A Non-Political Event my...

Well, it has been a while since the Catholic Standard wrote something that I really must wonder "What were they thinking?"

In the August 29th edition, Mark Zimmerman wrote a piece entitled:  Catholics need to help make 'the dream' a reality, panelists say.

What bothers me about the article is that Mr. Zimmerman sees this is a non-partisan event.

So, who "sponsored" this non-partisan event: Catholic Democrats, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Pax Christi, USA.

As you can see, all of these organizations are non-partisan in nature and the event was non-partisan, as it included a number of conservative Catholic groups.   The conservative Catholic groups were....  Oh, yes, there were no conservative Catholic groups.

And, who was one of the main panelists?  Tom Perez, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage Secretary of Labor AND a member of Holy Redeemer parish.  Supporter of Obamacare.

And who else spoke, well there was Ralph McCloud, the director of the USCCB Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  You remember Mr. McCloud, the treasurer for a pro-abortion Democrat in Texas.  You remember Mr. McCloud, the person who supposedly has verified that all those receiving money from CCHD are not in violation of Catholic teaching.  Yeah, right.

So, Mr. Zimmerman and the good folks over in Hyattsville...this event was just as bad as the actual anniversary of the March on Washington, in which it became a love fest for the Democrat Party.

How did a pro-abortionist/pro-homosexual marriage member of this administration get to speak at a Catholic venue?  Who approved of it?  Did anyone in Hyattsville know about this?

Is this what we support with our weekly donations?  No wonder why Obama and the Democrat Party are not scared of us, they know that we will invite them to our institutions, hire them to work for us and in general, allow ourselves to have our own Fifth Column.

When will we stop funding Non-Catholic Groups?

Note that Ralph McCloud, who was given an award by this Archdiocese, is once again at the center of making what I call, poor decisions. He seems to take at face value what one of these organizations tell him. Maybe it is time for him to go.

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 10, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A coalition of Catholic organizations is charging that one of the largest recipient of funds from the U.S. Bishops’ domestic anti-poverty program lied to the bishops about its activities to keep the Catholic money flowing.

The Gamaliel Foundation, which received $799,500 in grants last year from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development through 21 local affiliates, was a founding member of a coalition called the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) that advocates for legal recognition of same-sex “families.”

But CCHD guidelines stipulate that grantees may not join coalitions that advocate against Catholic teaching “as part of their organizational purpose or coalition agenda.”

Archdiocese of Washington...Egg on Face?

One year ago today, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington and Catholic Charities USA awarded the first national “Keep the Dream Alive Mass and Award" to Ralph McCloud. Mr. McCloud is the Director of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C.

At the time, I chided the Archdiocese for this move because it was under his watch, that money went to ACORN and other groups opposed to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Well, it seems that Mr. McCloud has been a very busy man. Your see our colleagues over at Restore DC Catholcism pointed out that:

Ralph McCloud, while working in his capacity as CCHD director, worked as campaign treasurer for Texan Wendy Davis. The public record is here. Ms Davis was endorsed by Planned Parenthood. Unfortunately, Davis defeated her pro-life opponent.

Therefore we can conclude that Ralph McCloud worked directly against a candidate who would have helped unborn children and worked for someone who would facilitate their murder.

That campaign itself ran afoul of some ethics guidelines. Planned Parenthood of North Texas was fined several thousand dollars for not reporting just how much money they gave to Davis' campaign.

No wonder why money went to anti-Catholic groups. The director was helping out someone who was pro-abortion.

I wonder if the Catholic Standard will report this? Will they ask for their award back? The should but they won't.

Once again, more egg on the face of the Archdiocese of Washington.
