Stuck but Getting Something...

Yesterday, I was unable to get to my parish.

The snowplow had not come down the street (even once) and after 2.5 hours of digging on Saturday, I still could not get the car out. (Yes, I did the walkway during part of that time.)

So, I decided to watch Mass on EWTN at 8am.

All I can say is WOW! Fr. Wade was a great preacher. It was wonderful how he explained the readings of the day. I learned so much.

Now, if only my pastor and his assistant could preach like that, the Church would have a lot more people in attendance.

First, I'm fed up with the corrupt local and federal governments. Here in DC there seems very little concern with plowing - even snow emergency routes. I can't believe metro wasn't moving above ground until Tuesday!!! What is this Haiti?
Meanwhile, the sidewalks in front of private businesses are immaculate. Hurrah to private sector! Shame to socialist government!

On the Mass, I get your point. And I'll note that you yourself intended to go for the Mass itself and not for the preaching. But, while we want good (and perhaps I should clarify good as orthodox and logical) preaching as Catholics people should go to Mass even if they know there will be no homily.
