Catholics Denied Mass...Why Is Cardinal Wuerl Silent?

Father Ray Leonard serves at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia but because of the government shutdown, he wasn’t allowed to go to celebrate Mass this past weekend.

He is contracted by the Defense Department to meet the spiritual needs of Catholics, but not now. The chapel doors were locked and the sign said, “Shutdown: No Catholic service till further notice.”

Father Leonard said the following:

“This is our church, Catholics have an expectation and obligation to attend Mass and we were told, ‘No you can’t go to church this week…“ My parishioners were upset. They were angry and dismayed. They couldn’t believe that in America they’d be denied access to Mass by the government.”

And here

Why are out Bishops not speaking out?  A Catholic denied his First Amendment rights and we remain silent.

It is time for the Bishops to do the work to which God has called each of them. I have heard Cardinal Dolan slam dunk the GOP--outrageous and absurd! Yet, he dines beside the most evil and irresponsible servant of the country, our current President, and has on more than one occasion shown support for the Democratic politicians, while they make mincemeat of the Truth, our Faith, and the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church.

Our Church needs Truth be told. Jesus, our Lord and Savior, was not one who lobbied with the locals of His day. He taught Truth, He healed souls and bodies, and He was Just.

Our President is the most fiscally irresponsible man ever to hold office. He is morally bankrupt. When will our Bishops stand for the sacraments that are being with evil intent withheld from our military at the risk of imprisonment.

The federal government shutdown is so because of the tyrannical actions of President Obama. Please, face this evil. Our Cardinals and Bishops should be the first to walk on to the military bases, risk Obama's threat to arrest you, and provide all sacraments requested by the faithful Catholics who serve.

Good question! Thank you for asking it.

Who knew we had priests who were civilian government employees? It is a shame that priests demand to have a government job for performing their ministry.
