Cardinal Wuerl: The US Bishop of Bling?

From the ChurchMilitant.com:

Absent from Lamb's public shaming was any mention of Cdl. Donald Wuerl, progressing media darling, who has publicly sparred with Cdl. Burke on the issue of Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians as well as the divorced and civilly remarried.  Wuerl, as ChurchMilitant.com has confirmed, lives in a Washington, D.C. penthouse as part of a complex valued at nearly $43 million.

Knights of Columbus to no longer sponsor Boy Scout Troops & Packs

The following was dated on Nov. 18th and was sent to me by my good friend Melvin.

There are apx. 1100 BSA Scout Units sponsored by Knights of Columbus Councils.

It is from the Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus and is to be carried out asap, but no later than the end of 2016.

He does not believe, and I agree with him, that this really has anything to do with strengthening parish life.

What it really has to do is that BSA does not see the KofC as a religious institution but one just like the Elks Lodge or Moose Lodge.  In other words, it would be forced to accept homosexual leadership.

Scene on the Red Line

A few months ago, I was traveling on the Metro's Red Line.

I noticed a man in a wheelchair get on, and he was talking loudly on his cell phone.  From what I can remember, it seemed he was talking to his wife.

As the train moved along, the man in the wheelchair ended his conversation and looked around.  He said something to a man sitting across from him.  It just so happened that the man (not in the wheelchair) was praying the rosary.  The two got into a brief conversation about the Rosary, which parish they belong to, etc.

After a couple of stops, the conversation ended and the man sitting went back to his Rosary and the man in the wheelchair got on his cellphone and began to chat again.

Catholic Standard Must be Hard Up for Revenue

I meant to post something about this last year, but I did not have the time.  However, I once again noticed that there was an insert for the Central Union Mission.  This insert, an envelope, requested funds so that they could provide Thanksgiving Dinner for the homeless and those who cannot afford a meal.

Now, I have nothing against the Central Union Mission.  I have read about them on their website and really have nothing against what they are attempting to do and their general mission in DC.  Therefore, this posting is not about them but about the Catholic Standard.

I wonder why they would accept the solicitation of funds for a non-Catholic church group, when many of our parishes are asking for canned food and funds for those who are less fortunate at Thanksgiving.  You would think that before the Standard advertises for other groups, the focus would be on Catholic parishes.

The Catholic Standard must really be hurting for revenue, if is accepting advertisements from other church groups.

Cardinal Wuerl & Archdiocese of Washington Caves In and Supports Benefits for Same Sex Marriage

I saw the statement a few weeks ago, and promised I would write about it, but like many things, it slipped my mind.

There is nothing else to make of it but that Cardinal Wuerl and the Archdiocese of Washington will pay for the benefits of "married" homosexual couples.

I mean, I reported a while back about a same sex couple already working in the Diocese offices in Hyattsville and nothing was done.

I don't see any other explanation, do you?

Ask National Amusements to Stop Funding Abortion

I receive this each month, and have decided to share it with you.

Pope Francis, Stay at Home in Rome, and Save the Climate!

++++++++++++++++++++++++

Please consider joining thousands in the Mustard Seed Project by sending a letter each month to a designated corporation asking them to stop supporting Planned Parenthood, the world's largest abortion provider.

You can use the letter below or selected parts of the letter or you can write your own letter. You can save your letter to use again next month; just change the addressee and date. Or, since new facts about PP are provided periodically, you may want to update your letter. It doesn't take long. This month we added the fact that Cecile Richards, PP CEO  annual salary is $590,928

We believe the letter to be 100% accurate and want to maintain that accuracy. Please remember to always keep the tone of your letter respectful and polite. Your efforts have already resulted in 317 corporations ceasing support of PP which has cost them over $42.5 million annually. Thank you for your perseverance.

Sample letter
Mr. Sumner M. Redstone, Chairman & CEO
National Amusements Inc.
846 University Ave.
P.O. Box 1908

Dear Mr. Redstone,

This letter contains information you should be aware of regarding your support of Planned Parenthood. According to their annual reports, PP performs over 327,000 abortions annually and rewards PP facilities that exceed their quotas for killing preborns so there is an enticement to subtly pressure women to abort which is reflected in declining adoption referral statistics.  Also, PP does not do mammograms although they have prominently claimed they do.

There are many other reasons that PP does not need your support. As a "nonprofit" PP has received billions of taxpayer dollars over its history.  Moreover, PP has been audited in several states, including California, New Jersey and New York and has been found to have overbilled for its services.

In 2013, PP settled a billing fraud suit with Texas for 4.3 million dollars. Recently another Texas PP group, PP of North Texas, was caught engaging in fraud. A new federal audit found that PP overbilled taxpayers for services, including “family planning” services for patients who were already sterilized.

The riots in Baltimore have brought a lot of attention to the fact that so many black families are led by single mothers. Many say the problem is a lack of fathers to properly raise their children. They repeat over and over that youngsters not guided and disciplined by fathers turn to violence. But why are so many fathers missing?
PP’s philosophy preached to young people in schools is to have sex at any age whenever you want but be sure to use a condom. PP does not provide any moral guidance or any idea of responsibility, just go have sex.

So with encouragement from PP youngsters will have sex and it is well known that contraceptives fail youngsters at a very high rate. The result of PP’s philosophy is that many unmarried young girls become pregnant and either become ill-equipped single moms or abort their babies to increase PP’s revenue.

Most single parent families experience many social pathologies which some 73% of black families have endured for several generations such as: poverty, school dropouts, sexually transmitted disease, teen pregnancy, criminal behavior, abuse of women and children and abortion and its evil effects.

Many single parents lack the resources to give their children a good education so that many blacks have to take lower paying jobs all their lives. Thus the social discrimination of aborting blacks for profit by Planned Parenthood results in lifelong educational and economic discrimination.

Abortion injures women in many ways, even though these injuries are denied by Planned Parenthood.  For example:
• 31% suffer physical health complications.
• 10% suffer immediate, potentially life-threatening complications.
• 65% are at higher risk of clinical depression following abortion vs. childbirth.
• 65% suffer symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
• Women’s death rates after abortion are 3.5 times higher than after giving birth.
• Suicide rates are six times higher than among women who give birth.
• Abortion increases a woman’s risk of future miscarriages by 60%.
• One abortion increases the risk of breast cancer up to 44%; it is even higher for multiple abortions.

PP of Colorado withdrew its support from and castigated a legislator who supported a bill to make it a crime to kill a pregnant woman’s baby she planned to deliver. The bill failed because of PP’s opposition.

The Live Action organization has done investigative reporting over the last six years using undercover videos of PP supporting child sexual abuse, racism, deceptive counseling, sex-trafficking, false advertising, fraud and sex-selection abortions.  Recently, Live Action videotaped PP employees instructing teen girls in dangerous S&M sex. These videos may be viewed on Live Action’s website. Surely you wouldn’t support these activities or match employee giving to such organizations.

The American public does not support unlimited abortions.  Some poll findings:

84% say abortion should be illegal in the last three months of pregnancy. PP objects to banning these abortions, which are very painful to the baby.
77% support banning sex-selection abortions.  PP lobbies to stop any attempt to ban sex-selection abortions.  A sex-selection abortion is the killing of a baby girl because she is a girl.
78% support notifying a parent of a minor’s abortion. PP actively lobbies to prevent parents from being notified.

PP claims to have the safety and health of women as a primary goal. However, Planned Parenthood vehemently opposed a new Michigan law that requires women to be screened to help prevent coercive abortions, requires aborted babies to be buried or cremated and abortuaries to be licensed and inspected.

License/inspection requirements include: (1) patient welfare should be a number-one priority, (2) The facility should  be kept clean and sanitary, and (3) a qualified physician shall be present and in authority.
No one who considers the safety of women as a priority would oppose this law, but PP did.

Planned Parenthood in San Jose, California hired abortionist Timothy Liveright to do abortions. Previously, he did abortions for PP in Delaware but had to leave there. Delaware medical officials cited Liveright for numerous problems including: over-sedating patients, performing unnecessary suction procedures, failing to properly assess patients, failing to properly administer oxygen, causing at least one perforation during surgery, failing to properly supervise resident physicians during procedures and failing to act with due competence and diligence to avoid unnecessary complications, resulting in patients requiring emergency hospital treatment.

That PP would hire a physician with such a terrible record of malpractice is proof that revenue is their top priority and women’s safety is not on their radar.
I presume that you were unaware of Planned Parenthood’s despicable practices and history.  For moral, ethical and financial reasons I ask you to please refrain from supporting PP.

According to the IRS form 990, the CEO of PP, Cecile Richards' annual salary is $590,928. PP does not need your support.

If you question this information about PP, your independent research will provide verification.

Thank you for reading my letter and for considering not contributing to Planned Parenthood in the future.

Very truly yours,

Gay Birthday Bash and Fr. Rosensteel Council

A few weeks ago, I wrote to you about an article in the Washington comPost about the refusal by a DJ to play at at birthday party.  The bottom line is that it is a birthday party hosted by a gay couple, for another gay may, who was the former "partner" of the ohter.  You can read about it here.

Well, our colleague over at Restore DC Catholicism has once again done yeoman work in tracking down the fact that the party ill be on Saturday evening, August 8th.

It seems that the leadership of the Knights do not have a problem with this, but given the liberal Catholyc leanings of the PGK, it does not surprise this author.

Some are calling for a protest.  Others are calling for you to contact the Council leadership.

My guess is that they had no clue about the party until it was booked, but when they did, it did not seem to bother them.

At this point, I do not think that they will budge but I do think that you should contact the current  DGK.  The Fr. Rosensteel Council website has not been updated, as the listed Deputy Grand Knight (DGK) is now the Grand Knight.

Let them know that what is taking place is not in the best interest of the Knights or of the Church.  And if they cannot get out of this, ask what they are going to do to prevent this in the future.

Be respectful.

The "Gay Marriage" Decision and the Reaction in the Archdiocese of Washington DC

The news of gay marriage came as I was attending to some private business, for which my focus needed to be on.  After that, I did not have much access to the internet (which at times is a blessing).

I read Cardinal Wuerl's statement, and like most of his statements, it is quite disappointing.  I really have not come to expect much from him.  He always looks to avoid any conflict and any sort of controversy.  I am so disappointed, that I will not even link to it.

However, what did catch my attention were the comments on health benefits to those who work for the Archdiocese.  If you did not catch what he was saying, it was:  We will give health benefits to gay "spouses."   So, once again, he has capitulated.

However, Msgr. Pope's column title in the National Catholic Register really sums it up:  Things Are Going to Get Very Tough, Very Quickly for the Church and her Allies.

You can read it here:  http://www.ncregister.com/blog/msgr-pope/things-are-going-to-get-very-tough-very-quickly-for-the-church-and-her-alli

Pope Francis: STAY IN ROME

I have decided, because of the Pope's latest Encyclical, to begin a campaign urging him to STAY IN ROME and not come to us US in September.  If he is such a believer in climate change, and that humans are to blame, then I urge him to "walk the walk, don't just talk the talk" and not come to the US and STAY IN ROME.

If you are like minded, then take up the cause, which I will promote here each and every day!

Quick Thought on Laudato si': Set the Example, Help Save the Planet and Don't Travel to the US in September.

If the Pope is as concerned about environmental damage due to coal, oil, etc., used in transportation, buildings, etc., then I would like to make the following plea to Pope Francis:

Please do not travel to the US in September and stay in Rome.

Do you realize how much oil will be used to transport you, your aides, journalists, etc. from Europe to the US?

Do you realize how much energy and resources will be wasted to set up the various events that you will attend?

Do you realize how much energy and resources will be wasted with millions attempting to see and hear you?

How much energy has been spent working on your visit to date?

Pope Francis, please set the example on how one should help save the plant.  Do not travel to the US in September.  Stay in Rome.

Show the world that you know how to lead the way.

What the Heck is the Pope Thinking?

Why is she one of the presenters?  Someone who goes against Catholic teaching?   I know that God gives us the Pope we deserve, but have we been that bad that we must be punished with this type of thing?  I mean, why not someone from New Ways Ministry?
Makes you almost want to leave the Church.

The Holy See Press Office has announced that Carolyn Woo, president and CEO of Catholic Relief Services, will be among the four presenters at the releases of Pope Francis’s second encyclical, Laudato Si.
The press office previously announced the names of three presenters: Cardinal Peter Turkson, the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace; Orthodox Archbishop John Zizioulas of Pergamon, who will represent the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople; and Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and chairman of the German Advisory Council on Global Change.

Is Fr. Rosensteel Council hosting Gay Birthday Party in August? (Update)

Today's Washington Post has an article entitled:  "Company declines to provide a DJ for a gay man's party."   In this (and I will have more on this in another posting, as I have seen his whining, hypocritical email), talks about a birthday party hosted by a gay couple for another gay man, and how the DJ company said that they would not handle the event.  Note that the birthday boy, was the "former partner" of the of the person mentioned below.

In the article, it stated that the party is to be held at the local Knights of Columbus hall.  It seems that the only KofC hall, in the area where the gay couple lives, is the Fr. Rosensteel Council.

Now, we would not have known any of this, had it not been that Tom Tsakounis (46) of Silver Spring, had not talked about this with The Washington Post.

So:  Is Fr. Rosensteel Council hosting a birthday party for a gay person, sponsored by a gay couple?

They probably did not know about it, when it was booked, but now that they know, what is their answer?

Update - June 16, 2015

As mentioned to you earlier, I do have a copy of the email. (Thank you Melvin for it.) Unfortunately, the Washington comPost article does not mention some key points.  So here are my thoughts...

  • The author's last name is never revealed in the email. So, we only know that he lives in the South Four Corner area of MoCo.
  • The author never mentioned where the party was to be held.
  • The author states that he "appreciates that we live in country that is filled with diversity and I will fight to the death to preserve and defend each person's right to believe what they want to believe and defend their faith in whatever way they deem appropriate."  Now, if this is the case, why are you so upset when they do not want to do a party that would go against their belief system?   Should you not respect them?
  • The author then tells everyone that if you do not support same sex marriage or the LGBTQ community, you might not want to continue reading.  Why?  You made composed this huge email and then tell people who do not support your sexual orientation not to read any further.  Why?
  • He continues by telling everyone that "hate is alive and well in" MoCo.  So, so someone who disagrees with you and whom you promised to fight to the death for, suddenly is hate filled?  That seems pretty hypocritical to me.
  • The author then goes into the story and relates that he received a couple of DJ names and numbers from the South Four Corner listserv.  His sister agreed to help and as the comPost correctly states, contacted the DJ in question.   Now, here is the interesting part:  When the sister learned that as a Christian business that they were "not comfortable with providing service to a party like this.  My sister told him she was no longer interested in using their business."
  • There was nothing in the author's email stating that email that said that the DJ representative was rude, yelling, cursing, making any gay slurs, etc.  And, more importantly, you (or at least your sister) ultimately stated that she did not want to do business with them.  That was your call.

Also, if you know that the KofC is a Catholic organization, why did you book the party there?   Was it to embarrass the KofC - a Catholic organization?  Did you do it because you know their stance on gay marriage and homosexual behavior and thought that it might make for a good laugh with your buddies?

Personally, I believe that Tom Tsakounis is:
  • playing the "victim" and loving all of the attention that it gets him
  • a hypocrite
  • a BULLY.

FOR SHAME "Catholic" Health Assn and Sr. Keehan!

The Catholic alliance that defied the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop a in supporting Barack Obama’s controversial overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system is persisting in its close relationship with the president, giving him a venue to further endorse ObamaCare at its annual meeting.

Obama will “focus on the future of health care and the Affordable Care Act,” when he delivers the “Future of Healthcare Address” June 9, closing the Catholic Health Association’s (CHA) annual membership meeting and marking the organization’s 100 anniversary.

It is time to let Sr. Keehan know that this is UNACCEPTANBLE!

Design for the Papal Altar Revealed Today!

The first-place design features arches that mimic the architecture of the Romanesque-Byzantine style Basilica. The chair designed for the Pope features a simple high arch “designed to bring focus not on itself, but on the Vicar of Christ himself who will preach from it,” the team stated in their concept. Members of the winning design team include architecture students Ariadne Cerritelli (Bethesda, Md.), Matthew Hoffman (Pittsburgh), and Joseph Taylor (Eldersburg, Md.)

The World Bank and Caritas International

While I was reading an article, which was linked from Fr. Z's Blog, I came across this:

Delegates dismissed the proposals, and there seemed to be a push to get back to a less “Catholic”, more indiscriminate gathering. During a break in the assembly, Cardinal Rodriguez told that the World Bank had asked to be welcomed within the Caritas Internationalis Organization. Kim, the World Bank president, is a doctor who is facing many problems within the organization, and is exploiting his relation with the Holy See (better, with the popular Pope Francis) to gain credibility.

As The World Bank is located in DC, I thought that my readers might find this interesting.  Who knows, some of you may even work there.

Pope Francis blesses image of children killed in Maryland fire

This one made the news about a week or two ago.    Many of us probably remember the story about the terrible fire and the lives it took, esp. the children.

+++++++++++++++++

After reading a letter while visiting Rome’s North American Seminary detailing the death of two young girls in a house fire, Pope Francis blessed their picture and a small statue to be given to their parents.

“The Holy Father read the story about what happened and he was very moved by it. He prayed for the family and for the girls, and in fact he even put his hand on their picture as a sign of his affection for them,” Father Aaron Qureshi told CNA  May 2.

Fr. Qureshi was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Washington D.C. after studying at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He is the one who wrote the letter at the request of a friend who is close to the family of the deceased.

Passing Away of Msgr. Hurley

I have been remiss in not posting over the last month or so.  Work, my parish organization, and other things have kept me from posting.  And there have been many things happening.

Therefore, let me start with the passing away of Msgr. Leonard Hurley.

May eternal rest be granted unto him, O Lord.   And let perpetual light shine upon him.  May his soul, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Monsignor Leonard F. Hurley, the Catholic priest who conducted President John F. Kennedy’s Requiem Mass narration for a worldwide television and radio audience in 1963, died April 27 at a health-care center in Washington. He was 84.
The death was announced by the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. No cause was given.
Locally, Msgr. Hurley was best known as the founding pastor of Germantown’s Mother Seton Parish, where he served from 1974 until 1987. A boulevard in Germantown, Md., was named in his honor, to recognize his community work.

Tell Angie's List that They Should Not Discriminate Against People of Faith...

Send a Note to Angie's List President re Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Debra.decourcy@angieslist.com;

Dear Mr. Oesterle:

I am extremely disappointed to learn that Angie's List has chosen to practice religious discrimination. Shouldn't every American be free to work and live according to their faith without fear of punishment by the government?

Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act is exactly the same law that is already in place and working just fine in 19 other states.

And, its language is identical in all fundamental respects to the 1993 federal RFRA signed into law by President Bill Clinton after it passed the House unanimously and the Senate 97-3.

Because your company opposes laws that protect religious liberty, I will not be using Angie's List in the future.

Regards.

Killing in Style...

Today's Washington comPost highlights a new abortion clinic -- one in which you can kill your child in style..or at least feel better about yourself after it.

It seems that the CaraFem, located in Friendship Heights, will greet you and offer you some tea and comfortable robes.  All the while offering you an abortion pill.  And they are proud of it.

Can't kill a seal, a whale or even a darter snail but a human life.  No problemo.

Isn't that special.

Affirming Children's Rights To Their Mothers And Fathers

Our colleague over at RESTORE DC CATHOLICISM posted an interesting talk taking place at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bethesda, MD.

The talk, entitled "Affirming Children's Rights to Their Mothers and Fathers" deals with true marriage (a term which I have used, instead of traditional marriage for a while) and that all children need a mother and a father.

Stupid Biden Quote of the Week.

Looks like the highest elected catholyic official in the US, has once again put foot in mouth with his comment about anyone wearing Orange is not welcome, as well as, a couple of other items.

Geez, who elected this guy?  I know I did not.

Lesbianism is a Religion?

Normally, I do not comment on other faiths.  That is not what this blog is about.  However, something caught my attention in The Washington Post Magazine, this week.

Each week, the comPost Magazine has a one pager entitled: Just Asking.  For those of you who do not know it, it is a question and answer with someone they believe is notable.  The first paragraph is a short intro on the person and then it goes into the Q & A.  (That is "Questions and Answers" for those of you in the People's Republic of Takoma Park.)

In this case, the first sentence reads:  "(Name) is a lesbian minister.."

Now, normally, you would say "(Name) is a Baptist,"  "(Name) is a Unitarian," or "(Name) is interdenominational."   You do not say "(Name) is straight" or "(Name) is LBQTUVWXYZ."

Really, once again, the comPost is pushing a radical agenda and trying to normalize something that is not.

Dog Tag Bakery

I will have to check this out when I get down there...

Readjusting to the American workforce after active military service - particularly when dealing with injuries - can be notoriously challenging, which is why two enterprising philanthropists have put their heads together to form an unlikely solution.

Dog Tag Bakery - which trains and employs wounded veterans, not just in baking but in actually running the business - was launched last year in Georgetown, Washington D.C., by Father Richard Curry, a professor of Catholic Studies at Georgetown University, and entrepreneur Connie Milstein.

It's a two-floor operation; upstairs a study center where ex-members of the U.S. ex-military (and their spouses or caregivers) are taught classes in business, finance and marketing, and downstairs a storefront bakery, where these skills are put into practice running the operation for local customers.

Did a Little House Cleaning...

Most probably have not noticed but earlier this week, I did a little cleaning up of the Blog List.  There were a number that no longer exist, so I removed them.   However, a number have been added.

Over the next few weeks, I will highlight them.

Weird Biden Stuff

Although Joe Biden (the highest elected catholic in the US) has said some stupid stuff over the years, I have noticed that he has started to do some weird stuff lately.  So, we not only have STUPID BIDEN QUOTES but now we will have WEIRD BIDGEN STUFF.

From the Daily Mail:

Biden was at the swearing in ceremony of new Defense Secretary Ash Carter, and as Carter delivered his speech, Biden could be seen in the background with his arms on the shoulders of the man's wife, Stephanie, and whispering into her ear

For Shame Cardinal Wuerl, For Shame!

UPDATE:

For those who do not follow these things, the Cardinal that was given the "diss" is Cardinal Burke.

+++++++++++

It seems that Cardinal Wuerl has decided to "diss" another Cardinal in a public forum.

LifeSite News pointed out that Cardinal Wuerl, on his blog, stated the following:

One of the things I have learned though over all of these years since those early naïve days in 1961 is that on closer examination there is a common thread that runs through all of these dissenters. They disagree with the Pope because he does not agree with them and therefore follow their position.

Dissent is perhaps something we will always have, lamentable as it is, but we will also always have Peter and his successor as the rock and touchstone of both our faith and our unity.

See more at: http://cardinalsblog.adw.org/2015/02/pope-touchstone-faith-unity/#sthash.Z20GAN1K.dpuf

As LifeSite News and this blog have pointed out before, it seems that Cardinal Wuerl has done a turn around.

Do you remember when her refused to withhold Communion to pro-abortion politicians, even though it was made clear by St. JP2 and Pope Benedict?

Do you remember what he did to Fr. Marcel?

Do you remember this blog pointing out when he supported pro-abortion politicians?

Once again, the Cardinal should be ashamed of himself and I call upon all Catholics:

DO NOT SUPPORT
THE CARDINAL'S APPEAL

Ask for your contribution back if you have made one!

Fr. Daly and Becoming a Bishop

I will be honest...I am not fan of Fr. Peter Daly's columns -- most of the time.  However, as with most liberal Catholic priests, Fr. Daly goes over the edge.

Fr. Daly is the pastor over at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick, MD.  He writes a column. Many of them are on the parish website and some were published in the Catholic Standard.  For the last few years, his column has appeared in the National Catholic Reporter - a home for liberal/radical catholycs.

In October of 2014, during the love fest for Pope Francis, he wrote a column entitled: Four Easy Steps to Becoming A Bishop.  It was critical of bishops and how they are appointed.  You can read his essay here:  http://ncronline.org/blogs/parish-diary/four-easy-steps-take-become-bishop

I did comment about it over at NCR and so I am posting my comments here.  Enjoy.

Seems to me that Fr. Daly is jealous of those who have been chosen to be bishops. Is he upset that even though he did his seminary studies in Rome, he was "passed over." Or is he resentful that his JD from CUA was not recognized by the powers that be? Or is he resentful that he was not chosen to be the Secretary to Cardinal Hickey. Maybe he feels that he should have been head of the Curia and not Bishop Knestout.
How do you know that "parish priests" would have done any different on the issue of child abuse, had they been in office? You don't.
How many parish priests turned a blind eye to their actively gay brethren?
How many parish priests dip into the collection plate to cover the gambling addition or to help pay for their gay lovers.
Well Fr. Daly, as you know, life is unfair. Some people happen to be in the right place at the right time. Some have better skills at fundraising or dealing with the aged or at making certain things run smoothly.
You have been at your parish now for 20 years, which is unusual in this Archdiocese. Ever wonder why?
So, in order to make you feel better, my dad has some gold cufflinks he no longer needs. I can send them to you if it will sooth your hurt feelings.

MCC Crowning Achievement - None!

The radical leftist National Catholic Reporter (NCF) highlighted the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) as one of the Catholic lobbying groups.  It stated:

The Maryland Catholic Conference has helped the state pass an increase in the minimum wage, protect social services in the budget, defended the rights of immigrants and -- in what executive director Mary Ellen Russell calls the "crowning achievement" of recent years -- pass a repeal of the state death penalty.  As a bonus, just before he left office, Gov. Martin O'Maley commuted the sentences of four people on death row who were not affected by the repeal, and will now face live in prison and not death.

"Catholic Charities works with state agencies," Russell explained, "but the conference helps them deal with the implementation of a variety of policies in education, health insurance and immigration initiatives."

In several states, including Maryland, the state health commissioners did not guarantee that the state health exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act included a policy that did not cover elective abortion, something the act required.  As well, the Maryland conference will need to help implement the changes to the immigration system announced by Obama last year.

The MCC worked with the NAACP -- a pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage group to end the death penalty.  When they allowed me to comment on their Facebook page, I chastised them for it.  Ms. Russell explained to me that they were proud to work with anyone who would end it.  They have since taken down my comments from January 2013 and have banned me from commenting upon their website, as they knew I was right.

They were supporters of Obamacare and continue to support those who have entered the county illegally.

They do not even seem to attempt to stop abortion.  They have given up on it.

However, they have failed since the time of Dick Dowling to get tax credits for businesses which support Catholic Schools.  They have failed repeatedly to obtain tax credits for those who sent their children to Catholic Schools.  Personally, I am beginning to think that they are doing it for show.

They could not stop the rain tax.  They did little to stop gay marriage in the state.

They, like many Catholics, are willing to cozy up to radical leftist politicians, because of contracts.  No wonder why they ignore us, as they know we are more than willing to cozy up to then at the next social justice initative.

ABOLISH THE MCC!
