a cop posing as a 16-year-old.

ADW +Dorsonville -- More of the Same...

Once again, George Neumayr's piece in the American Spectator, focuses on Archbishop Dorsonville, who is part of the problem with the American hierarchy.  

He also states, which is something that I have been saying from the very start, that Archbishop Wilton will do nothing about the problems in this diocese.  

Remember, he is a protege of Cardinal Bernadin and spoke oh so glowingly of him in the Catholic Standard.

BTW, my source (thanks Melvin) states that Drosonville, has a very condescending attitude towards many of his priests, seminarians, etc.

Questions Sent to ADW on the McCarrick Fund

A short time ago, I sent an email to the Archdiocese of Washington asking a series of questions regarding the McCarrick Fund.  Below you will find my email.  Not holding my breath waiting for an answer, but who knows, hell may freeze over.

When was this fund established?

Where did the funds for the McCarrick fund come from? 

Were those funds given specifically for this fund or were they diverted from the general donations or Archdiocesan appeal? 

How were monies solicited for this fund?  

Can you provide a listing of all monies distributed (who, where, when, how much) in the last 10 years?   If you cannot or will not provide a listing, please explain why? 

Has this fund had annual audits conducted?  If not, why not?

Can you provide copies of the audit review for this fund for the last ten years?  If not, why not?

How much money is currently left in this fund?

Is money from the fund, invested and where is it invested?   Who is monitoring/managing this and are they (individual or company) being compensated?  If compensated, what is the compensation?  

No Answers on the McCarrick Fund

The Archdiocese of Washington continues to refuse to answer questions on what McCarrick did with a personal charitable fund.   

What?  Did you not know that he had a fund that he could use and there was very little oversight?  

And they wonder why donations are down!

Have they not learned that the coverup is worse than the truth!   

Oh, and if you think you will learn anything about this in the Catholic Standard, I have the deed to a very famous bridge in New York, that I would like to sell you.


Washington D.C., Jul 12, 2019 / 03:00 pm (CNA).- More than one year after the announcement of allegations of sexual abuse against former cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the Archdiocese of Washington has continued to refuse questions about McCarrick’s use of a personal charitable fund. 

McCarrick funnelled hundreds of thousands of dollars through what was known as the Archbishop’s Fund, and reportedly made gifts to senior Vatican officials, even while the fund remained under the charitable auspices of the archdiocese.

Senior sources close to the Archdiocese of Washington have confirmed that archdiocesan records include the names of individuals, including senior Vatican figures, to whom McCarrick made payments from the fund.

But the Archdiocese of Washington has declined to disclose sources, sums, and uses of money, though it has acknowledged that the fund exists.

No Comment from the National Shrine re Msgr. Rossi

I wrote to the National Shrine three times (June 22, June 27 and July 2) regarding Msgr Rossi.  

Other than the canned response ("Thank you for interest in the National Basilica...), there has not been a peep out of them.  

Of course, I did not expect them to reply, as is typical in this Archdiocese.  The MO is always: Do not reply, keep silent and this will pass.  Unless, they are caught red handed, as in the case of what they did to George Neumayr, or when Cardinal Wuerl lied about knowing what Cardinal McCarrick did.  

(Oh, and none of us -- Melvin, his wife, etc. -- believed Cardinal Wuerl when he was first questioned about McCarrick.  Just because you did not see the legal documents, does not mean you did not know what was going on.  Just a matter of semantics.)

Of course, I expect that Archbishop Gregory will likewise remain silent.  Why not, it was due to their (Msgr. Rossi and himself) that his benefactors (McCarrick and Wuerl) helped to get him to where he is.  Why rock the boat?

 

The Silence on McCarrick

My friend Melvin and I were talking about what you can read below this past weekend regarding McCarrick.   Where is he?  Who is paying for his room and board?  Why have the bishops remained silent about this?

Melvin believes that McCarrick is back here in the Archdiocese, staying at one of the Catholic retirement communities. 

McCarrick has never publicly admitted his guilt in the face of the overwhelming evidence of his crimes. He has not asked forgiveness of his victims, not made monetary reparations to them for the grave harm he inflicted upon them. He remains in a Kansas Capuchin friary adjacent to a parochial school as a non-paying guest; his expulsion from the priesthood has not resulted in any change in his Church-provided living arrangements.

This is remarkable. How many other forcibly laicized priests found guilty of sexually molesting young men would be given this consideration? Why has he not been shown the door and told to come clean by the Holy See or the Bishop of Salina or the Capuchin superior?

Msgr. Rossi needs to answer some questions...

• What is his relationship with Fr. Hvozdovic of the Diocese of Scranton?
• Why do they co-own a condo in Florida?
• How does he have time to be the treasurer of the condo association? 
• How does he feel to be known as one part of the "old gay couple" by those who live in the condo community?

BTW, if you have forgotten, Msgr. Rossi had no problem giving Holy Communion to Joe Biden and for pulling The Faithful Departed from the Shrine's gift shop.

IMHO, it is time for Msgr. Rossi to either come clean and resign or simply resign.    

The damage of Cardinal Wuerl just continues...

Medical researchers at a U.S.-, Catholic-based institute say they were shocked at being denied a $150,000 Papal Foundation grant for their groundbreaking Alzheimer’s research last year while $25 million was recently awarded to a scandal-plagued dermatological hospital in Rome.

The Iowa-based John Paul II Medical Research Institute (JP2MRI) was rejected for a $150,000 grant for Alzheimer’s research in August 2018, just as controversy arose surrounding the Papal Foundation, the Holy See, and a stunning $25 million grant to the Istituto Dermopatico dell'Immacolata (IDI), a dermatological hospital, in Rome.

Catholic Standard Update for April 4, 2019

Well, it is that time of the month for a review of what is in the Catholic Standard.  I do this as a public service announcement (PSA) for you.

It was too late for the Standard to publish the news of Bp. Wilton Gregory, but do expect the next edition to be filled with glowing stories and lots and lots of advertisements, with parishes and other dioceses offering their congratulations on the announcement.

We continue to see the rehabilitation of Cardinal Wuerl this week, with the article (and photo) of him at the Red Mass.

In addition, we have the following stories:

• A couple of stories about those who are entering the Church this year.
• An article on the Engaging the Mission workshop.
• A full page story on how Auxilary Bishop Roy E. Campbell was elected president of the National Black Catholic Congress.  Half of the story was a repeat of his biography.
• Maryland Day at St. Clement's Island.  Have always wanted to go there and be a part of it.  Guess I will have to wait till next year.
• We have an article by Msg. Enzler, which is really a veiled exhortation to give to Catholic Charities.  BTW, CC is hurting this year because of the Mr. McCarrick and Cardinal Wuerl fiasco.  Many major donors have cut back.  More on this another day.
• We have a story on how Sacred Heart School celebrated the feast day on March 24th.
• We have a story on the St. Francis International School and the Srs. of Notre Dame de Namur.  In the photo of the sisters, not one of them is wearing a habit.  BTW, it seems that there is a story on St. Francis at least once a quarter.  Is this my imagination?  
• And finally, we have a story about liberal/lefty Bp. Francis A. Quinn of Sacramento.
