A DC Priest Refused His Paycheck...

 

Priests in the Archdiocese of Washington are given a paycheck, like any other priest in any other diocese.  Well, it seems that the Arch. of Washington has denied a priest his pay, serving in a position that the Cardinal has mandated him to do.

Last week I was refused my paycheck. This of course is not exactly shocking. My homosexual Cardinal of Washington has already asked Rome to dismiss me from priesthood because he claims I am disobedient. I am not disobedient! We have spoken. He destroys men!s lives. I have witnessed him destroy the good names of priests. Rather I have been very frank to his face and told him I will not be coerced by his own abuse of the powers he holds as my bishop.

Since the 1860s my Archbishop has been a champion protector among our sexually promiscuous American priests and bishops. In my letter sent in late May 2023, I asked him if he had ever lied down and made live with another homosexual man? I asked because I received a phone call informing me that this Cardinal, Wilton Gregory had been known as the “African Queen” when he was the Archbishop of Atlanta. So I wrote and asked him if this was true? That was around May 30,2023. I have yet to hear back from Archbishop Gregory. Nonetheless his silence has spoken.

Maryland Supreme Court affirms Catholic groups don’t have to give benefits to homosexual partners

 

The Maryland Supreme Court ruled 4-3 on August 14 that Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is not required to extend marriage benefits to “married” homosexuals under state law.

As covered by LifeSiteNews and the Lepanto Institute in 2020, the suit highlighted multiple details casting doubt on CRS’s fidelity to Catholic principles, including having a senior executive vice president in a same-sex “marriage” and then-CEO Dr. Carolyn Woo claiming there was “not a clear path” as to whether Catholic organizations should or should not employ people in same-sex “marriages” for “non-ministerial” positions.

Maryland’s Democrat Attorney General Anthony Brown condemned the ruling and called on the state legislature to pass new legislation forcing religious employers to recognize homosexual unions.

The Angry Catholic Podcast

I wanted to share with you a podcast that I regularly listen to: The Angry Catholic.

Now, I don't listen to a lot of podcasts, especially ones more than ten or fifteen minutes in length, but I do listen to this one.

The show is focuses on the goings on in the Church in the US.  

It is broken up into four segments: An Introduction and three 15 to 20 minute segments.  Sometimes they all focus on the same theme/topic, and sometimes, the segments will focus on different topics.  I will say that each week I do learn something from the podcast. 

How did it come about?   According to Paul:  

Twice in two different dioceses, my sons were put in direct contact with priests who had abused children and the Bishops knew.  The McCarrick revelation and the release of the Pa Grand Jury report make me ANGRY and there needs to be an outlet to discuss the issues in a public format. I have spoken with many different people about the current situation in the Church, and I found people either didn’t know about, didn’t care, or thought that the abuse scandal was from long ago.

I have seen nothing so far to make me believe that most of the bishops are taking this situation seriously enough. Our bishop sent a DVD to each parish about the scandal.  The presentation was so offensive, filled with “Bishop Speak” and sounded like it was written by an overpaid PR firm.  My family and I literally got up and walked out a third of the way through the DVD presentation.  I was outraged that our bishop tried to protect himself and said nothing about his involvement in the scandal.  He can behave this way because we allow it.  He thinks that there is no one to hold him accountable for his actions.  If the laity continues to go to Mass, stay quiet, and send money to him, why would he have any reason to think otherwise.

I no longer trust that our bishops will protect their flock.  I strongly feel that it is the Bishops of the United States’ responsibility to come clean and be truthful if there is any hope of regaining that trust with the laity.  I have seen nothing to date that would make me believe that they are serious about being truthful with us. Leaders in the Church that are not truthful and forthright should not be allowed to continue in their positions.  We cannot wait for our bishops to wait out the storm.  We need to demand that they right the ship.

Cokie Roberts

There has been a great deal written about Cokie Robert's, who passed away recently.  In particular, about her Catholicism.  I don't know her, never met her.  

However, none of the reports talk about what she thought of Catholic teaching:  

Cokie Roberts, political commentator for ABC News and National Public Radio, has publicly attacked Pope Benedict XVI as "really lacking in the theological virtue of charity," "an extremely controversial choice" and "the most conservative voice of Catholicism."  In her syndicated column with husband Steve Roberts, she has espoused abortion rights and ridiculed pro-lifers as "extremists."  The Robertses characterized the federal ban on partial-birth abortion as "off the track" and "cynical games-playing" by pro-life activists.  They have argued that the authority of the Catholic bishops has been significantly weakened, in part because of their teaching on homosexuality and contraception: "It’s as if they are asking to be ignored."

Still looking for a fundraising job with the Archdiocese? What's Up with Holy Trinity?

It seems that still, two of the key fundraising jobs in the Archdiocese are not filled.  See below.

Now, who would want to fill a job that raises money for those who lie, cover-up and are helping to destroy the Church from within?   To be honest, there are many people, esp. when the pay is lucrative.  The only problem is that if you don't produce, you are out within a year.  

Also, our colleague over at Restore DC Catholicism is reporting that the one and only, Fr. James "Church teaching on homosexuality is not authoritative" Martin.  He will be at that long time hotbed of radicalism, Holy Trinity in Georgetown.  

For a while I thought that they had calmed down, but I was wrong.  Of course, +Gregory will not do a damn thing about it, because he "loves" Fr. Martin.  (And, I don't mean it in a sexual way -- at least I do not believe so.)   It should be noted that their donations are down by about 23%.  Of course, this is all due to the sexual abuse problems, according to them.

Oh, did you notice in their bulletin of Sept. 8th that there is a half page article about the LBGTQRSTUVWXYZ efforts going on at Holy Trinity.  And, do you notice whom they quote?  That's right, our own +Gregory.   Talk about further dividing our church.


 

Catholic Standard Review (Feb. 21, 2019)

Well, I am very late on this review, but due to work (a very nasty habit -- just kidding), I was unable to get around to a review of the Catholic Standard.  So here are a couple of take aways...

• The Editor's Notebook highlights the fact that the Archdiocese of Washington will now have a Director of Digital Media.
• We have a Catholic News Service (CNS) story about McCarrick being removed from the clerical state.  It does mention that he has been living at a Capuchin friary in Kansas since September 2018.  Although it does not mention where he now, we can safely assume that he is still there.  No mention of (1) who is paying for this and (2) of Pope Francis' rehabilitation of him a few years ago.
• We have a Catholic Standard story on McCarrick but makes no mention of Cardinal Wuerl's passing along a report of sexual abuse to the Papal Nuncio years before. We also have no mention of where he (McCarrick) is staying or who is paying for it.  It just rehashes the known.  Interesting how those facts are not mentioned.
• There is a CNS story on the Vatican Abuse Sumit (Page 5) but there is no mention of homosexual bishops and priests, and there abuse of seminarians and young men. All of this started with McCarrick and now the message seems to be: "There is nothing to see here, folks."  There are also really no solutions presented.  To be expected. 
• We see that there is a "Engaging the Mission" workshop for parish leaders on March 16th.  Wonder if there will be any sessions on the abuse in the church by priests and bishops and the cover up by the bishops.  
• We have an article on how the Archdiocese won a $10K grant dealing with diversity and the fact that Imacculee Ilibagiza spoke at St. Andrew's the Apostle on the Rwanda Genocide.  I am sorry I missed the talk.
• We see that the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) is fighting the End of Life Option Act.  
• A CNS story on Lent and the church crisis.  One of the interesting things about this is that it includes a comment by the former head of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious.  The LCWR has resisted and remains silent on the abuse by nuns, against other nuns and the laity.  
• We have an article on how people are attempting to support Holy Family School in Hyattsville, MD.  I think that is great but how come some of the money that is given to Christo Rey HS, cannot be given to them?  I mean it is apx. $5million spend of CRHS.
• There is a rather lackluster article on supporting the Appeal.  Restates much of what we have heard before.  My recommendation is:  Don't Give.  When it hurts the pocketbook, is when they will really notice the anger.
• There is a two page article on Jubilee Religious Anniversaries.  Did you notice that of the seven women religious, the two who did not have a profile picture were the one's in habits?   However, let us congratulate the two consecrated women of Regnum Christi.

Is Catholic Clergy Sex Abuse Related to Homosexual Priests?

On Nov. 2, the Ruth Institute published a new report that dares to ask a question many researchers — and Catholics — have been afraid to ask: What has been the role of active homosexuality and homosexual subcultures in the priesthood and in seminaries on the sex-abuse crisis?

The report — which indicates a very strong correlation between homosexual priests and homosexual subcultures and the incidence of clergy sexual abuse — is in part a response to the two important studies commissioned by the U.S. Bishops in the face of the sex-abuse crisis that were conducted by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Now, to be honest or as they use to say in IBM many years ago, "Open Kimono,"  I have not read the report, but just the article.  However, if our bishops and Catholic laity continue to put their heads in the sand about this, it will only continue to erode the confidence in the and respect for the Church.

Dear Holy Father and Bishops of the United States:

As Catholic laymen, we are faithful husbands, fathers, business leaders, lawyers, tradesmen, medical doctors, professors, teachers, artists, and leaders of Catholic lay apostolates. But most fundamentally, we are men in love with Christ and His Church, and it is for this reason that we beseech you to purge the corruption which has so grotesquely disfigured the face of Christ’s Bride. The present scandals have placed our wives, sisters, brothers, and children in danger. Therefore, echoing the words St. Catherine of Siena addressed to Pope Gregory XI, we beseech you to “sleep no longer, and raise the standard [of Christ] courageously.” The Church needs purification, and by virtue of your offices as our shepherds, no one is more qualified to bring about this purification than yourselves. We beg you to do so without a moment’s delay.

Taking courage from St. Paul, and knowing that “Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” (Rm 5:20), we are appalled by the recent abuses. We have read of the allegations against Archbishop Theodore McCarrick; the grand jury report regarding the Church in Pennsylvania; the horrific abuse in Honduras and Chile; and the rampant reports of clerical homosexual activity, pedophilia, and ephebophilia throughout the global presbytery. Most recently, we have read Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò’s testimony alleging that bishops in senior leadership positions within both the Holy See and the United States have covered up sexual abuse, evidencing widespread and systemic corruption throughout the Church’s hierarchy.

Holy Father, we come to you for answers. You personally have been faced with allegations. These allegations have been leveled by a high-ranking church official, Archbishop Viganò. Further, many bishops in the United States have publicly stated that they believe these allegations should be investigated. We implore you to address them. Specifically, we request that you answer the questions posed by our sisters in their letter to you, issued on August 30, 2018.

You may not be born Homosexual!

A new report presents biological, psychological, and social science evidence that many commonly held ideas about gender and sexuality lack scientific support.

The report, authored by Dr. Lawrence S. Mayer and Dr. Paul R. McHugh and published in the fal 2016 edition of The New Atlantis, is titled Sexuality and Gender: Findings from the Biological, Psychological, and Social Sciences.

Mayer and McHugh considered more than 200 peer-review studies related to human sexuality and found that the understandings of sexual orientation and gender identity as "innate" rather than fluid are "not supported by scientific evidence."

 The Director and Editor in Chief of the Catholic News Service, which is the official news and information service of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has issued public statements decrying proposed legislation in several states that would protect religious freedom and deny men pretending to be women the “right” to enter women’s bathrooms. 

Tony Spence been the head of the Catholic News Service since 2004.  Over the last few weeks, Spence has been publishing statements on his own twitter feed, identifying him as the head of CNS, speaking out against legislative efforts to protect the religious freedoms of individuals, businesses and churches.

D.C. council eliminates religious schools’ protection from gay discrimination suits

A vote December 2 by the Washington, D.C., City Council could compel private religious schools and universities in the nation’s capital to allow groups that oppose the schools’ moral values access to their campuses, programs, and funds.

The council voted to eliminate faith-based schools’ 25-year-old legal protections from discrimination lawsuits as part of a “human rights amendment.” Barring an act of Congress, D.C.’s religious schools will likely have to go against their religious values when it comes to permitting use to their campuses or programs.

The city’s rules hold that it’s “unlawful discriminatory practice” to limit any use of facilities, services, or programs based on “sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.” With the religious exemption, Washington D.C. religious schools had been able to restrict finances, amenities and approval from individuals and groups “organized for, or engaged in, promoting, encouraging, or condoning any homosexual act, lifestyle, orientation, or belief.”

But let me that I agree with Msgr. Pope (which will probably not makes things better for him).  Cardinal Dolan is wrong and Cardinal Wuerl should be ashamed of himself.  The gay crowd is celebrating this one.

Monsignor Charles Pope put up a fiery response to Cardinal Timothy Dolan's decision to allow organized LGBTs to march in the Catholic St. Patrick's Day Parade next year. Just as quickly, the angry column was yanked by his superiors from the official website of the Archdiocese of Washington, DC. 

Pope, a popular and well-connected priest, called for the end not just of the St. Patrick's Day Parade but the annual Al Smith Dinner, which is also the scene of anti-Catholic politicians being feted by the archbishop of New York and other New York Catholic swells.

On this St. Patrick's Day...

On this St. Patrick's Day, I have heard that Guinness and Sam Adams will drop sponsorship, respectively,  of the NYC and Boston St. Patrick's Day parades.  Again, what we see is that we have move away from tolerance to outright acceptance or else be destroyed.

I saw this and decided to re post it, because it is so true.

Congratulations Fr. Greg...

WASHINGTON — Father Greg Shaffer, the Catholic chaplain at George Washington University, learned early that a good pastor can defy the odds and lead the young to embrace a priestly vocation.

Growing up in Bethesda, Md., Father Shaffer was inspired by the example of Msgr. Thomas Wells, a charismatic figure in the archdiocese who possessed a deep and infectious love for the Eucharist.

Msgr. Wells brought many young men to the priesthood before he was murdered during a 2000 robbery at his Maryland parish; he was 56 years old.

Now, 13 years later, that beloved pastor remains a source of inspiration for Father Shaffer, who has revealed a knack for fostering vocations at a secular university better known for jump-starting careers in government.

Since the priest’s arrival four years ago, Sunday Mass attendance at the campus Newman Center has increased from 100 to about 400 people — and, this year, four men will enter the seminary
