Repeal the Dream Act -- Was I Wrong on This or What!

Click here to sign the petition to REPEAL THE MARYLAND DREAM ACT.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Well folks, I was wrong on the Maryland Dream Act. Yep, hard to believe. Even harder to believe that I would admit to it, but I am.

You see the figure of $16,000 per student seems to a bit high. It is actually about $12,000 per illegal alien for a two year period. The total cost was seen as $800K in the first year, and $3million at the end of the third year.

It also seems that the figures provided by Legislative Reference were only for one (1) community college, not for the sixteen (16) that are in the State of Maryland.

Therefore, if there are apx. 1,000 illegal aliens, each costing the taxpayer $12K, the ACTUAL COST IS $12million minimum per year.

Now, the state believes there will be apx. 5,000 illegal alien students eligible per year, so you do the math.

Oh, and don't forget, after community college comes the four year programs. How much more will that cost us?

Sign the petition!

Stop the hijacking of your tax dollars by CASA of MD and the Maryland Catholic Conference to support illegal activities. Send them a message that if we do not tolerate this type of behavior by them.

Help Democracy Work: Put the Repeal of the Dream Act on the Ballot

Click here to sign the petition to REPEAL THE MARYLAND DREAM ACT.

++++++++++++++++++++

It is time for all Catholics (and non-Catholics) to allow the people of Maryland to vote if they support the Maryland Dream Act.

Remember the following:

  • These are illegal aliens who have broken Federal law

  • For each illegal alien who attends a Maryland college, it will cost the taxpayers $16,00o per student in today's cost.

  • It will cost (a conservative estimate) over $3million per year to the Maryland taxpayers
Give the citizens of Maryland the opportunity to vote on this. Why was this rammed down our throats.

By doing so, you will also be sending a message to the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) that we will not tolerate their support of this measure and their association with Casa of Maryland. In addition, this puts them in bed with the same politicians who support gay marriage and abortion.

The Census Follow-up

A few weeks ago, I heard a knock at the door.

I opened it and found a man, in his 30's, who identified himself as a census worker (and showed me his badge). He stated he was there to conduct a follow-up.

I explained to him, in a rather annoyed voice, that I sent in my census form with the appropriate information.

He again explained that he was there for a follow-up.

He asked me for my name, since he wanted to verify the information on the form.

I gave him the number of people living at this residence.

He again asked for my name. I told him that all he needs to know is that there were X number of people living at this residence.

He then asked to verify my phone number. I repeated the number of people living at the residence and then closed the door on him.

I guess the US Census was not satisfied with the fact that I gave them just the number of people who live with me and that they were of the human race.

I wonder what would have happened if I told them I had 13 illegal aliens living with me, in a one bathroom, three bedroom house? I probably would have gotten a fruit basket with an offer of help from both Casa of Maryland and the Maryland Catholic Conference.

Well...a postive from the Madoff Scadal...

As many of us have come to realise, the ponzi scheme created by Bernie Madoff hurt many innocent people. However, there was one ray of sunshine that has peaked thru the dark clouds: it has hurt abortion groups.

According to the Catholic News Agency (CNA):

Picower Foundation, listed as the 71st-largest in the nation by the Council on Foundations, claimed assets of $1 billion... was forced to close in December due to financial problems with its assets, which were managed by Madoff.

Picower was one of a handful of foundations willing to stick their necks out and significantly fund the three organizations that handle virtually all major reproductive rights-related litigation and legal advocacy in the United States,” the pro-abortion rights Goldstein wrote. “Now the Center for Reproductive Rights needs to make up a $600,000 shortage in 2009; Planned Parenthood is out $484,000; the ACLU's Reproductive Freedom Project is off $200,000.”

The story continued on by saying...

The ACLU’s Reproductive Freedom Project authored the 2002 report “Religious Refusals and Reproductive Rights.” Characterizing the expansion of Catholic hospitals as a “growth in the sectarian health system,” the report advocated restricting the ability of Catholic hospitals and other institutions to refuse to perform procedures they find objectionable, such as sterilizations or abortions.

“The law should not permit an institution’s religious strictures to interfere with the public’s access to reproductive health care,” the report’s executive summary argued. Though granting that medical professionals should be allowed to opt-out of procedures to which they object, the ACLU’s Reproductive Freedom Project insisted that they must cooperate in giving “complete and accurate information” and in making “appropriate referrals.”

But let's be honest folks, this is just a short term hurt.

With a couple of months, they will more than make up the lost $$$ because the Most Merciful, the Lord High Barack Obama and his cronies will direct a boatload of taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood, et al whether you like it or not.

Oh, and you can thank Catholics who voted for Obama like Mr. John J. Koback, a member of the Knights of Columbus, who also happens to be the parish accountant of Our Lady of Grace (Silver Spring, MD).

Congratulations.

Open Letter to Mr. C. Wainwright, CCHD Director for the Archdiocese of Washington DC

Dear Mr. Wainwright:

It looks like the CCHD is pulling out the stops this year to ensure that it continues to receive adequate funding.

I received the CCHD flier at my parish. As I read through it, you could easily tell that the black eye received from the ACORN scandal has influenced it but not enough to say “we will reform.”

Even as it attempts to show that CCHD funds projects to break the cycle of poverty, some of the organizations that you focus on, raised additional questions for me.

CASA of Maryland. I have written previously about CASA and how it seeks, with the help of local politicians and the Maryland Catholic Conference, to do whatever it can to assist illegal aliens and thwart Federal immigration laws. The recent death of
Tai Lam on a commuter bus by an illegal alien and those with ties to MS-13 seems to have done nothing to change the thinking of CCHD and MCC.

Action in Montgomery (AIM). Although this group is made up of a number of churches, and claims to be bi-partisan, it is an affiliate of the Industries Areas Foundation. Have you heard of that group before? Of course you have, it was founded by Saul Alinsky. And who was greatly influenced by Saul Alinksy? Yep, the President-Elect.

Partnership for Renewal in Southern and Central Maryland (PRISCM) also has an indirect link to Alinsky, through the Gamaliel Foundation. Although, you claim that CCHD funds groups which are non-partisan, but the issues it “fights for” do have a political component. According to Wikipedia:

Gamaliel has refocused its efforts from neighborhood organizations to coalitions that can influence wider metropolitan areas and regions. Gamaliel has begun to formulate strategies for impacting national policy on such issues as comprehensive
immigration reform, health care for all, jobs and full employment, affordable housing, and public transportation.

Considering the fact that your flier shows CASA and PRISCM working together on “immigration reform,” I have no question on where they stand on this issue and that it is a partisan one.

In fact, the PRISCM entry on Wikipedia references none other than the President-Elect. So much for non-partisanship.

And, as what a friend of mine likes to call "cocktail party information" guess who hired the President-Elect to be a community organizer. Yep, none other than the Gamaliel group. It just seems to get better and better.

Therefore, Mr. Wainwright, I will not be giving to CCHD and urging a boycott of CCHD until the entire program is either disbanded or overhauled. The use of funds from Catholics for non-Catholic groups needs to be ended, especially if they are used to support agendas which are against our faith.

We must only fund organizations which are FAITHFUL to the MAGESTERIUM of the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.

Sincerely,

AWashingtonDCCatholic

The MCC, Illegal Aliens and Driver Licenses

The Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) has argued for giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens for a while.

Now, their “shtick” is that this encourages “safe driving and honest identification.”

What a load of cow manure!

What the MCC is supporting is another way to put our nation at risk. That is right folks, the MCC is willing to put all citizens and those here legally in danger, all in the name of helping those who have broken the law in the first place.

In addition, just because you have a license, doesn’t mean you are a safe driver. Why don’t we take the case of the illegal alien who killed a
Marine and his girlfriend before Thanksgiving. Or maybe we should just forget about University of Maryland student in May of 2007?

Why do they flock to MD? Because VA, PA and DC do not allow illegal aliens to obtain a license and they know that MD hands them out like candy on Halloween. Did you know that MD even has special hours at the DMV for illegals? Did you know that Casa of Maryland has meetings in Catholic parishes for illegal aliens on how to obtain driver’s licenses?

Over the last few days, Gov. Martin O’Malley (MD) has decided to comply with the REAL ID ACT. Starting January 1, 2010 the state will begin to require that all drivers prove they are US citizens.

This is very welcome news. Many of us have been saying for the last few years that we need to stop making Maryland a haven for illegal aliens.

Now, the bad news. This does not take effect until January 2010. In addition, anyone born after January 1, 1964 will be allowed to keep their current license till 2017. So, he is giving all those who support illegal aliens 10 years to help change the law. By that time, we will have a new President and he/she (heaven forbid it is Hillary) may repeal it.

So, there you have it.

NB: Guess which organization the
MCC links to? You guess it, Casa of Maryland.
