An update...
Well, they are just under one million dollars shy of the goal of 11 million, but it has taken them almost a year. However, the number of donors has once again decreased.
Here were the results from previous Appeals:
The financial goal for the 2021 Annual Appeal was $11.9 million. The amount raised was $10.3 million from just over 20,000.
The 2020 Annual Appeal brought in $10.4 million from over 33,000 donors.
This year, the "Cardinal's Appeal" is no more.
Yep, it has a new name: Annual Catholic Services Appeal.
Now, one of the interesting things to note was that last week they had posted both the amount currently donated and the number of families/individuals who had donated. This week, it is gone.
I would urge you not to give. If you wish to give, give directly to your parish or an order serving the parish.
We have a "woke" Cardinal and the only way that he will get the message -- if he ever does -- is to withhold funding.
Both a priest and deacon were removed from ministry in October 2023 due to alligations. This was announced only in the affected parishes and the Catholic Standard. I would bet that 99.9% of Catholics in the Archdiocese know nothing about it.

Last week I was refused my paycheck. This of course is not exactly shocking. My homosexual Cardinal of Washington has already asked Rome to dismiss me from priesthood because he claims I am disobedient. I am not disobedient! We have spoken. He destroys men!s lives. I have witnessed him destroy the good names of priests. Rather I have been very frank to his face and told him I will not be coerced by his own abuse of the powers he holds as my bishop.
Since the 1860s my Archbishop has been a champion protector among our sexually promiscuous American priests and bishops. In my letter sent in late May 2023, I asked him if he had ever lied down and made live with another homosexual man? I asked because I received a phone call informing me that this Cardinal, Wilton Gregory had been known as the “African Queen” when he was the Archbishop of Atlanta. So I wrote and asked him if this was true? That was around May 30,2023. I have yet to hear back from Archbishop Gregory. Nonetheless his silence has spoken.

Father Adam Park has stepped down from the senior position at the elite seminary following allegations that he sexually harassed seminarians under his care.

celebrant of the planned 14 August Mass -- Archbishop Thomas Gullickson
-- submit a formal request for permission. Mind you, all permissions
had already been attained prior to the motu proprio.
Today, Archbishop Gullickson received a reply from Cardinal Gregory. Permission: denied.

All I can say is you cannot trust +Gregory.
Over the last few months, I have observed a local media change in relation to +Gregory and wanted to share it with you, and see if you agree or disagree.
For many years, the local media, whenever there was an issue with Catholicism, such as a case of child abuse by a priest or a Holy Day, such as Easter, the go to person would always be the Catholic archbishop/cardinal of the Archdiocese of Washington.
However, over the last six to eight months, I have noticed that the local media is not going to +Gregory. They are now going to the Bishop of Arlington (VA), Bishop Michael Burbidge.
Now I do not know if this is intentional or if they are going to +Gregory, and he is turning down the opportunity to speak.
Is this something that you have also noticed? Or am I just imagining it?

Ah yes, it is that time of year, when the Pastor and his staff are required to beg for the Annual Appeal. We heard about it at the "Commitment Weekend."
There were fliers in the back of the church weeks ago, and now I received it about a week or so ago. I just found it, as it has sat under a pile of papers.
In looking at the letter and flier, here is what I found unusual:
1. The request did not come from +Gregory, but from Joseph M. Gillmer, the Executive Director of Development. This is unusual, because normally it "comes from" the Cardinal/Archbishop. Maybe they believe it is too polarizing to have him on the letter.
2. The flier I received, does not mention or even have a photo of +Gregory. Again, not normal but he has been controversial, so maybe they want to downplay it.
3. There is no mention about the amount to be raised in total. Maybe they don't want people to know if they fall short, and by how much.
4. If you send in your $$ by mail, using the envelope, it is processed in Topeka, KS. Guess they got a really good deal, but you would think that after they have laid off a number of employees, they would want that work done locally.
Just my thoughts...
Although most of the mainstream Catholic media has chosen to ignore this, because it does not necessarily speak well of +Francis, it also does not speak well of +Gregory.

It seems that Fr. Larry Father Larry Swink of Sacred Heart Parish in La Plata, MD has gotten into some hot water.
According to Change.Org, it seems that:
Fr. Swink heroically came to the defense of a student who was being bullied for his Pro-Life stance at Archbishop Neale in Port Tobacco, Maryland. At the urging of the handful of families whose children were involved in the bullying of their classmate, the Archdiocese of Washington has decided, without hearing from both sides, to censure Fr. Larry instead, barring him from coming in to the classrooms and giving his Catholic faith affirming messages to the kids.
Notice the things going on here:
1. A student being bullied, and that is a no-no.
2. The student being bullied is pro-life.
3. When a Catholic priest attempts to stop the bullying, the parent's of the bully go after the priest.
4. The priest is silenced.
