VOTF Closing Down? We should be so lucky!

According to an article in the Washington comPost:


Leaders of Voice of the Faithful sent out a fundraising letter Monday to members saying it is "at the crossroads of financial survival" and needs $60,000 by the end of this month.

Casey said that after meeting in an emergency session on July 9, the board decided it was faced with two choices: either cease operations or make an emergency appeal to members. He said the board is hoping to raise $60,000 by the end of this month to pay operating expenses for July and August.

In August, the group plans to send a new strategic plan to members that it hopes will renew interest in the group and raise additional money for it.

One of the problems with groups such as VOTF, is that it was set up as a one-issue organization. However, as time has passed, the scandal abated and action taken, they have attempted to morph themselves into a group that has advocated a more radical change in the Church - a dissenting organization. I (and others) have written extensively about them. In addition, they have aligned themselves with other dissenting groups, such as CORPUS.

I mean, look at their 2009 Conference speakers: Sr. Joan Chittister and Fr. Thomas Reese. If you are looking for a radical change in the Church, then you have found the right group.

So, if they disappear, it will not be a loss for the Church.

Archbishop Wuerl - Ban VOTF Now!

The recent attempt by two homosexual legislators and VOTF member Tom Gallagher to violate the First Amendment in their attempt to change how the Catholic Church is run in Connecticut, have (for now) given up. If they had been successful, you know that it would have been the start of many such lawsuits.

I am urging Archbishop Wuerl to ban VOTF permanently from every Roman Catholic facility in the Archdiocese of Washington DC.

We know that VOTF met at St. Rose of Lima in Gaithersburg (don't know if they still meet there, since not all meetings appear on the weekly calendar).

They still meet at Holy Trinity in Georgetown and have a page on their website, advertising their monthly meetings. (What else do you expect from them.)

Archbishop Wuerl, it is time to take a stand. Ban VOTF now. You have the authority to do so.

If the pastors and priests of those parishes and facilities do not abide by your decision, then ask them to leave the Archdiocese immediately. You have the authority to do so.

It is time to take a stand.

I Missed It...Did You?

Well folks, it looks like I missed the last meeting of the dissenters at Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown. Darn.

Never ceases to amaze me how a supposedly Catholic parish can host dissenters on a regular basis. But then again, it is Holy Trinity and run by the Jesuits. Need I say more?

BTW, VOTF has thrown in their lot with Fr. Bourgeouis. Talk about your dissenters.

The folks over in Hyattsville will turn a blind eye.

But, what else is new.

VOTF - Dissent is Still Going Strong at St. Rose of Lima

A number of months ago, I put forth a series of postings on VOTF in the Archdiocese of Washington DC. Well, VOTF seemed to disappear for a bit, except for the VOTF Chapter at Holy Trinity in DC.

Well, it seems that dissedent groups are once again rearing their heads. St. Rose of Lima, which has done this before, is at it once again:

It is amazing when the Archbishop continues to ask those of us who are faithful to the teachings of the Church, that we have to tolerate this sort of stuff happening.

Is there anyone in Hyattsville watching? Is there anyone who really cares?

VOTF at Holy Trinity (Washington DC)

Well, it looks like the dissident group Voice of the Faithful (VOTF) is once again meeting at Holy Trinity Church in Washington DC in October. (Go to the very bottom of the bulletin.)

Don't we have enough problems with politicians who "pontificate" on the Catholic faith and help confuse the faithful, that we have to put up with dissenters meeting in our own Churches?

When will we recognize the wolves in sheep clothing?

Since the Archbishop will be at the parish this weekend for the installation of the new pastor, maybe the Archbishop can have a word (or two) with him.

Who says that VOTF are not dissenters?

Well, once again I am proven right: Voice of the Faithful (NJ Chapter - to be specific) have shown that they are dissenters to the Church's teaching.

From the Catholic League's Press Release:

An ad criticizing the Catholic Church for its teaching on contraception was placed today in Italy’s largest newspaper, Corriere della Sera. The “Open Letter to the Pope” is the work of Catholics for Choice and was signed by many dissident Catholic organizations.

Among the groups which signed the ad are Dignity, New Ways Ministry (NWM), Pax Christi (Maine), Voice of the Faithful (New Jersey), and Women’s Ordination Conference (WOC).

So, to all those VOTFers who come here, are you willing to show that you are not dissenters and denounce, in no uncertain terms, the VOTF Chapter? Or will you simply claim, as some of you have done in the past, that this is all opinion and not fact.

I doubt I will hear from any of you.

Welcome to The Deacon's Bench

In last Thursday's blog posting, I referenced The Deacon's Bench on the issue of VOTF and those women who wish to be ordained to the Catholic priesthood. After a couple of nice email exchanges with Deacon Greg, I am delighted to include his blog on my list.

VOTF - Dissenting from the Church Once Again

A few weeks ago, I took some heat (actually, it rolled like water off of a duck's back) regarding my statement that Voice of the Faithful (VOTF) were dissenters. There were a number of postings from a few who stated that they were faithful to the Church's teachings and that I was not able to prove my point.

On May 30th, the Congregation of Faith issued, via L'Osservatore Romano, the following decree:

In accordance with what is disposed by Can. 1378 of the Code of Canon Law, he who shall have attempted to confer holy orders on a woman, as well as the woman who may have attempted to receive Holy Orders, incurs in a latae sententiae excommunication, reserved to the Apostolic See.

If he who shall have attempted to confer Holy Orders on a woman or if the woman who shall have attempted to received Holy Orders is a faithful bound to the Code of Canons of the Oriental Churches, he is to be punished with the major excommunication, whose remission remains reserved to the Apostolic See, in accordance with can. 1443 of the same Code (cf. can. 1423, Code of Canons of the Oriental Churches).

Well, it looks like the NJ Chapter of VOTF has decided to come out against this.

In an email, which was posted over at The Deacon's Bench, you will see that they come out against decree and stand in solidarity with CORPUS in favor of women's ordination.

Now, for those of you who do not know, CORPUS was founded by Anthony Padovan, an ex-priest, and advocates for both married and single priests, both male and female. In addition, the facilitator of the NJ Chapter of VOTF (Theresa Padovan) happens to married to Anthony Padovan. (Just a coincidence?)

Now, the Curt Jester has taken apart VOTF's argument. He has done a much better job than I could ever.

So, to those VOTF members who do come here, esp. the St. Rose and Holy Trinity ones (and I know you do):

1. Do you agree or disagree with the VOTF email?

2. If you disagree, would you be willing to call upon the national VOTF to condemn the NJ Chapter?

These are simple questions and I am asking for simple answers.

To Question One, the only two possible answers are: Agree or Disagree.

To Question #2, if you disagree, the answer is either "Yes I will" or "No, I won't."
If you decide to answer, please, keep to the questions asked and the options given. If you can't, then your response may not be posted. (Don't say I have not warned you.)

Voice of the Faithful - A Couple of Good Articles

Catholic Culture is an excellent website dealing with a number of issues regarding the faith. They really want to LIVE the Catholic life.

Well, it looks like St. John the Baptist in Silver Spring wasn't the only parish to advertise Bishop Robinson's book signing, sponsored by Voice of the Faithful (VOTF).

We also have Holy Trinity in Washington DC, which advertised it in their May11th bulletin.

However, it only gets better!

It seems that VOTF has an affiliate in the Archdiocese of Washington DC. And guess where it is located?

If you guessed Holy Trinity, you go to the head of the class.

So, we actually have a dissenting organization supported by a Catholic parish in the Archdiocese. And, it has done so since 2003! What's next? A Planned Parenthood chapter?

Does not the Archbishop have authority over the parishes in his Diocese?

Is there anyone who cares about this in Hyattsville?

VOTF and St. John the Baptist (Silver Spring)

Once again, we have another parish in the Diocese promoting Voice of the Faithful (VOTF), a dissident organization.

St. John the Baptist (Silver Spring) has recently placed an announcement in their parish bulletin advertising the local speaking engagement of the Most. Rev. Geoffrey Robinson, the retired Auxiliary Bishop of Sidney Australia.

Although he is not speaking on parish property (thank God), it is bad enough that they are advertising this event.

What makes it worse is that the Australian Bishops have issued a public statement about a number of doctrinal problems with this book.

According to Catholic World News:

At their May meeting, the Australian bishops warn that Confronting Power calls into question "the authority of the Catholic Church to teach the truth definitively." The book reflects "Bishop Robinson’s uncertainty about the knowledge and authority of Christ himself," the bishops report.

The bishops' statement goes on to note problems with the bishop's book on "among other things, the nature of Tradition, the inspiration of the Holy Scripture, the infallibility of the Councils and the Pope, the authority of the Creeds, the nature of the ministerial priesthood and central elements of the Church’s moral teaching."

Once again, what are they thinking over at St. John’s? First it was accolades for the former Montgomery Council member Marilyn Praisner. Now, they advertise of a dissident organization event with a bishop who seems to waiver on a number of doctrinal issues. What next?

VOTF at St. Rose of Lima in Gaithersburg

You hear much about being faithful to the teachings of the Church, and yet, right here in the Archdiocese of Washington DC, the Voice of the Faithful (VOTF) is given a warm reception at St. Rose of Lima in Gaithersburg.

On April 22, 2008 a presentation was held at the St. Joseph Room (talk about adding insult to injury) by VOTF.

(This must be Dissent Week at St. Rose, since this is the second such event there. I guess with the Pope gone, the media shilling for Obama once again, pastors and their ministry leaders are going back to undermining the Church.)

You remember St. Rose from an earlier posting. One of their parishioner's is on the Board of Directors of Rent-a-Priest. Another dissident group.

What is Msgr. Dudzaik (the pastor) thinking? Maybe he isn't.

Here is he allowing a group that supports homosexuality, abortion, contraception, female priests and other dissident principles.

The VOTF deceives faithful Catholics into believing it is a legitimate Catholic organization with slogans such as "support those who have been abused" and "support priests of integrity". However, the group is tied to dissident, radical, anti-Vatican groups, such as Call to Action and We are Church, which strongly reject Catholic moral principles.

Archbishop Wuerl needs to publicly admonish Msgr. Dudzaik and ban VOTF from any Catholic parish.

No wonder why the Church is in the state that it is in. Those whom are placed in authority are doing whatever they can to undermine it.

As I have said before, the is THE ROT FROM WITHIN.
