FOR SHAME "Catholic" Health Assn and Sr. Keehan!

The Catholic alliance that defied the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop a in supporting Barack Obama’s controversial overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system is persisting in its close relationship with the president, giving him a venue to further endorse ObamaCare at its annual meeting.

Obama will “focus on the future of health care and the Affordable Care Act,” when he delivers the “Future of Healthcare Address” June 9, closing the Catholic Health Association’s (CHA) annual membership meeting and marking the organization’s 100 anniversary.

It is time to let Sr. Keehan know that this is UNACCEPTANBLE!

Supporter of ObamaCare on Archdiocese of Washington Financial Council - Shame on Cardinal Wuerl!

Well, our colleague over at Restore DC Catholicism has done some great work once again.

She has pointed out that Sr. Carol Keehan is on the Finance Council of the Archdiocese of Washington.   Really, the person who was singled out as the largest Catholic supporter of ObamaCare, which the Archdiocese is attempting to fight, is on our Finance Board.

Read the whole thing right here:  http://restore-dc-catholicism.blogspot.com/2013/07/sr-carol-keehan-on-adw-finance-council.html

And I bet we will still continue to honor Sr Carol and CHA in this Archdiocese...

Well, the news came through earlier today that

“The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million in federal tax funds, which we’ve discovered will pay for insurance plans that cover any legal abortion,” said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of right-to-life organizations in all 50 states. ”This is just the first proof of the phoniness of President Obama’s assurances that federal funds would not subsidize abortion — but it will not be the last.”

And how many of you actually believed that he would not fund abortions?

Tom Peters over at American Papist has the CHA promo video.

Sr. Carol and CHA really disgust me. They have sold their beliefs out and they have sold those who work in Catholic hospitals, because they know they won't have to provide abortions. Eventually, Catholic hospitals will be required to perform abortions if they want any sort of federal funds/reimbursements. Don't believe me, it will only be a matter of time.

Sr. Carol and CHA are such phonies and those who invited her to speak at Gonzaga and Cardinal McCarrick should be ashamed of themselves by honoring this water carrier for the Most Merciful, Lord High Barack Obama, Leader of THE REGIME.

Archbishop Wuerl is is about time you stand up and condemn her and the CHA. Show us that you really are our shepherd and not a sheep.

Carrying the water for The Most Merciful of the Regime

Once again, Sr. Carol Keehan is once again carrying the water for The Most Merciful, Lord High Barack Obama of THE REGIME:

The Catholic Health Association (CHA) has applauded President Obama’s recess appointment of Harvard pediatrician Dr. Donald Berwick as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Sr. Carol Keehan, D.C., CHA’s president and chief executive officer, said Berwick is needed to work on the health care mandates created by the recent health care legislation. In a Wednesday CHA press release, she reported that CMS has not had a permanent administrator since 2006.

She called Berwick “well qualified” for the position, describing him as “a visionary with great insight and knowledge of the health care delivery system based on his perspectives as a physician and teacher” who has championed high quality health care for decades.

For more on this, go to the Catholic News Agency.

I guess that Sr. Keehan doesn't care that he views health care as a redistibution of wealth, as well as, rationing of health care.

So what's a couple of abortions when you get health care for all. Right Carol?

Go here for more info on his Marxist views.

She will continue to support these corrupt and radical agendas because she knows that Archbishop Wuerl and many of the other bishops will do NOTHING. She has more to fear (and gain in this world) from the Most Merciful than she has from the bishops.

Cardinal McCarrick's Birthday Celebration...not the whole story

Well, the Catholic Standard, it their print edition, published a lovely story about Cardinal McCarrick's 80th birthday Mass. So first, Happy Birthday.

However, and there is always the "however," there are two things about this story.

First, why was there no mention, at least that I can recall, regarding this Mass. This seems to have been one of those occasions in which you want to celebrate the globe trotting life of the Cardinal.

Second, and more importantly, the Catholic Standard makes no mention of one of the lector's at Mass was Sr. Carol Keehan, president of the Catholic Health Association. (But the WaPo did.) Yep, the same Sr. Keehan who supported the Most Merciful, Lord High Barack Obama of the Regime.

Now, Mr. Zimmerman, can you tell me why this fact was kept out of the story on Cardiinal McCarrick? Was the Archdiocese embarrassed by this?

She was disinvited to speak at the Cardinal Newman Society, allowed to speak at the Gonzaga High School, and now this.

This Archbishop and Archdiocese send very mixed messages. Either you are proud to honor those who are not faithful to the Church or you are not?

Which is it?

She Chose Obama over the Bishops...

Sister Carol Keehan, CEO and President of the Catholic Health Association (CHA) openly acted in favor of President Obama’s health care reform and in opposition to persistent requests from the bishops, said Cardinal Francis George, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), during their spring meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida.

During the bishops' executive session held Tuesday morning to address the fallout of CHA’s support for the health care legislation despite the bishop's opposition, Cardinal George recounted the events that took place prior to President Obama's signing of the health care reform. The prelate then concluded his remarks by criticizing CHA and Sr. Keehan, saying they have created the dangerous precedent of a parallel magisterium to the bishops.

To read more, go to the
Catholic News Agency.

Now, for those of you who supported her visit to Gonzaga, hopefully this will change your mind. It is my hope that she will no longer be allowed to speak in this Archdiocese.

It is time for our Archbishop to use the rod, as Pope Benedict has said, because whatever carrots he is using, simply does not seem to work.

Gonzaga and The Archdiocese

Gonzaga High School, for those who do not know, is one of the high schools in the Archdiocese. Well known for sports, their graduates have jobs in all levels of society and they are very loyal to the school.

As you may or may not know, Gonzaga (which is run by the Society of Jesus aka Jesuits) invited Sr. Carol Keehan to be the graduation commencement speaker on June 6th. (Why does it seem to be the Jesuit's who are doing these sorts of things - Notre Dame, Georgetown, etc.)

Now, I did not comment on this matter before -- not because it was not important -- but because I wanted to see how this would unfold. And it was pretty predictable, from my point of view, on the part of the Archdiocese.

Our colleagues over at Restore DC Catholicism first identified this matter over two weeks ago. In fact, they even went to protest. Right or wrong, they decided to take that action.

The Catholic Standard, in the special insert on high school graduations, did report this. But no further mention was made.

First, the smartest thing would have been for the Gonzaga administration to ask her not to come. Maybe they felt that enough time had passed that the controversy would have died down. Maybe they thought that no one would notice. Maybe they did not care. But they did not and to be quite honest, they should have known better.

However, does not Gonzaga fall under the Catholic School system in this Archdiocese? It is not listed, as far as I can tell, as an "independent" Catholic school like Avalon or Brookewood.

If Gonzaga is part of the Archdiocese Catholic School system, then Archbishop Wuerl and/or the Superintendent should have been made aware of this. Yes, they were probably aware but I guess if you ignore it, it will go away.

If Sr. Keehan was "removed" as the keynote speaker the the John Carroll Society, why was she not removed as the speaker at this? (Probably because Catholic bloggers across the country had picked up on it and it was becoming an embarrassing situation for Archbishop Wuerl.)

Was it because a couple of months have passed by and the Archdiocese thought that the issue would have been forgotten or if you don't publicize the fact, it would be ignored? Or maybe this is part of their effort to help rehabilitate her image? (Note that she is no longer with the Holy Family Hospital Foundation Board...the Knights of Malta made certain of that, just a week or so ago.)

If the school is as pro-life as the supporters say that they are, then why was she invited? There are probably 100 others who could have spoken. Did they not go to the administration and ask that Sr. Keehan not speak?

Cardinal McCarrick's attendance has once again scandalized this Archdiocese. You had him at Sen. Kennedy's funeral and now this! Again, what this does it to give a "stamp of approval" to her actions.

One of the parents in the video was scene asking "Is this really going to change anything?"

The answer is yes and no.

No, it would not stop her from speaking and probably would not change any minds.

Yes, it may once again make the Archdiocese realize that this has caused a scandal and will only make for more bad publicity. It only adds to confusing messages we are getting from the Archbishop.

Let us remember what Archbishop Chaput wrote regarding Sr. Keehan:

"Regrettably, groups like Network and the Catholic Health Association have done a grave disservice to the American Catholic community by undermining the leadership of the nation’s Catholic bishops, sowing confusion among faithful Catholics, and misleading legislators through their support of the Senate bill ."

And

"But the actions of the Catholic Health Association (CHA) in providing a deliberate public counter-message to the bishops were both surprising and profoundly disappointing; and also genuinely damaging. In the crucial final days of debate on health-care legislation, CHA lobbyists worked directly against the efforts of the American bishops in their approach to members of Congress. The bad law we now likely face, we owe in part to the efforts of the Catholic Health Association and similar ‘Catholic" organizations."

Finally, I do not entirely blame the students. Thinking back to my days, I was clueless about many things regarding our faith. For me, graduation day was the start of a whole new stage of my life. A chance for me to really be out on my own (so to speak) and see what life was like outside of my school and community.

If the students and parents were really pro-life, as many claim they are, they could have sent a really strong message by standing up and turning their backs on her during the speech. That would have sent a very pointed message to both her and the school administration. (What would they have done to the students? Give them more demerits? To the parents, send them another fund-raising letter?)

But let's be honest, all of this could have been averted had the Archbishop asked that Sr. Keehan be removed as the speaker.

So, once again, Archbishop Wuerl has let another scandal take place and another chance for confusion and dissension among Catholics.

Nice job Archbishop Wuerl.

Catholic Standard - Part 2

Well, it is time to remind each of you what was not reported in this week's Catholic Standard.

Mr. Richard Szezepanowski, the reporter assigned to this, noted very clearly that Archbishop Wuerl is ending his term as the Chairman of the National Catholic Education Association Board of Directors, and was honored for his "exceptional leadership."

However, he seems to have missed something. Do any of you remember what that is? It was reported on this blog (and others) on March 2, 1010?

Yes, folks, it seems that he left out the fact that the keynote speaker was Garrison Keillor. Most of us know him from Prairie Home Companion and probably think he is one of those quaint humorists. But did you know that he supports same sex marriage and abortions?

Now, how did Mr. Szczepanowski forget to leave it out?

We also have the story on Page 14 about the John Carroll Society. Congratulations to all who were honored.

But again, there was just something missing from the story. Now what was it...

Oh yes, it seems that the keynote speaker that night was to be Sr. Carol Keehan.

Now, you must remember her, she is the president of the Catholic Health Association. Still don't?

She came just days before the vote on the Health Care and supported it? Still don't? Well then, you should remember that she received on of the signature pens that the Most Merciful, Barack Obama of the Regime used to sign the bill into law.

Well, she was to be the keynote speaker but suddenly decided that it probably wasn't the best time to speak at the dinner.

Funny how Mr. Mark Zimmerman neglected to put that in the story.

There seems to be some serious memory loss at the Catholic Standard these days.

CHA and Archbp Wuerl - Free Health Care for All Now!

Recently, Archbishop Wuerl has called for universal health care for all. Sr. Carol Keehan of the Catholic Healtcare Assn. has done so for months. Of course, there are many more who have done so for a while

In concept, this is a wonderful idea. In reality, what they are all doing is relying on the government to create another entitlement to be paid for by people like me. Considering how the government is running Medicare, Medicade, and Social Security, do you really think that they can run it better than it is being run now?

Therefore, I call on Archbishop Wuerl and Sr. Carol Keehan to ask -- no require -- all Catholic hospitals and medical facilities to offer FREE HEALTH CARE FOR ALL NOW.

That's right, it is time (as the saying goes) "to put your money where your mouth is!"

If you really believe that we are in crisis mode, then offer free health care to everyone who walks in to all 600 plus hospitals and medical facilities, regardless of their ability to pay. Offer it to citizens, legal immigrants and illegal immigrants.

Offer free check-ups, free prescription drugs, free eye glasses, free surgeries, free mental illness programs. Offer all of them for free. No questions asked.

Don't worry about the cost because remember, health care is in crisis mode. You should be doing whatever you can to help solve the crisis. In fact, you may want to ask all of the union members (esp. those who work in hospitals) to take a 5% reduction in their pay to cover these costs. I mean, the union bosses tell us they support it, so the too should show that they are really committed to this.

If this issue is that important to you, then do it. Stop the talking. Don't wait for the government to do it. Show that you mean what you say.

I dare you.

CHA President Supports Obama's Health Picks

According to LifeNews.Com:

The president of the Catholic Health Association, Sister Carol Keehan, has issued a response to the pro-life advocates who are upset with her statement praising two pro-abortion picks by incoming president Barack Obama.

Instead of backing down from her position, Sister Keehan goes further by offering a defense of Obama as well as his new pro-abortion Health Secretary Tom Daschle and pro-abortion deputy health care director Jeanne Lambrew.

They are committed to getting access to quality health care for all Americans, including pregnant women and their unborn babies," Keehan adds. "It is my belief that we ... will prevent more abortions by ensuring tangible health care for pregnant women and their unborn babies.

Wow. This sounds like it was taken out of the Catholics for Obama playbook.

Maybe it is because they see this as a chance for socialized medicine?
