FOR SHAME "Catholic" Health Assn and Sr. Keehan!

The Catholic alliance that defied the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop a in supporting Barack Obama’s controversial overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system is persisting in its close relationship with the president, giving him a venue to further endorse ObamaCare at its annual meeting. 

Obama will “focus on the future of health care and the Affordable Care Act,” when he delivers the “Future of Healthcare Address” June 9, closing the Catholic Health Association’s (CHA) annual membership meeting and marking the organization’s 100 anniversary. 

It is time to let Sr. Keehan know that this is UNACCEPTANBLE!

Should US Catholics Continue to Donate for Free Healthcare?

The Catholic Standard, in this week's edition, contains an article focusing on those honored during the Rose Mass.  The Rose Mass is the opportunity to pray for and thank, all of those who are involved in the health care field.  After the Rose Mass, a number of those in the medical field were honored for their work at the Spanish Center.

With the passage of the Affordable Healthcare Act (AHA) or Obamacare, and the ability of ANYONE who wants insurance (including illegal aliens, prisoners, etc.), do we still need to maintain FREE (or at minimal cost) health care clinics funded by Catholic donations.  Remember, the USCCB and the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) supported AHA.

So, my question is:  Why are we (Catholics) continuing to support free healthcare provide by the Catholic Church?  Should we take those $$ and use it to fund education or other activities?

The USCCB shares the blame for ObamaCare...

Here is an interesting article.  And yes, I agree with it.

Currently, 4.8M+ Americans have lost or will lose their health insurance (with perhaps 100M+ more to come, if competent economists are to be believed). Thousands of doctors have been dropped by health insurance carriers, are leaving (or likely to leave) the practice of medicine, or forming concierge practices. The doctor shortage is expected to grow, perhaps creating long waiting lines for people who need immediate medical care. Untold numbers of Americans cannot keep their doctors or medical treatments, as the President himself promised on many occasions. There’s certainly a lot of blame to pass around on this one. And the USCCB certainly deserves its share of the blame. Why?

They didn’t heed the warnings of those economists who were predicting these deleterious consequences long before Obamacare was enacted. Worse yet, the bishops may end up having compromised their teaching authority in the process.

Have you noticed...

how quiet the Catholyc supporters of Obamacare are these days?  Do you think that they are starting to realize what a disaster this is, and I don't just mean the website?  

A Non-Political Event my...

Well, it has been a while since the Catholic Standard wrote something that I really must wonder "What were they thinking?"

In the August 29th edition, Mark Zimmerman wrote a piece entitled:  Catholics need to help make 'the dream' a reality, panelists say.

What bothers me about the article is that Mr. Zimmerman sees this is a non-partisan event. 

So, who "sponsored" this non-partisan event: Catholic Democrats, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Pax Christi, USA.   

As you can see, all of these organizations are non-partisan in nature and the event was non-partisan, as it included a number of conservative Catholic groups.   The conservative Catholic groups were....  Oh, yes, there were no conservative Catholic groups.

And, who was one of the main panelists?  Tom Perez, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage Secretary of Labor AND a member of Holy Redeemer parish.  Supporter of Obamacare.

And who else spoke, well there was Ralph McCloud, the director of the USCCB Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  You remember Mr. McCloud, the treasurer for a pro-abortion Democrat in Texas.  You remember Mr. McCloud, the person who supposedly has verified that all those receiving money from CCHD are not in violation of Catholic teaching.  Yeah, right.

So, Mr. Zimmerman and the good folks over in Hyattsville...this event was just as bad as the actual anniversary of the March on Washington, in which it became a love fest for the Democrat Party.

How did a pro-abortionist/pro-homosexual marriage member of this administration get to speak at a Catholic venue?  Who approved of it?  Did anyone in Hyattsville know about this?

Is this what we support with our weekly donations?  No wonder why Obama and the Democrat Party are not scared of us, they know that we will invite them to our institutions, hire them to work for us and in general, allow ourselves to have our own Fifth Column.


 
 

What will the pro-abortion Catholycs and simply pro-abortioinists say...

One of the things the pro-abortionist like to say is that Catholics do not care about the person after they are born.  There are hundreds of actions such as this, although not as large, in which the Church provides for those who cannot help themselves, with no questions asked.

About 300 other adults were turned away over two days because of the overwhelming demand for dental care at the Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy clinic. The clinic, at St. Vincent Pallotti High School, was sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington and the Maryland Office of Oral Health.

Many of those who waited in long lines at the clinic said they couldn’t afford the high price of dental care. Even those who had insurance said rising out-of-pocket costs made it unaffordable for them to have their teeth cleaned, cavities filled or root canals performed.

More than 400 volunteers — about half of them dentists, hygienists, oral surgeons and others in the field — provided more than $750,000 worth of care over the two days, according to Deacon Jim Nalls of Catholic Charities. The work ranged from basic cleanings to root canals and wisdom teeth extractions, Nalls said.

For me, there are questions that I don't have an answer for:

1.  Will any of those who received treatment, donate anything for future clinics.  I am not saying that they need to pay $2500 for the $2500 worth of treatment they received but can they afford to kick-in $200 or $300 to help defray the costs?

2.  How many of these people will attack the church over homosexuality, abortion, etc.

3.  If they are anti-Catholic, will this change their minds about the Church.  (Yes, I know we do this not because we are out to change hearts and minds, but simply because it is the right thing to do.)

4.  This story should be used as a reminder of how the Church is pro-life over and over again.

Letting sick infants/babies die...

Depending upon who you listen to, this is not only taking place now in the US (although on a much smaller scale), but how long before it takes hold in the US under ObamaCare.

 

Sick children are being discharged from NHS hospitals to die at home or in hospices on controversial ‘death pathways’.

 

Until now, end of life regime the Liverpool Care Pathway was thought to have involved only elderly and terminally-ill adults.

 

But the Mail can reveal the practice of withdrawing food and fluid by tube is being used on young patients as well as severely disabled newborn babies.

Dissent Again At Holy Trinity! Is Hyattsville paying attention?

"Bishops may be unhappy about the contraception mandate, but they have only 200 votes in this election," was the view expressed by Father Reese.

After an article in the parish bulletin praising President Obama for Obamacare, and which made no mention of the mandates which go against our faith, Fr. Reese speaks about how the Bishops are just looking for an excuse to oppose Obamacare.  He even suggest that they should be very happy with the mandate and exceptions.

Hyattsville, maybe it is time to strip Fr. Reese of his faculties in the Archdiocese! Maybe it is time to put their foot down about Holy Trinity. 

This sort of stuff has really got to stop. I mean you guys had no problem w/ Fr. Marcel, why are you not doing it with Fr. Reese.

Religious Freedom in the US from the USCCB

Many years ago, Rush Limbaugh (and you don't have to agree with him) stated that one day, the "food police" will legislate what you can and cannot eat and drink.  Many laughed at him, but look at what is happening in NYC and in school lunch rooms around the country.

Some of us, including myself, stated that the same thing would happen when Obama became president.  He and his ilk would allow us to practice our faith -- we can pick it up at the church door and then leave it there, when we left the church building.  Many laughed and scoffed at us. 

It seems that the USCCB, via their blog, have come to state just this: there is an attack on religious freedom. 

One last thought...I wonder how many of those who voted for Obama have their religious freedom now threatened?  And do they really care?

Look in the United States, where freedom of religion is guaranteed by the First Amendment’s free exercise clause, and you see a sophisticated type of assault. It is unbloody, but far-reaching. Ironically, the assaults are not from some guerilla group or despot, but from the government. Foreign nations that look to the U.S. to protect their religious freedom have to shudder.
The assaults vary, but what they have in common is preventing religious bodies from operating according to their moral standards. For example, through the new Affordable Care Act most employers, including many religious ones, are compelled to provide free-of-charge to employees and their families contraception, female sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs, even when they violate church teachings. Government in a miserly gesture says it will grant an exception to entities it defines as religious enough to merit protection of their religious liberty. That means the parish church is religious enough but not the church’s hospitals, schools, colleges, soup kitchens and other social services. You may think the latter obviously are religious works but the government says they are not if you serve needy people other than your co-religionists. Catholicism calls Catholics to help those in need.

Hard to live out the free exercise of your religion with this HHS mandate, the first of its kind in U.S. history. To add insult to injury, for centuries these church services have very effectively helped people who otherwise would have had to rely on government for such care. In fact, one out of six people in the U.S. who need hospital care get it at a Catholic hospital.

A New Jersey judge recently found that a Methodist ministry violated state law when the ministry declined to allow two women to hold a “civil union” ceremony on its private property. Also recently, a civil rights complaint was filed against the Catholic Church in Hawaii by those wanting to use a chapel to hold a same-sex“marriage” ceremony. Is the country better for such in-your-face rejection of a church’s teaching?

BREAKING NEWS: Catholic Church Sues Obama Administration

The archdiocese of New York, headed by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., headed by Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the University of Notre Dame, and 40 other Catholic dioceses and organizations around the country announced on Monday that they are suing the Obama administration for violating their freedom of religion, which is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the Constitution.

The dioceses and organizations, in different combinations, are filing 12 different lawsuits filed in federal courts around the country.

The Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. has established a special website--preservereligiousfreedom.org--to explain it lawsuit and present news and development concerning it.
