Will Bishop Knestout Follow Suit?

Springfield, IL Bishop has stated that Senator Durbin is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.

His statement:

I agree completely with His Eminence, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Pro-Life Activities, who called the U.S. Senate’s failure to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act “appalling.”

Fourteen Catholic senators voted against the bill that would have prohibited abortions starting at 20 weeks after fertilization, including Sen. Richard Durbin, whose residence is in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. In April 2004, Sen. Durbin’s pastor, then Msgr. Kevin Vann (now Bishop Kevin Vann of Orange, CA), said that he would be reticent to give Sen. Durbin Holy Communion because his pro-abortion position put him outside of communion or unity with the Church’s teachings on life. My predecessor, now Archbishop George Lucas of Omaha, said that he would support that decision. I have continued that position.

Now, the newly elected Bishop of Richmond (formerly of the Archdocese of Washington) has Tom Kaine (D-VA) in his diocese.  Sen. Kaine was one of the 14 who voted against the Act.

We know that during the 2016 presidential campaign,  Tom Kaine was welcomed with open arms in his parish (even got a standing ovation).  Sen. Kaine was also at the installation of Bishop Knestout.

So the question is: What will Bishop Knestout do?  Will he follow suit?  Will he go and speak with Sen. Kaine (and his pastor)?

Note that I try not to comment upon matters outside of this diocese but Bishop Knestout was not only born and raised here, but was one of our bishops.

Papal Foundation Scandal: What Role Did Cardinal Wuerl Play?

ROME, February 20, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Leaked documents obtained by LifeSiteNews connect the Pope himself to a new Vatican financial scandal and raise serious questions about his global reputation as the “pope for the poor.”

LifeSiteNews has obtained internal documents of the U.S.-based Papal Foundation, a charity with a stellar history of assisting the world’s poor, showing that last summer the Pope personally requested, and obtained in part, a $25 million grant to a corruption-plagued, Church-owned dermatological hospital in Rome accused of money laundering. Records from the financial police indicate the hospital has liabilities over one billion USD – an amount larger than the national debt of some 20 nations.

Despite opposition from the lay “stewards,” the bishops on the board voted in December to send an $8 million payment to the Holy See. In January, the documents reveal, lay members raised alarm about what they consider a gross misuse of their funds, but despite their protests another $5 million was sent with Cardinal Wuerl brooking no dissent.

Does Pope Francis support Radical Doctrinal Change?

CAMBRIDGE, England, February 15, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – A respected Catholic historian and philosopher challenged Cardinal Blase Cupich during a lecture last week about Pope’ Francis so-called “revolution of mercy” that has caused what many are defending as a “paradigm shift” in Catholic practice.

Professor John Rist, after listening to a February 9 lecture at Cambridge University in which Cardinal Cupich praised Pope Francis’ “paradigm shift” in Catholic practice, asked the Cardinal at the end of the lecture why Pope Francis “mercilessly” insults and eliminates his doctrinal opponents.

Prof. Rist is at Catholic University of America.

Systemic Anti-Catholicism at the FBI? I hope not!

The text message exchange between FBI agent Peter Strzok and his mistress FBI attorney Lisa Page is below:
FBI agent Strzok: “F*cking marchers making traffic problems.”
FBI attorney Page: “Yeah, some extremely offensive video screens set up in front of district. I truly hate these people. No support for the woman who actually has to spend the rest of her life rearing this child, but we care about ‘life.’ Assholes.”
FBI agent Strzok: “...Hey, I have an idea! Snow emergency, cancel the permit.”
