On June 3, the Democratic National Committee issued a 2008 Gay Pride Proclamation. DNC Chairman Howard Dean and Representatives Barney Frank (aka "Our Boy Lollipop") and Tammy Baldwin released the proclamation. (Yes, I know it does not come right out and say it, but read the language used.)
So, for all of the my fellow Archdiocese of Washington DC Catholic's who support Obama, not only does Obama get the endorsement of NARAL, now he will in all likelihood support homosexual marriages.
So, will you continue to support him? Will you continue to support someone will go against our faith? Think twice!
Now, what can you do?
Congressman Paul Broun of Georgia has introduced the Marriage Protection Amendment of 2008 (H.J. RES. 89). This amendment would make marriage legal only between a man and a woman.
Write to your Representative and ask them to co-sponsor this bill. If they will not, then at least ask them to vote for it.
PS: I know you will not hear about this from the Archdiocese or from the Catholic Standard. At least you will hear it from me first.

It probably would get more support from the Catholic community if Paul Broun actually honored marriage himself. He's been divorced THREE times.
Let's see... Support the party that works for equality and protection for all US citizens OR support the party that without justification or clearly articulated strategy has caused and continues to cause the deaths of thousands of US citizens (soldiers) in Iraq and elsewhere. I'll go with the party and candidate that supports life over death any day.
Not certain what that has to do with the subject at hand. But, in liberal land, it doesn't matter.

I don't believe the Republican's propagation of war and the thousands of pointless deaths that have resulted are aligned with our life affirming faith either.
Most candidates are either Republican or Democrat. And neither have a particularly consistent track record with policy that safeguards life and compassion.
I will tolerate same-sex marriage long before I will accept policy that results in the death of innocent people.
What about the innocent civilians in Iraq and elsewhere? Or are you going to be so selfish as to say that they do not matter as much as we Americans do. And what about the death of babies due to abortion? I don't mind much about parties, but either party you go with, you are supporting murder; thats just the way it is.
