MCC Admits to Supporting Illegal Aliens

The Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) has finally admitted that they support illegal aliens receiving support via the Dream Act.

For many months, they refused to admit that the Dream Act was a measure to support those who are in the country illegally. They would use the term "undocumented" or simply call them "immigrants" but would never use the term "illegal." Now, they have finally admitted it.

It is time for Catholics to stand up to the MCC and tell them to stop their support of illegal aliens off of the backs (and taxes) of those who are here legally. If you can't win taxpayer breaks for those who send their children to Catholic schools, then don't support an additional tax burden on those who are here legally.

Gasp! A Catholic oragnization admitted to helping the marginalized, the outcast, the poor. (What a novel idea!)

Whoever heard of the poor, the marginalized, the outcast paying taxes for three years to get in state college tuition? Now maybe I'm wrong, but I think the poor, the marginailzed and outcast children are still in Latin America or Africa (Sudan, Somalia, Haiti come to mind) with their law abiding parents. My scarce dollars will go to feed, clothe and house them -- i.e. not one more dime to the homosexual country club--and that's who this law will ultimately support which is why they are for it.

What is the moral position of a priest to a law breaker? Isn't breaking the law a sin? How do you make restitution while continuing to live in sin?

Poor yes, but not all and I'm sure they prefer it to life at home but outcast and marginalized? Are you kidding?

You are still subsidizing illegals since the Archdiocese of Washington Catholis schools all accept illegals and all make then fully eligible for financial aid.

I am not at all kidding. There are millions of outcasts in our own country; the marginalized are not relegated to third world countries. Jesus, of course, exemplifies treating the marginalized and outcasts with respect and love. Was it not Jesus who ate with the tax collectors, spoke to prostitutes, and touched the lepers? I think it could be said that Jesus preferred interacting with the outcasts and the vulnerable in society (and it doesn't get much more outcast than tax collector, prositute, or leper). Are we not to follow His example?

Breaking the law of God is a sin; breaking the law established by governments is sometimes sinful. There is a distinction. God did not bust out his globe and draw lines on a map establishing the borders of the United States of America. I do not believe that moving to America-even if the person circumvented the immigration system-is immoral. That is not to say I favor open borders; on the contrary, I support strong border enforcement (a fence would be nice), but I also believe that we have to treat the 12 million illegal immigrants in our country respectfully, lovingly, and humanely.

I actually do not mind the Church giving financial aid to illegals to attend Catholic schools because many of their children are Catholic. I however do mind the Archdiocese giving financial aid to so many non Catholic children because their parents really do not want a religious education.
