Msgr. Pope on Traditionis Custodes

As a pastor of souls, I cannot find words to express the hurt and anger (righteous, I pray) I experience over the treatment of Catholics who are attached to the older forms of the liturgy and the sacraments. I have not seen such language or harshness directed against any other group, in or out of the Church. The tone is singular and shocking. Those who love the Traditional Latin Mass are my brothers and sisters in the Lord and I have long admired their tenacity and orthodoxy. Many of them have large families and take the faith very seriously. For them, Catholicism is not only a faith, but also a culture both ancient and new. They are up for the battle of living the faith in an increasingly secular world. They are not a particularly large segment of the Church in the United States, but they are one of the few segments of the Church that is growing and flourishing. They love the faith and the Mass, and I grieve that they are being treated so brusquely and harshly.

I worry about him because at some point +Gregory will probably come down hard on him.

The Church Militant has asked the question regarding McCarrick:  If McCarrick was able to travel around the world, give out large amounts of money, where did he get the $$$, if he had no bank accounts, investments, etc.?

Could the reason Cardinal Pell of Australia be in jail at the moment due to Mr. McCarrick and Cardinal Wuerl?

A WILD AND CRAZY WEEK in the Roman Catholic World and I will STAND AND FIGHT.

This has been a wild and crazy week in the Roman Catholic world.  Why?

• Amazonian Synod in Rome.  What about it?  Women Priests?  Women Deacon's?  Married Priests?  Pagan Rituals?  Ecological Sins.  And others...
• Did the Pope state that Jesus was not divine, during his time on earth?
• Death Penalty in America
• The Vatican Bank Scandal
• The Money Scam by Mr. McCarrick and Cardinal Wuerl
• Cardinal Sarah says that if you oppose the Pope, you are outside of the Church
• A NYC bishop has been removed due to sexual abuse  
• Dozen's of aborted babies in Ulrich Klopfer's car.

My head is about to explode with all of this stuff.  

It can become depressing.  

I was talking to Melvin about many of these issues and he said to me: "I really want to leave the Church.  These bishops are liars.  These priests are liars.  They really don't care of about us.  They live a sinful life, all the while using our charity, our goodness, to do it."

And how can you argue with this.  Melvin is correct.   

After talking with this person a bit more, I said: "This is why I write my blog.  I will STAND AND FIGHT."  I know that I am just one person, and I cannot make much of a difference, but I know that I can live with myself."

I urge all of you to stay and to STAND AND FIGHT.

And, I call upon Pope Francis to vacate the Chair of St. Peter, for the sake of the Church and the Faithful.

Is Msgr. Rossi being protected by the Vatican?

The other day I saw a recent photo pop up on Twitter of Monsignor Walter Rossi standing next to a group of friends and allies — Donald Wuerl (the disgraced former archbishop of Washington, D.C.), Callista and Newt Gingrich, and Archbishop Christophe Pierre, the pope’s representative in the United States. The last figure interested me the most: Why would the pope’s man in Washington be lending his prestige to a cleric under investigation for corruption by the archdiocese of Washington, D.C., and the diocese of Scranton, Pennsylvania? Wouldn’t he want to steer clear of him?

How evil has intertwined itself into every aspect of the Roman Catholic Church is simply amazing.

Catholic Standard Review (Feb. 21, 2019)

Well, I am very late on this review, but due to work (a very nasty habit -- just kidding), I was unable to get around to a review of the Catholic Standard.  So here are a couple of take aways...

• The Editor's Notebook highlights the fact that the Archdiocese of Washington will now have a Director of Digital Media.
• We have a Catholic News Service (CNS) story about McCarrick being removed from the clerical state.  It does mention that he has been living at a Capuchin friary in Kansas since September 2018.  Although it does not mention where he now, we can safely assume that he is still there.  No mention of (1) who is paying for this and (2) of Pope Francis' rehabilitation of him a few years ago.
• We have a Catholic Standard story on McCarrick but makes no mention of Cardinal Wuerl's passing along a report of sexual abuse to the Papal Nuncio years before. We also have no mention of where he (McCarrick) is staying or who is paying for it.  It just rehashes the known.  Interesting how those facts are not mentioned.
• There is a CNS story on the Vatican Abuse Sumit (Page 5) but there is no mention of homosexual bishops and priests, and there abuse of seminarians and young men. All of this started with McCarrick and now the message seems to be: "There is nothing to see here, folks."  There are also really no solutions presented.  To be expected. 
• We see that there is a "Engaging the Mission" workshop for parish leaders on March 16th.  Wonder if there will be any sessions on the abuse in the church by priests and bishops and the cover up by the bishops.  
• We have an article on how the Archdiocese won a $10K grant dealing with diversity and the fact that Imacculee Ilibagiza spoke at St. Andrew's the Apostle on the Rwanda Genocide.  I am sorry I missed the talk.
• We see that the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) is fighting the End of Life Option Act.  
• A CNS story on Lent and the church crisis.  One of the interesting things about this is that it includes a comment by the former head of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious.  The LCWR has resisted and remains silent on the abuse by nuns, against other nuns and the laity.  
• We have an article on how people are attempting to support Holy Family School in Hyattsville, MD.  I think that is great but how come some of the money that is given to Christo Rey HS, cannot be given to them?  I mean it is apx. $5million spend of CRHS.
• There is a rather lackluster article on supporting the Appeal.  Restates much of what we have heard before.  My recommendation is:  Don't Give.  When it hurts the pocketbook, is when they will really notice the anger.
• There is a two page article on Jubilee Religious Anniversaries.  Did you notice that of the seven women religious, the two who did not have a profile picture were the one's in habits?   However, let us congratulate the two consecrated women of Regnum Christi.

McCarrick Dismissed from the Clerical State

As had been widely expected, the Vatican today announced it had removed Theodore Edgar McCarrick from the clerical state.

Papal Foundation Scandal: What Role Did Cardinal Wuerl Play?

ROME, February 20, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Leaked documents obtained by LifeSiteNews connect the Pope himself to a new Vatican financial scandal and raise serious questions about his global reputation as the “pope for the poor.”

LifeSiteNews has obtained internal documents of the U.S.-based Papal Foundation, a charity with a stellar history of assisting the world’s poor, showing that last summer the Pope personally requested, and obtained in part, a $25 million grant to a corruption-plagued, Church-owned dermatological hospital in Rome accused of money laundering. Records from the financial police indicate the hospital has liabilities over one billion USD – an amount larger than the national debt of some 20 nations.

Despite opposition from the lay “stewards,” the bishops on the board voted in December to send an $8 million payment to the Holy See. In January, the documents reveal, lay members raised alarm about what they consider a gross misuse of their funds, but despite their protests another $5 million was sent with Cardinal Wuerl brooking no dissent.

Pope Francis: STAY IN ROME

I have decided, because of the Pope's latest Encyclical, to begin a campaign urging him to STAY IN ROME and not come to us US in September.  If he is such a believer in climate change, and that humans are to blame, then I urge him to "walk the walk, don't just talk the talk" and not come to the US and STAY IN ROME.

The Author of The Exorcist Gets a Response from the Vatican

Last September, William Peter Blatty, the author of The Exorcist and an alumnus of Georgetown University, sent a canonical petition to the Vatican, requesting that the Church “require that Georgetown implement Ex Corde Ecclesiae, a papal constitution governing Catholic colleges.”

“Your communications to this dicastery in the matter of Georgetown University … constitute a well-founded complaint,” wrote Archbishop Zani. “Our congregation is taking the issue seriously and is cooperating with the Society of Jesus in this regard.”

Pope Francis Invited to Address Joint Session of Congress

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), as the constitutional officer of Congress, made the formal invitation on behalf of House and Senate leaders, according to House and Senate aides. The House speaker is the officer who formally invites the president each year to give a State of the Union address. All joint sessions of Congress occur in the House Chamber because it is the larger of the two chambers.

Aides to Boehner said he sent the invitation Thursday to officials in Vatican City. If Francis accepts the invitation, he would be the first pontiff to ever address American lawmakers from the U.S. Capitol, according to Boehner aides.

Pop Francis and Dominic on Easter Sunday

I watched one of the Spanish television channels on Easter Sunday, because EWTN was not working on my cable system.

I missed the Mass but did catch Pope Francis, as he made his way around the crowds and would stop and kiss a baby or hold a disabled person. 

Here is the story of Dominc, a child with CP, and his encounter with Pope Francis. 

A Rhode Island couple has revealed how they were moved to tears when Pope Francis kissed their disabled eight-year-old son in front of thousands of people in St. Peter's Square on Easter Sunday.
Paul and Christina Gondreau of Johnston and their five children, including son Dominic who suffers from cerebral palsy, attended Easter Mass at the Vatican.

An usher directed Dominic and his mother to an area designated for handicapped children, said Paul Gondreau, a theology professor at Providence College who is teaching this semester in Rome.
When the pope's vehicle arrived, the usher motioned to the driver to stop and with the help of the mother, held the boy up to Pope Francis, who took the boy in his arms and kissed him.
