MCC = EPIC FAIL AGAIN

Well, as is normally the case, the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) is falling in line with the radical left regarding ILLEGAL ALIENS.

It seems that the new approach will be to call them refugees.  In that manner, then can get in much easier.  

No, these are not refugees.  And the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) is really insulting those who have come as refugees, such as those fleeing Vietnam after the fall, Cambodia, the Sudan, etc.

Once again, I call for the closure of the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) and do not give the the CCHD donation in August.

As usual, the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) is on the side of ILLEGAL ALIENS.

There most recent propaganda statement makes no mention that:

• These youth and adults have entered the country ILLEGALLY
• That there are MS-13 and other gang members coming through
• That US Government is not defending our borders
• That they are siding with the same government that is willing to force them to violate their faith.
• That the US Bishops are willing to take $$$ from the federal government to help house and protect those who have violated our laws.
• That this will cost the taxpayers millions of dollars to house, educate, medicate ILLEGAL ALIENS and instead of putting the $$ into our churches and schools, our churches and schools will close.

THE MCC NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN AND ALL OF THEIR EMPLOYEES FIRED!

MCC in bed with those who seek to undermine the Catholic Church

Once again, the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) is willing to "hop into bed" in a manner of speaking with anyone who will support the end of the death penalty in Maryland, including those who do not support Church teachings.

The MCC has this LONG tradition of doing this.  From the days of Dick Dowling, now to Mary Ellen Russell, they seem to be willing to latch on to anyone, on any issue that they support.

As I pointed out to you a while back, the MCC is in bed with the NAACP (and had their interns proudly take photos with them) -- they are pro-abortion and pro-gay -- and now the Quixote Center, which supports women's ordination, etc.  

In fact, a reader pointed out to me that the MCC is a member of CASE of MD, which works to abolish the death penalty.  They are an umbrella group of organizations -- including pro-gay and pro-abortion.

I don't know why the MCC trusts the State of Maryland to keep criminals locked up.  Look what Homeland Security has done to illegal aliens, who have committed crimes.  They have released hundreds of them.

Maybe it is time we end the Maryland Catholic Conference. 

 

Unions, Gay Marriage and the Catholic Church

Now, John Sweeney (AFL-CIO President) is a good friend of Cardinal Wuerl and was even honored by him. Each year, we have a Mass honoring labor (and he unions).

However, will the Church continue to support the AFL-CIO, esp. when they pumped in over $500,000 to support gay marriage in Maryland last year. Who knows how much they will spend this year.

Personally, I believe that Cardinal Wuerl and the other bishops will do nothing and continue their alliances with labor unions, as they continue their support of this issue, as well as, the worst president in US history.

MCC - Using 9/11 to advance illegal immigration

The Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) on their Justice for Maryland (Illegal) Immigrants Facebook Page, posted the following comment:


Remembering 9/11 - with open hearts and minds for those pursuing our shared American dream.


Now, tell me MCC, what does illegal immigration have to do with 9/11, other than most of the hijackers were here illegally?


Are you trying to use 9/11 to gain sympathy for your cause?


This seems like the Obama mantra of never letting a good crisis go to waste.




Shame on you MCC.

The Maryland State Board of Elections validated over 63,000 signatures to place the Repeal of the Maryland Dream Act before the CITIZENS of Maryland. There are another 40,000 to be verified.

All I can say is WOW and THANK YOU!!

This week's Catholic Standard has a full page article, written by the Communications Office, on the Maryland Catholic Conference's Immigration Task Force to fight this repeal. (Thanks Melvin for getting this to me, so that I don't have to get it at Church this weekend.)

Now you can tell it is important to the Archdiocese, because it is on Page 3 -- and that is where you want important stories to be when you open a tabloid -- and written by the Communications Office because it is a "Special to the Standard".

So, let's take a look at the Standard story a bit more in depth...

• There is little mention that these students are illegal aliens (the legal term).



• They do not mention that will cost the taxpayers of Maryland $12,000 per student per year. With a possible cost to the taxpayers of over $60 million per year.



• They state that these students will not take slots away from residents but they will take away slots from other citizens! What the MCC ITF is saying is that who cares if it takes away from other US citizens, as long as it does not take away from Maryland citizens.



• The MCC states that they do not condone people breaking the law, but they they go right back to the argument that we should embrace the law breakers and give them this benefit.



• According to Msgr. Brennan of St. Martin of Tours in Gaithersburg we must allow these students to attend at a discount. Baloney. We don't have to and should not.



• The article states that they will getting on the phones and into parishes. Let's see if we will get sermons on this from the MCC, parish inserts, etc. Let's keep a watchful eye on this one.

It is time we tell the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) and the Archdiocese that there are more important things to focus on -- like tax breaks for Catholic school parents and stopping gay marriage.

Stop wasting your time on this nonsense and support JUSTICE for US CITIZENSHIP.

Well folks, I was wrong on the Maryland Dream Act. Yep, hard to believe. Even harder to believe that I would admit to it, but I am.

You see the figure of $16,000 per student seems to a bit high. It is actually about $12,000 per illegal alien for a two year period. The total cost was seen as $800K in the first year, and $3million at the end of the third year.

It also seems that the figures provided by Legislative Reference were only for one (1) community college, not for the sixteen (16) that are in the State of Maryland.

Therefore, if there are apx. 1,000 illegal aliens, each costing the taxpayer $12K, the ACTUAL COST IS $12million minimum per year.

Now, the state believes there will be apx. 5,000 illegal alien students eligible per year, so you do the math.

Oh, and don't forget, after community college comes the four year programs. How much more will that cost us?

Help Stop SB167

It is amazing how the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) will not tell you the whole truth about this bill.

You may have gotten an URGENT notice from them (with my comments):

SB 167 would extend in-state tuition rates at community colleges to Maryland high school graduates who are academically-eligible. (Sounds very good and uplifting.) The bill, entitled "Higher Education - Tuition Charges - Maryland High School Students," would make a college education possible for a new generation of immigrant (NOTE that they did not say illegal alieans -- which is what their legal status in the US is. This is comment should NOT be taken as against those who are here legally, which is what the MCC does to attack those who oppose it. It is just like crying "RACIST.") Marylanders and would give these young people one of America's most prized gifts - opportunity. (Well then, why should they cut the line ahead of those who are waiting patiently to get in. Why not offer in-state tuition to everyone? At what cost is it to those who are here legally and to taxpayers? Don't taxpayers have a say in this matter? Don't the children of those here legally have an opportunity?)

The bill would extend in-state tuition eligibility at community colleges to Maryland high school graduates whose parent or guardian have paid Maryland income taxes, who have attended at least 2 years of high school in Maryland, and who sign an affidavit stating that they will apply for permanent residency within 30 days of becoming eligible to do so, among other conditions. (Notice, that they make no mention that they people are here illegally. Why only two years? Why not seven or ten years? Who the hell made up the two year number? Note that they are allowed to cut the line in front of everyone else -- so much for fair play. Notice how they are supporting those who break our laws. Just file a couple of papers and we will look the other way. Oh, and who is really paying the bill on this -- those who are taxpayers.)

This legislation would help lift up all people so that together we can make America stronger and healthier for future generations. (But what about those who abide by the law and come in legally? Don't they count. Guess Not.)

You notice how the MCC is still in bed with Casa of Maryland. There is a nice link on the MCC's website.

If the Catholic Church would support the laws against illegal aliens, this death would have never taken place.

Once again, I am calling for the shut down of the MCC.

Maryland House of Delagates to looking to Erode Marriage

Maryland residents: Ask your delegates to oppose SB 566/HB 733 and SB 597/HB 746

Marriage would be seriously undermined if two bills are given final approval in the House of Delegates as early as tomorrow (Thursday).

The bills, SB 566/HB 733 and SB 597/HB 746, are on their way to the House floor for final votes. They have already been approved by the Senate, so this is the last chance to stop them from becoming law. Sb 566/HB 733 and SB 597/HB 746, while well intentioned, cement the term "domestic partnership" in law and grant such relationships marriage-equivalency status in certain parts of the law.

SB 566/HB 733 gives domestic partners equal status as married couples in the Health statute. The bill undermines the current legal status of marriage, and is not necessary to grant medical decision-making rights to unmarried couples.

In fact, the General Assembly already passed a law in 2006 (Senate Bill 369) that ensures advance directives are readily available to guarantee the ability to appoint medical decision-making and hospital visitation rights.

SB 597/HB 746 exempts current and former domestic partners from recordation and transfer taxes. This legislation is open to abuse because it grants tax benefits for domestic partners, but defines that relationship very broadly. Most importantly, though, SB 597/HB 746 undermines marriage by granting marriage-equivalency status to unmarried couples, both heterosexual and homosexual. This ignores the true nature of marriage and will discourage opposite-sex couples from marrying because they will be able to receive financial benefits without having to make a commitment.

Please ask your delegates to reject SB 566/HB 733 and SB 597/HB 746.

Then, let's remember who voted for this, and vote against them in the next election.

MCC and the Death Penalty: A Case for It

As we know, there is a push among many Catholics to end the Death Penalty.

Here is what the Catechism says:

2267 Assuming that the guilty party's identity and responsibility have been fully determined, the traditional teaching of the Church does not exclude recourse to the death penalty, if this is the only possible way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor.

If, however, non-lethal means are sufficient to defend and protect people's safety from the aggressor, authority will limit itself to such means, as these are more in keeping with the concrete conditions of the common good and are more in conformity to the dignity of the human person.

Today, in fact, as a consequence of the possibilities which the state has for effectively preventing crime, by rendering one who has committed an offense incapable of doing harm - without definitely taking away from him the possibility of redeeming himself - the cases in which the execution of the offender is an absolute necessity "are very rare, if not practically non-existent."

However, there are some who commit crimes so heinous, so egregious that the only way the pubic will ever be safe is via the death penalty.

Take the case of Brandon T. Morris:

A state prison inmate who shot a correctional officer in the head while the officer pleaded for his life was sentenced to life without parole yesterday, to the displeasure of the victim's family and co-workers who had hoped for a death sentence.

After shooting Officer Wroten with the guard's gun early in the morning of Jan. 26, 2006, Morris briefly took a hospital visitor hostage, carjacked a taxi and forced the cabbie at gunpoint to drive him into nearby Pennsylvania, where the car crashed. Morris fled back into Maryland, where he was captured in an industrial park.

Given the amount of effort that it will take to guard him, as the article rightly points out, this is the perfect case for the death penalty.

The MCC instead of working to abolish it, should support it in specific circumstances, such as Brandon Morris, Jeffery Dahmer and the Unibomber.

The Maryland Catholic Conference and Illegals: Not Telling the Whole Story, Again.

According to the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC):

Undocumented immigrants are barred from receiving many federal benefits, including food stamps, temporary cash assistance (welfare), permanent housing, social security, the earned income tax credit and most forms of Medicaid.

Once again, the gang at the MCC is stating a correct fact to give you the impression that illegal aliens get nothing. However, the truth is very, very different.

Although they may be barred, in reality we know that there are billions being spent on them.

The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that illegal aliens cost Medicaid approximately $2.5 billion per year; and, Food Assistance Programs, such as food stamps, WID and free school lunches, approximately $1.9 billion per year.

So, it is costing you, a grant total $4.4 billion per year.

Once again, we have the MCC not quite telling the full story.

Once again, Richard Dowling, Julie Varner and the crew should be given a couple of pink slips.

The Rot Within.

A few weeks ago, I posted a blog about the Montgomery County Transgender Bill. For a couple of days I kept asking, "Where was the Church? Why haven't they opposed this?"

Nothing was publicized by the Maryland Catholic Conference.

There was nothing in the Catholic Standard (the "official" newspaper of the Archdiocese of Washington).

There was no statement by the Archbishop.

There was no statement in my parish bulletin.

Nothing, Nada, Zip.

When I asked a good friend of mine about this, he said, "The reason they are saying nothing is because they are hiding them." I thought about this, but said nothing.

A few days later, I was talking to another friend, someone who would know about such things. When I asked him about this he said: "They (the bishops, the Catholic press, etc.) have not said anything because they are scared that if they come out against this, there will be priests who are outed because they either do it or have relations with those who do."

When will Archbishop Wuerl come clean on this matter? When will Bishop Laverde (Arlington) come clean? When will Cardinals Egan (NY) and Mahoney (LA) come clean? When will they all come clean?

This, my friends, is the rot from within. There are a number of priests who are active homosexuals.

When will they get rid of the rot within?

Transgender Bill Passes, Catholic Church Silent

The Montgomery County (MD) Council passed a Transgender non-discrimination bill (Bill 23-07) today. One of the most frightening aspects is that there is no exemption for religious organizations.

So, we have a bill that could force Catholic schools to hire a transgender or transsexual teacher or even a principal. Wouldn’t that be an interesting sight in a second or third grade class.

However, what I find very interesting is that over the last few weeks, I saw no notice in the parish bulletin asking us to write to the Council, no word from the pastor (and I consider him to be a good priest), no mention of it neither in the Catholic Standard nor from the Maryland Catholic Conference. (I did receive emails from the American Family Association (AFA) asking me to contact the Council requesting them to vote against it. I did.)

I wonder how many of my fellow parishioners voted for these council members in the last election? I wonder how many will vote again for them again because they are “open-minded” and for “social justice?” I wonder when our Catholic leaders will stand up to these politicians or is it simply too late?

Soak the Rich but let's not worry about the MoCo Transgender Bill

The Catholic Standard (Nov. 8, 2007 Page 31) ran an article entitled: Taxes, health care and slots top MCC's concerns to state lawmakers. According to the article, Richard Dowling (MCC Exec. Director) said that the tax system should be guided by three principles: raising "adequate revenues to pay for the public needs of society, especially the basic needs of the poor, structured according to the principle of progressivity, so that those with relatively greater financial resources pay a higher rate of taxation," and families below the poverty line should not have to pay income taxes."

What is the "public needs of society?" Is it public safety? Is it a free elementary education? Is it a chicken in every pot? The problem with Mr. Dowling and the MCC is that they offer no definition of "basic needs." Is it is one of those open ended statements that can mean almost anything to anyone. To some it means an apartment with hot/cold running water, a fridge and a stove. To others, it means a one family house on an tract of land with two cars. Still to others, a vacation to Disney at least once in every child's lifetime.

There is also this "soak the rich" and the "government knows what to do best with your money" Marxist mentality at the MCC. As I said in my last posting, the more you hit people up with higher taxes, the less they are going to give to charity. When you reduce taxes, you actually increase revenue and when people keep more of their money, they usually donate more of it.

Now, while the MCC was looking to "soak the rich" they seemed to miss the entire effort by the Montgomery County Council to pass Bill 23-07 which was sponsored by Councilmembers Tractenbery, Ervin and Elrich. This bill would allow "Any place of public accommodation...must not...make any distinction based on gender identity." Gender identity is defined as "an individual's actual or perceived gender..." To quote a council member when asked by the mother of a 10 year old girl about this, the reply was: "I cannot absolutely put to rest your concern that girls might find themselves in a locker room or dressing room in the presence of a person who expresses or asserts herself as a woman but who still has male genitals..."

Where the heck was the MCC on this? Nowhere to be found.

I think that Archbishop Wuerl needs to hand out a couple of pink slips at the MCC starting with Mr. Dowling.
