Dorothy's Wizard of OZ dress and CUA

WASHINGTON (CNS) — Dorothy’s refrain, “There’s no place like home,” in “The Wizard of Oz” also could be echoed by her blue and white gingham dress from the 1939 movie.

The dress, which turned up last summer at The Catholic University of America after it was missing for nearly 40 years, is about to get a new home as the university plans to sell it and use the proceeds to help establish the school’s new film acting program.

But now there is a wrinkle in this plan with a lawsuit trying to stop the sale.

For the rest, please go to CNS.

CUA Celebrates Painting of George Floyd as Jesus Christ

Here is the story, reported by Mary Margaret Olohan

Paintings depicting George Floyd as Jesus Christ hang in both The Catholic University of America’s campus ministry office and its law school, The Daily Signal has learned.

Catholic University appeared to shrug off responsibility for the painting Monday, telling The Daily Signal that artist Kelly Latimore’s painting “Mama” depicts “the Virgin Mary supporting the body of the dead Christ”—although the artist has indicated repeatedly that his painting depicts both Floyd and Jesus.

“You can identify Jesus by the marks in the halo,” said Karna Lozoya, vice president for university communications. Lozoya would not further address the matter with The Daily Signal.

“The icon has no place at The Catholic University of America; it is blasphemous and an offense to the Catholic faith, but it is not surprising at all that it was put there,” a junior at Catholic University told The Daily Signal in an email. “It is just another symptom of the liberalization and secularization of our campus.”

“There are many students, faculty, and staff who are concerned about this, but there is nothing we can do,” added the student, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of reprisal from the university administration. “And if we sound the alarm, we will be labeled racists.”

President Trump, +Gregory and the Politics of Personal Destruction

This gets right to the heart of the matter, better than I could have said it...

The problem that I see with Archbishop Gregory's message lies in the fact that our bishops have (as usual) arrived late on the scene. The "politics of personal destruction" had become a regular feature of our nation's political discourse long before Donald Trump — and his vociferous critics — arrived on the scene.

Wanda, Randy Andy and the Archbishop

Well, once again, George Neumayr continues to add a little more to the story of Msgr. Rossi (aka Wanda), Fr. Hvozdovic (aka Randy Andy), and Archbishop Wilton Gregory (aka The Enabler and The Cover Up Artist -- my names, not his).

One of the things that Mr. Neumayr talks about is that Archbishop Gregory will do nothing about Msgr. Rossi, if he can get away with it.  It is sad that I was so right about the Archbishop.

Maybe you should ask your pastor about Msgr. Rossi.  I bet he will claim he knows nothing about him or claim that he really is not part of this Archdiocese, therefore, nothing can be done about him.

You can read all about at the American Spectator.

Remember, the only way to get the message to the folks in Hyattsville, is to withhold funds from them.

BTW, my sources tell me that folks in Hyattsville are in a bit of a panic, due to the HUGE drop in funds for the Appeal.  They are not certain how they will pay for everything at this time.

Hey, maybe if you clean things up, you may see the amount of funds increase.  Ever thought of that?  Nah, that is too easy.

Call Upon CUA President Garvey to Investigate Msgr. Rossi

A reader asked me to share this petition.  Normally, I do not share such items, but in this case, I think it is one that needs to be shared.

+++++++++++++++++++

Whereas Monsignor Walter Rossi has been credibly accused of sexual harassment by a former Catholic University of America (CUA) student, we strongly urge President John H. Garvey to open an investigation to determine the veracity of these allegations. In the meantime, we call on Monsignor Rossi to step down from the CUA Board of Trustees while the result of the investigation is pending.

CUA to launch business school, teaching faith and morals...

The Washington, D.C., university will announce the launch of its new School of Business and Economics on Tuesday, infusing an education in strategy, accounting and marketing with instruction in morals, character and religious values.

Created in response to rising demand for business education, the program’s virtues-based approach hinges on the idea that business is meant to foment social good and not just financial success; that’s a departure from a traditional business education, which focuses mainly on how to maximize profits.

“Business is supposed to be a service to society,” says Andrew Abela, chair of the business and economics program, now housed in Catholic’s School of Arts and Sciences and comprised mostly of undergraduate students.

The school is focusing more on the Catholic concept of natural law in its undergraduate ethics course. And starting this spring, its introductory business class will address the social impact of commerce.

CUA can have Same-Sex Dorms!

Catholic University is allowed to segregate students’ living quarters into same-sex dormitories, according to a ruling handed down Tuesday.

The District's Office of Human Rights said that same-sex dorms do not constitute discrimination or disparate treatment of either sex.

Planned Parenthood Clinic on 16th St.

Many years ago, I was a regular every Saturday morning praying the Rosary outside of this clinic. There were usually about a dozen or so. Sometimes, we would be joined by a priest from St. Matthew's, sometimes students would join us.

When I think back to those days, the "clinic escorts" use to call us names, yell at us, etc. I remember one gay man walking with his friend and saying in a very loud voice: "You know, today I think I should get abortion."

Periodically, the police would come by, due to a call from the clinic. They would look, but didn't do much other than to flirt with the escorts.

For many years, the pro-life community has been allowed to pray, counsel and have a peaceful witness on the public property surrounding the Planned Parenthood Clinic in Washington, D.C.

Several weeks ago Planned Parenthood put up a fence around that public property, and police are now threatening to arrest anyone who stands inside that fence.

To read more, go to LifeSite News.

Here is an update to the story, including a little known fact about who owns what around the clinic.

A SMALL VICTORY -- MAYBE! CCHD to Stop Funding ACORN!

Well, it seems that the Bishops have decided to no longer fund ACORN. However, Bishop Morin did not state: We will never again fund ACORN.

Now, this should not be the end of the boycott of CCHD. It needs to be entirely reformed and donations given to CATHOLIC groups that are FAITHFUL to the Magesterium of the Catholic Church.

It is my hope that we (the blogging community) have had some impact upon this decision.

In addition, Aufer a Nobis has a posting about another Catholic institution that is partially funded by the Sunday Second Collection: Catholic University of America.

It seems that CUA believes that promoting Terry McAuliffe and Gov. Martin O'Malley is a good thing.

I guess this is another second collection that I will pass on.
