Did a Little House Cleaning...

Most probably have not noticed but earlier this week, I did a little cleaning up of the Blog List.  There were a number that no longer exist, so I removed them.   However, a number have been added.

Over the next few weeks, I will highlight them.

Weird Biden Stuff

Although Joe Biden (the highest elected catholic in the US) has said some stupid stuff over the years, I have noticed that he has started to do some weird stuff lately.  So, we not only have STUPID BIDEN QUOTES but now we will have WEIRD BIDGEN STUFF.

From the Daily Mail:

Biden was at the swearing in ceremony of new Defense Secretary Ash Carter, and as Carter delivered his speech, Biden could be seen in the background with his arms on the shoulders of the man's wife, Stephanie, and whispering into her ear

For Shame Cardinal Wuerl, For Shame!

UPDATE:

For those who do not follow these things, the Cardinal that was given the "diss" is Cardinal Burke.

+++++++++++

It seems that Cardinal Wuerl has decided to "diss" another Cardinal in a public forum.

LifeSite News pointed out that Cardinal Wuerl, on his blog, stated the following:

One of the things I have learned though over all of these years since those early naïve days in 1961 is that on closer examination there is a common thread that runs through all of these dissenters. They disagree with the Pope because he does not agree with them and therefore follow their position.

Dissent is perhaps something we will always have, lamentable as it is, but we will also always have Peter and his successor as the rock and touchstone of both our faith and our unity.

As LifeSite News and this blog have pointed out before, it seems that Cardinal Wuerl has done a turn around.

Do you remember when her refused to withhold Communion to pro-abortion politicians, even though it was made clear by St. JP2 and Pope Benedict?

Do you remember what he did to Fr. Marcel?

Do you remember this blog pointing out when he supported pro-abortion politicians?

Once again, the Cardinal should be ashamed of himself and I call upon all Catholics:

DO NOT SUPPORT
THE CARDINAL'S APPEAL

Ask for your contribution back if you have made one!

Fr. Daly and Becoming a Bishop

I will be honest...I am not fan of Fr. Peter Daly's columns -- most of the time.  However, as with most liberal Catholic priests, Fr. Daly goes over the edge.

Fr. Daly is the pastor over at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick, MD.  He writes a column. Many of them are on the parish website and some were published in the Catholic Standard.  For the last few years, his column has appeared in the National Catholic Reporter - a home for liberal/radical catholycs.

In October of 2014, during the love fest for Pope Francis, he wrote a column entitled: Four Easy Steps to Becoming A Bishop.  It was critical of bishops and how they are appointed.  You can read his essay here:  http://ncronline.org/blogs/parish-diary/four-easy-steps-take-become-bishop

I did comment about it over at NCR and so I am posting my comments here.  Enjoy.

Seems to me that Fr. Daly is jealous of those who have been chosen to be bishops. Is he upset that even though he did his seminary studies in Rome, he was "passed over." Or is he resentful that his JD from CUA was not recognized by the powers that be? Or is he resentful that he was not chosen to be the Secretary to Cardinal Hickey. Maybe he feels that he should have been head of the Curia and not Bishop Knestout.
How do you know that "parish priests" would have done any different on the issue of child abuse, had they been in office? You don't.
How many parish priests turned a blind eye to their actively gay brethren?
How many parish priests dip into the collection plate to cover the gambling addition or to help pay for their gay lovers.
Well Fr. Daly, as you know, life is unfair. Some people happen to be in the right place at the right time. Some have better skills at fundraising or dealing with the aged or at making certain things run smoothly.
You have been at your parish now for 20 years, which is unusual in this Archdiocese. Ever wonder why?
So, in order to make you feel better, my dad has some gold cufflinks he no longer needs. I can send them to you if it will sooth your hurt feelings.

MCC Crowning Achievement - None!

The radical leftist National Catholic Reporter (NCF) highlighted the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) as one of the Catholic lobbying groups.  It stated:

The Maryland Catholic Conference has helped the state pass an increase in the minimum wage, protect social services in the budget, defended the rights of immigrants and -- in what executive director Mary Ellen Russell calls the "crowning achievement" of recent years -- pass a repeal of the state death penalty.  As a bonus, just before he left office, Gov. Martin O'Maley commuted the sentences of four people on death row who were not affected by the repeal, and will now face live in prison and not death.

"Catholic Charities works with state agencies," Russell explained, "but the conference helps them deal with the implementation of a variety of policies in education, health insurance and immigration initiatives."

In several states, including Maryland, the state health commissioners did not guarantee that the state health exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act included a policy that did not cover elective abortion, something the act required.  As well, the Maryland conference will need to help implement the changes to the immigration system announced by Obama last year.

The MCC worked with the NAACP -- a pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage group to end the death penalty.  When they allowed me to comment on their Facebook page, I chastised them for it.  Ms. Russell explained to me that they were proud to work with anyone who would end it.  They have since taken down my comments from January 2013 and have banned me from commenting upon their website, as they knew I was right.

They were supporters of Obamacare and continue to support those who have entered the county illegally.

They do not even seem to attempt to stop abortion.  They have given up on it.

However, they have failed since the time of Dick Dowling to get tax credits for businesses which support Catholic Schools.  They have failed repeatedly to obtain tax credits for those who sent their children to Catholic Schools.  Personally, I am beginning to think that they are doing it for show.

They could not stop the rain tax.  They did little to stop gay marriage in the state.

They, like many Catholics, are willing to cozy up to radical leftist politicians, because of contracts.  No wonder why they ignore us, as they know we are more than willing to cozy up to then at the next social justice initative.

ABOLISH THE MCC!

The Cardinal's Appeal - Filling Out a Form

This past Sunday was the Cardinal's Appeal.

Once again, we listened to the audio message from the Cardinal, with the music fade-in and fade-out.   Once again, we were asked to complete the form in the pew.

The pastor said, "Now enter your last name, please print. Blah, blah, blah..."

Tell me, is this what we should be spending time in Church on -- filing out a form?   Each year we go thru this.

We all know why they do it?  Because having people complete it usually increases the giving rate.  However, this year, when I looked around, it did not look like many had filled one out.

But is this really a good use of Mass time?

Did you complete the form?  Take the survey on the right.

Archdiocese Supporting Illegal Aliens - Don't Support the Cardinal's Appeal

Update:

The school is Mother Spalding in Helen, MD.

+++++++++++

I don't know if you or anyone else saw this, but someone brought it to my attention.

It seems that the Archdiocese and Catholic Charities, does not get enough funds from the Federal Government for protect illegal aliens.  They are now spending some of their limited resources, working with MoCo (and pro-abortion politicians) to find and train pro-bono lawyers to help illegals stay in the country.

These were the same politicians who see abortion as a God given right and have tried to shut down pro-life organizations.  Here we have the Archdiocese of Washington in bed with them.

In the mean time, the Archdiocese has allowed another Catholic elementary school to close and yet, sees funding this illegal activity as acceptable.

DON'T FUND THE CARDINAL'S APPEAL OR CATHOLIC CHARITIES!!!

+++++++++++++

From the Gazette:

Catholic Charities has about 13 attorneys working on cases involving unaccompanied minors, said Jacqueline Rishty, senior program manager at the organization’s Immigration Legal Services program.

The organization, however, is looking for volunteers to defend 85 cases of minors who have gone through a screening process and are awaiting an attorney.

She said the majority of unaccompanied minors are seeking Special Immigrant Juveniles Status for children who were abused, abandoned or neglected in their home country, usually by one or both parents.

On Monday, before and after the press conference, Catholic Charities trained interested lawyers about the status.

Fewer children are pursuing asylum or a visa for victims of crimes, Rishty said.

St. Joseph House/Isiah's Promise Fundraiser

A few weeks ago, I attended the St. Joseph House/Issiah's Promise fundraiser.  It was nice to see some old friends and raise funds for two worthy causes.  Thought I would share some photos from my table.
