Time to shut down the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)!

Over the last two weeks, the Catholic blogs have been lighting up the net with the stories about how the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has funded ACORN to the tune of over $1,100,000.00 in 2007 and almost as much in 2006.

ACORN, as we all know by now, has been deeply invloved in voter fraud and supporting candidates and positions who are opposed the to Catholic Church. In fact, they even gave money to the darling of the Catholic left, Barack "The Messiah" Obama.

Yet, the CCHD has made no statement on this as of this writing.

Therefore, I am calling on all Catholic bloggers and those who are faithful to the Church, to begin a campaign to shut down the CCHD immediately.

Once it is shut down, CCHD needs to be completely reviewed and overhauled. Funds should be directed to CATHOLIC groups -- not groups with strong ties to pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, anti-Catholic schools.

Personally, I am tired of my Church donations being given to secular groups. If I wanted to give money to secular groups, then I would do so directly.

Will you join me?

Yes, we will join you, but please tell us how.

If you have a blog, advertise and push for this.

Advocate to everyone who will listen, not to give to CCHD. However, take the money you would donate and find a good local Catholic charity which serves the poor.

It is that simple.

Shutting down CCHD might not be that simple. CCHD is tied into Catholic Charities. In Cleveland CC and CCHD are both part of a "Ministering Together Board".

Years ago when I discovered some of the activities of CCHD and their CC connection, I stopped contributing to Catholic Charities in the Cleveland Diocese. If I recall correctly at that time they had provided funds for abortion.

They can be stopped.
But we need to write to our own pastors, bishops, (bishops of other dioceses), and Rome.
We can desire CCHD's conversion rather than its death.
But, in the meantime to help that bureaucratic monster reflect a bit we should definitely starve it of funds.

Please explain who the CCHD is. Please name names. WHo in our area controls, runs, hires, disperses funds etc. Who is on its board. To understand this organisation we need further pertinent information.Where is its headquarters, what is their phone number, email? Please inform us.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)is an arm/department of the US Catholic Conference of Bishops. Each year they take up a collection and provide grants to a number of community organizations.
