Georgetown Visitation Prep School is officially CINO

I knew it was only a matter of time that "Visi" would do this.  Most of the religious order is gone at the school.     When visiting the school about 10 years ago, I did not hear a mention of Catholic teaching except for the term "social justice."  Shame on Visitation.

Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, a Catholic girls’ high school in the nation’s capital, has spurred controversy by announcing it will begin highlighting same-sex “marriages” among other news in the school’s alumnae magazine.

“The Church is clear in its teaching on same-sex marriages. But, it is equally clear in its teaching that we are all children of God, that we each have dignity and are worthy of respect and love,” Sister Mary Berchmans, president emerita of the school, wrote in a letter early May, the Daily Caller reported. “As I have prayed over this contradiction, I keep returning to this choice: we can focus on Church teaching on gay marriage or we can focus on Church teaching on the Gospel commandment of love.

Unfortunately, Sr. Mary seems to forget that you need to call out the sin and not to honor it.  She honors it and is just another reason why her order is shrinking each and every year.

Cardinal Wuerl at Notre Dame. What will he do?

Cardinal Wuerl is scheduled to celebrate Mass at Notre Dame and receive an honorary degree.  This at the same time as VP Joe Biden, the highest ranking elected Catholyc, will receive an honorary degree.

Cardinal Wuerl made an issue of Georgetown University and PP.  Will he do something to show that ND is wrong with honoring pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage Biden?

Probably not.

Gay Birthday Bash and Fr. Rosensteel Council

A few weeks ago, I wrote to you about an article in the Washington comPost about the refusal by a DJ to play at at birthday party.  The bottom line is that it is a birthday party hosted by a gay couple, for another gay may, who was the former "partner" of the ohter.  You can read about it here.

Well, our colleague over at Restore DC Catholicism has once again done yeoman work in tracking down the fact that the party ill be on Saturday evening, August 8th.

It seems that the leadership of the Knights do not have a problem with this, but given the liberal Catholyc leanings of the PGK, it does not surprise this author.

Some are calling for a protest.  Others are calling for you to contact the Council leadership.

My guess is that they had no clue about the party until it was booked, but when they did, it did not seem to bother them.

At this point, I do not think that they will budge but I do think that you should contact the current  DGK.  The Fr. Rosensteel Council website has not been updated, as the listed Deputy Grand Knight (DGK) is now the Grand Knight.

Let them know that what is taking place is not in the best interest of the Knights or of the Church.  And if they cannot get out of this, ask what they are going to do to prevent this in the future.

Be respectful.

The "Gay Marriage" Decision and the Reaction in the Archdiocese of Washington DC

The news of gay marriage came as I was attending to some private business, for which my focus needed to be on.  After that, I did not have much access to the internet (which at times is a blessing).

I read Cardinal Wuerl's statement, and like most of his statements, it is quite disappointing.  I really have not come to expect much from him.  He always looks to avoid any conflict and any sort of controversy.  I am so disappointed, that I will not even link to it.

However, what did catch my attention were the comments on health benefits to those who work for the Archdiocese.  If you did not catch what he was saying, it was:  We will give health benefits to gay "spouses."   So, once again, he has capitulated.

However, Msgr. Pope's column title in the National Catholic Register really sums it up:  Things Are Going to Get Very Tough, Very Quickly for the Church and her Allies.

You can read it here:  http://www.ncregister.com/blog/msgr-pope/things-are-going-to-get-very-tough-very-quickly-for-the-church-and-her-alli

Who Are the Real Haters?

Over the last few weeks, I have followed the public relations battle over the issue of gay marriage.
One of the things that I have noticed, although this is not really new, is the way the pro-gay marriage folks have smeared those of us who support  marriage between one man and one woman.  I call our support for one man/one woman marriage "True Marriage."

Because of our support for True Marriage, we are called "homophobes," "haters," "bigots," and that we oppose civil rights.  (When did gay marriage became a civil right?)  Those are just some of the kinder terms and phrases used

Except for the Westboro Baptist folks and a handful of others, most of those who support True Marriage do not go around saying that "God Hates Fags."  Sorry, as much as you might think we do, we don't.

In fact, if you really know anything about us, you would realize that we believe that the homosexual act is wrong and is a sin.  However, we do not condemn a person just because they have a homosexual orientation.

In fact, our charitable works help all.  Our food pantry collections help those who are in need of food.   Our warm coat drives help those who need to stay warm in winter.  Money raised to cover medical treatments at our medical facilities help those who need care.  There are blood drives for the Red Cross.  We donate diapers, formulas and wipes to new mothers to care for their babies.  Need someone to listen to you, our priests and religious do that on a daily basis.  The list goes on.  These are not one time things, these are everyday works of charity.

And yet, we are condemned by those who do not believe in True Marriage in the vilest of terms.  Not just in language, but in their actions by dressing up and mocking our priests and religious.  Although this does not happen often, there is physical destruction and damage to church buildings and property.  And, mocking some of the most basic tenants of our faith in a way, that you if you did it to a couple of other faiths, you might find yourself at the other end of a gun.

I contend that the real haters are those who condemn the supporters of True Marriage.

You hate us because we stand in the way of what we believe is an immoral act.  An act, not sanctioned by God and his Son, Jesus Christ.  You want to change God into your own image, instead of changing to His.

You may hate us but I will still pray for you and for me, that we change our ways to His way.

(Oh, by the way, if you are against pedophilia, bestiality, selling of heroin, rape, and auto theft, are you a hater?  Because there are some out there, who believe that these actions are acceptable and good.)

*Reminder:  Rev. Phelps' is not a member of the right.  He is a member of the Democrat Party and a support of Al "I created the Internet" Gore.

This is what we are up against, under the guise of "BULLYING"

Folks, with the election (with a certain amount of faud) of Obama and the passing of Gay Marriage in Maryland, we will see attacks on the Church multiply.  If you think it is bad now, it will only get worse, something which I have stated for the last few years but have been told that I am wrong.

____________________

Nov. 23, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A leading pro-family group has released a telling exposé charging that Dan Savage, the founder of the massively popular ‘It Gets Better’ homosexual anti-bullying campaign, is himself the country’s “bully-in-chief.”

Savage writes the syndicated sex column Savage Love, where, in his own words, he “traffics the skeeziest sex practices known to man.”

He is famous for his campaign defaming Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rick Santorum by using a technique known as “Google-bombing” to associate his name on the search engine with a grotesque aspect of sodomy.

In the ‘It Gets Better’ campaign, Savage encouraged people to produce their own short video message to homosexual teens, and won support from celebrities and politicians, including President Obama.

By endorsing the campaign, said Savage, Obama was telling “queer kids” that “there’s something wrong with your parents, there’s something wrong with your preachers, … and f—- those people.”

The short video, by the Family Research Council, compiles examples of Savage’s vicious and obscene attacks on Christians and conservatives, including teens.

Don't Redefine Marriage

The institution of marriage is under attack by many different forces in our culture today. But it is the basic foundation of our society. To further damage it will cause increased cultural erosion. Redefining marriage is not the answer during these hard times. Rededication to marriage and family is.

And keep in mind that we don't need to redefine marriage to give same-sex couples legal rights and benefits. Indeed, in the state of Maryland, same-sex couples already receive benefits, such as hospital visitation, medical and end-of-life decision making, state health benefits, tax breaks and many more.

Advocates of same-sex marriage have attempted to take ownership of some of the key language in this debate. I have heard that this about "love" — but you can love and commit to whomever you want until death do you part; the government is not involved in issues of love. Or, it's about "equality" — but right now, everyone has the same rights under the law, and it says everyone can marry one person from the opposite sex. Or it's been called a "civil rights" issue — but this would be laughable if it wasn't so offensive to the struggles that African-Americans endured in this country. And lastly, "discrimination" — but the government does not discriminate against same-sex couples when promoting the natural definition of marriage; it differentiates certain behaviors. There is a huge difference.

Don't be fooled on Question 6

You keep hearing about all of the so called "protections" that will be provided by those who support Question 6.

Don't believe it.

Look at Canada.

Look at what happens when the definition of marriage is changed to those who oppose it.

Take a look at this video.

And while you are in the voting booth next week, remember to vote AGAINST Question 4.

A Message from Dr. Alveda King on Question 6

Dr. King says:

We did not define marriage and we cannot redefine it. Marriage by definition is a holy union between one man and one woman.

Gay and Lesbian couples already have rights under Maryland law – like priority hospital visitation, sharing property, tax exemptions, adoption and the list goes on. It is possible to be tolerant of gay and lesbian rights without redefining marriage, God’s holy union.

REMEMBER: ALSO VOTE NO ON QUESTION 4 - The Nightmare Act.

Gay Marriage Supports Must be Running Scared...

The Tuesday, Washington comPost reported that Gov. O'Malley will attend a fundraiser in NYC at the James Hotel on Sept. 13th.  Tickets go from $250 to $25K.  In attendance will be Sarah Jessica Parker (put a bag over the face sweetheart), Susan Sarandon (a darling of the left) and a couple of others.

I mean really gays, I mean guys. If you cannot raise enough money in Maryland,  then it shows you are really in bad shape.

However, we can show them -- simply VOTE NO on Question 6 in November.

Oh, and while you are at it, VOTE NO on Question 4.

KKTownsend - Our Values NOT

The gay marriage folks are really pulling out all the stops to force gay marriage onto the citizens of Maryland.  They are sending out emails highlighting different races/religions/vets/women, etc. in order to appeal every possible demographic.
In one email, they highlighted two churchgoers -- but they did not tell you that they were both former ministers in the Unitarian/Universal Church.  The is the same church in which most members do not affirm the divinity of Christ.  (Howard Dean was a member of this congregation.)
We also had some small time producer/actor, a veteran, and a host of others attempting to rally the troops.
Today, I received an email with Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, you know, a Catholyc.  She writes:
I hold my faith close to my heart and know that Catholics believe strongly that every member of our families and communities should enjoy the same opportunities, freedoms and fairness in their lives. We believe that the decision to marry and form a family is a lifetime promise to love and care for one another. And we believe that a good conscience is the highest moral authority.

As a Catholic, I believe the the Civil Marriage Protection Act honors these values, which is why I will proudly vote for it on November 6th.

Many Catholics have been discussing the issue of marriage equality for some time now - around the dinner table, in the community, and at church. They are quickly moving towards the basic fairness that is a cornerstone of our values. As a matter of fact, an ABC News and Wall St. Journal poll from this past March show that 59% of Catholic voters favor the dignity and fairness that marriage equality ensures.

Who is she kidding and who would believe her.  The last time I think we heard from her was the Stone Ridge gig she got, with a group of protesters.

Do me a favor Ms. Kennedy, please crawl back under the rock and stop peddling yourself as a Catholic.

The rock misses you.

The Kennedy name isn't as golden as it was 50 years ago. It was the Kennedy clan that brought about a schism in our church over abortion.  Many of will remember that fact and put it out there whenever we have the right opportunity.

PS: Maryland Catholic Conference, fighting this is what you should be focusing on and not the Nightmare Act.

Also, don't give to the CCHD campaign this weekend.  More money thrown down the drain.

True Marriage Opponents Running Scared?

It seems that the opponents (gay marriage supporters) of True Marriage seem to be running scared.  Those of us who support True Marriage, have submitted over 160,000 signatures...almost three times those required for a vote to be put on the ballot.

Over the last few days, I have noticed a flurry of emails from the supporters of gay marriage on this matter.

  • There is the sympathy one (Anna and I have a loving relationship and our children...).
  • There is the one which charges that the opponents of gay marriage are using racism.
  • There is the one from the LBGT Maryland Legislators.
  • There is the one about making phone calls from the SEIU HQ in Washington DC.
  • The Catholics for Equality no longer describe one of their members as a priest, who lives at Georgetown.

Let's make certain not only to GOTV (get out the vote) to repeal gay marriage in MD but to send a clear messge to those who support this lifestyle--it is unacceptable.

Congratulations! We can defeat Gay Marriage!

Over 113,000 signatures were submitted to the Maryland State Board of Elections.  Even though only half that amount are needed, and we probably could have gotten many, many more, it is enough to signal to those who wish to kill TRUE MARRIAGE that this fight is not over.

Even though the Archdiocese was very lackluster in attempting to obtain signatures to help defeat this, many clear and right thinking individuals stood up and said NO.

I hope it sends a message to O'Malley (that fine Gonzaga graduate - snark, snark), Helen Mizeur (who attends St. Al's -- a Jesuit parish) and others that they cannot ram through this type of legislation.

Let's defeat the Gay Marriage and Dream Act!  Oh, what a sweet victory that would be.

If you signed the petition, Thank You!

Efforts to Defend TRUE Marriage Intensify...

“People are very passionate about this issue,” said Derek McCoy, executive director of the Maryland Marriage Alliance. “We are working hard to win this.”McCoy told CNA on April 3 that the alliance has worked “feverishly” over the past few weeks to develop petition drives and train people to run them.

The alliance is leading a referendum campaign, joining with the Maryland Catholic Conference, the Maryland Family Alliance and other national and local groups of different political and religious backgrounds to defend the dignity of marriage.
