The Deacon Project - Deacon Joel Carpenter

Today we look at Deacon Joel Carpenter (@DeaconCarp), currently assigned to St. George (Valley Lee), which is down near Piney Point.

He does not post much on TWITTER and has not done so, since February, as of this writing.  Some religious, some family, very little political.

The Deacon Project - Arch. of Washington (Part Two)

Yesterday, I wrote about how surprised I was at the fact that Catholic Deacons were commenting on TWITTER, criticizing priests who supported President Trump. And, let's not talk about what they said about +Vigano.

Having seen this over the last few months, I decided to take a little time and carry out what I like to call The Deacon Project.

The Deacon Project was my attempt, on a small and limited scale, to see how widespread this sort of criticism -- both mild and sharp -- not simply of the President but of what might be called "conservative" clergy and commentators.

So, how did I do this?

Well, I searched TWITTER for all of the active Roman Catholic Deacons in the Archdiocese of Washington DC.  I did not look at retired Deacons.

In addition, I did not do some sort of in depth, deep dive search.  I search a couple of different ways and think I found most of them.

So what did I find.

First, almost all active Roman Catholic Deacons in the Archdiocese of Washington do not have a Twitter account.

Second, a few (very few) Roman Catholic Deacons in the Archdiocese of Washington have accounts but they don't seem to be active.

Third, there are one or two who have active accounts.

The Deacon Project - Arch. of Washington will take a look at these Deacons.

Pope Franics must step down!

In his testimony, dated August 22, Archbishop ViganĂ², who served as apostolic nuncio in Washington D.C. from 2011-2016, states that in the late 2000s, Benedict had “imposed on Cardinal McCarrick sanctions similar to those now imposed on him by Pope Francis,” and that ViganĂ² personally spoke with Francis about the gravity of McCarrick’s abuse soon after his election in 2013.

But he says that Francis “continued to cover him” and not only did he “not take into account the sanctions that Pope Benedict had imposed on him” but also made McCarrick “his trusted counselor” who helped him to appoint a number of bishops in the United States, including Cardinals Blase Cupich of Chicago and Joseph Tobin of Newark.

Archbishop ViganĂ² also implicates Cardinals Sodano, Bertone and Parolin in the cover-up and insists various other cardinals and bishops were well aware, including Cardinal Donald Wuerl, McCarrick’s successor as Archbishop of Washington D.C.

Read it all here from LifeSiteNews

I am calling for all Catholic bloggers to call for Pope Francis and Cardinal Wuerl to step down!

St. John Paul II’s prophesy of an ‘anti-Church’!

Should the anti-Church succeed in commandeering all the space of the true Church, the rights of man will supplant the rights of God through the desecration of the sacraments, the sacrilege of the sanctuary, and the abuse of apostolic power.

Thus, politicians who vote for abortion and same-sex “marriage” will be welcome at the Communion rails; husbands and wives who have abandoned their spouses and children and entered into adulterous relationships will be admitted to the sacraments; priests and theologians who publicly reject Catholic doctrines and morals will be at liberty to exercise ministry and to spread dissent, while faithful Catholics will be marginalised, maligned and discredited at every turn.  Thus, the anti-Church would succeed in achieving its goal of dethroning God as Creator, Saviour and Sanctifier and replacing Him with man the self-creator, the self-saviour and the self-sanctifier.

WikiLeaks: Podesta and Left-Wing Activist Plot ‘Catholic Spring’

“There needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic Church,” Sandy Newman, president and founder of the progressive nonprofit Voices for Progress, writes to Podesta in an email titled “opening for a Catholic Spring? just musing.”

Rush -- Talking about the Falling Influence of the Catholic Bishops

Rush was discussing, if I remember correctly, an article from one of the Hillsdale College professors, in which it focuse on the falling influence of the Catholic bishops. The article hits the nail on the head.

For example, when funding was obained from the faithful and given to groups that did not support the mission of the Church, it watered down her influence. Redistibution of wealth with charity. How the church has slowly been coopted by socialism. (That one I remember as a student of the 60s -- that Christianity is really Socialism.)
