NO to CCHD Collection This Weekend

This weekend will be the collection for CCHD/Communications.

As in the past, I urge you not to give.  Although things have gotten better on whom they donate to, many of us do not see the light at the end of the tunnel yet.

So, don't give.  And if you do decide to drop an envelope in, let them know that it is empty due to the issues w/ CCHD.

A Non-Political Event my...

Well, it has been a while since the Catholic Standard wrote something that I really must wonder "What were they thinking?"

In the August 29th edition, Mark Zimmerman wrote a piece entitled:  Catholics need to help make 'the dream' a reality, panelists say.

What bothers me about the article is that Mr. Zimmerman sees this is a non-partisan event.

So, who "sponsored" this non-partisan event: Catholic Democrats, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Pax Christi, USA.

As you can see, all of these organizations are non-partisan in nature and the event was non-partisan, as it included a number of conservative Catholic groups.   The conservative Catholic groups were....  Oh, yes, there were no conservative Catholic groups.

And, who was one of the main panelists?  Tom Perez, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage Secretary of Labor AND a member of Holy Redeemer parish.  Supporter of Obamacare.

And who else spoke, well there was Ralph McCloud, the director of the USCCB Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  You remember Mr. McCloud, the treasurer for a pro-abortion Democrat in Texas.  You remember Mr. McCloud, the person who supposedly has verified that all those receiving money from CCHD are not in violation of Catholic teaching.  Yeah, right.

So, Mr. Zimmerman and the good folks over in Hyattsville...this event was just as bad as the actual anniversary of the March on Washington, in which it became a love fest for the Democrat Party.

How did a pro-abortionist/pro-homosexual marriage member of this administration get to speak at a Catholic venue?  Who approved of it?  Did anyone in Hyattsville know about this?

Is this what we support with our weekly donations?  No wonder why Obama and the Democrat Party are not scared of us, they know that we will invite them to our institutions, hire them to work for us and in general, allow ourselves to have our own Fifth Column.

Another Reason why CCHD should not be funded this Sunday!

In March of 2013, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) announced that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), which is the domestic anti-poverty agency of the U.S. bishops, approved special grants totaling nearly $1 million “to mobilize Catholics on behalf of comprehensive immigration reform and to prepare Catholic institutions for the prospects of reform legislation.”

According to the USCCB website, Bishop Jaime Soto of Sacramento, the chairman of the CCHD subcommittee, announced the grants after the bishops determined that “swift action by the Catholic community was essential in advancing the recently emerging prospects for immigration reform. CCHD has taken significant steps to contribute in a swift and meaningful way to this most important national conversation.”

NO to CCHD on Aug. 10 and 11

Kudos to our colleague over at Restore DC Catholicism.  I have "copied" this from her website and I encourage all of you NOT to donate.

Discussing the key points problems does not seem to work.  Shame does not work.  Therefore, withholding money is the last resort.

++++++++++++++++++

In the Archdiocese of Washington, the second collection for the Masses of Aug 10-11 will be for something called "Communications and Human Development". It's really for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In recent years, the CCHD has garnered some very bad publicity - and yes, the CCHD has earned its terrible reputation in spades. I suppose the collectors think that by obfuscating the name of the collection that they can somehow bypass the bad press and fool Catholics into donating.

We are in the process of spreading the word.  P
lease visit the sites of www.reformCCHDnow.com and www.CatholicMediaCoalition.org.

Now it's time to take action! What to do?

  1. Spread word of the existence of ReformCCHDNow.com, CatholicMediaCoalition.org and this blog so that others can avail themselves of the research contanined therein.
  2. Use social media to spread word of the boycott. It would be helpful to use the hashtag #no2cchd in your Facebook and/or Twitter messages.
  3. Questions/comments/suggestions? Please post via the comments.
  4. Above all, pray that the Lord have mercy upon those who exploit His Church for anti-God causes and that evil be expunged from this Bride of Christ.

USCCB still does not get it, in relation to CCHD

Once again, circle the wagons and support those who are undercutting us.

Cardinal Wuerl, when are you going to stop this waste of money.

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 2, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In an internal memo sent to diocesan Catholic Campaign for Human Development directors, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has claimed that the “near totality” of a critical report about its grantees is “based on false suppositions” and “tenuous connections.”

At the same time, the U.S. Bishops domestic anti-poverty agency has amended its website to accuse the report’s researchers – namely those with the pro-life group American Life League - of having a “consistent track record of misreporting.” The pro-life group has responded that CCHD has offered no evidence of the misreporting.

When will we stop funding Non-Catholic Groups?

Note that Ralph McCloud, who was given an award by this Archdiocese, is once again at the center of making what I call, poor decisions. He seems to take at face value what one of these organizations tell him. Maybe it is time for him to go.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 10, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A coalition of Catholic organizations is charging that one of the largest recipient of funds from the U.S. Bishops’ domestic anti-poverty program lied to the bishops about its activities to keep the Catholic money flowing.

The Gamaliel Foundation, which received $799,500 in grants last year from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development through 21 local affiliates, was a founding member of a coalition called the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) that advocates for legal recognition of same-sex “families.”

But CCHD guidelines stipulate that grantees may not join coalitions that advocate against Catholic teaching “as part of their organizational purpose or coalition agenda.”

Catholic charities must always act in accordance with Catholic teaching

CCHD please take note!

+++++++++++++++++

ROME, November 30, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a surprise move, Pope Benedict XVI this morning issued a formal legislative document instructing Catholic charitable organisations that they must act in complete compliance with Catholic teaching. The Vatican rumour mill failed to predict the appearance today of the pope’s Motu Proprio, a special letter written and promulgated on Pope Benedict’s personal initiative, that lays out specific legislation on how Catholic charities must be governed.

Benedict issued the Motu Proprio, “De Caritate Ministranda,” on the Church’s charitable activities after strongly hinting in recent years at his deep concern at the secularising and outright anti-Catholic trends growing within officially recognised, and lay-funded, Catholic charitable agencies.

The document, using the formal legal language reserved for the Sovereign Pontiff when creating binding legislation for the whole Church, specifies that Catholic charitable organizations “should not limit themselves merely to collecting and distributing funds,” but exist to further Catholic religious objectives by exercising “a valuable educational function within the Christian community”.

When will we ever learn...

When will we ever learn.  Instead of hiring those who are true to the faith, we keep subverting ourselves.  We go rid of the guy responsible for the Social Justice mess in the USCCB and now we get this.

++++++++++++++++

An organization of Catholic donors has chosen Alexia K. Kelley, an Obama policy advisor with connections to abortion-supporting politicians and a controversial advocacy group, as its new president and CEO.  She is now the President of the Foundations and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities (FADICA

Kelley, who holds a master’s degree in theological studies from Harvard Divinity School, had previously worked for several years at the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, an anti-poverty initiative of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

She later co-founded and served as the executive director of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, a social justice advocacy organization.

The group - which has since closed its office and shifted its presence to the internet - was criticized by numerous bishops for causing confusion about the priority of moral issues by downplaying the importance of fundamental concerns like abortion, while giving heavy weight to issues such as the environment.
Kelly was a religious advisor for the 2004 presidential campaign of Catholic senator John Kerry, whose support for abortion raised controversy.
She also advocated heavily for the confirmation of pro-abortion Catholic Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

CCHD Collection This Weekend - Don't Give

About two years ago, the Archdiocese revamped some of their 2nd collections.  One of those was the CCHD.

Now, we all know that CCHD has been used to fund groups which have supported issues, which are opposed to Catholic teachings, such as abortion, contraception, gay marriage, etc.  We have documented this fact on this blog and so have others.

In fact, a CCHD grant helped to fund some of the Most Merciful Barack Obama's activities, when he was a "community organizer."  (I wish I could get a gig like that -- walk around, talk a lot, don't have to show results...oh, there is a position like that -- Democrat politician.)

Even though there seems to be strides, there is still abuse of this money.

The Archdiocese of Washington has decided to merge this collection into the Communications Collection -- you know, get the message out.

I say that they are just trying to ensure that they can obtain money for this failed program, via hiding it with another collection.

Remember the stellar communication job they did with Fr. Marcel.

So, as much as I think that get our message out is important, I say: DON'T GIVE!

CCHD Corruption

For the last few years, a number of bloggers have raised the cry over the fact that money collect by Catholics, have been used to support organizations that go against Catholic teaching. This was slowly and silently organized by the radical left Catholics -- who like to call themselves progressives, to hide the fact of their pro-abortion, pro-homosexual support.

Many of us want CCHD completely shut down and reorganized only as a last resort.

This year, the Archdiocese of Washington very quietly combined the communication campaign with the CCHD campaign. The Archdiocese was probably too cowardly to end the collection, so they figured they would collect something, rather than nothing.

I have documented some of the corruption of the CCHD program over the years. However, our colleague over at Restore DC Catholicism, has a number of postings on the corruption of the CCHD. Go over, and take a look at these postings.

The CCHD Collection in the Archdiocese of Washington

Folks, due to a number of other pressing issues (work, family, etc.), I did not get the opportunity to post about the CCHD collection this past weekend.

It seems that the Archdiocese has decided to move up the collection from later in the year to now and to re-name it.

Our colleague over at Restore DC Catholicism has all of the lurid details about this deception. Seems the Communications folks have been working overtime on this one.

Archdiocese of Washington...Egg on Face?

One year ago today, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington and Catholic Charities USA awarded the first national “Keep the Dream Alive Mass and Award" to Ralph McCloud. Mr. McCloud is the Director of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C.

At the time, I chided the Archdiocese for this move because it was under his watch, that money went to ACORN and other groups opposed to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Well, it seems that Mr. McCloud has been a very busy man. Your see our colleagues over at Restore DC Catholcism pointed out that:

Ralph McCloud, while working in his capacity as CCHD director, worked as campaign treasurer for Texan Wendy Davis. The public record is here. Ms Davis was endorsed by Planned Parenthood. Unfortunately, Davis defeated her pro-life opponent.

Therefore we can conclude that Ralph McCloud worked directly against a candidate who would have helped unborn children and worked for someone who would facilitate their murder.

That campaign itself ran afoul of some ethics guidelines. Planned Parenthood of North Texas was fined several thousand dollars for not reporting just how much money they gave to Davis' campaign.

No wonder why money went to anti-Catholic groups. The director was helping out someone who was pro-abortion.

I wonder if the Catholic Standard will report this? Will they ask for their award back? The should but they won't.

Once again, more egg on the face of the Archdiocese of Washington.

Catholic Standard Weekly Update

Yes, folks...it is that time (trumpets blare, women swoon, children cheer, etc.) for the Weekly Update of the Catholic Standard.

We have an two articles focusing on Cardinal George of Chicago: Protection of Iraqi Catholics and the Health Care debate.

You know, I was thinking, how many people and groups stood up against the burning of the Koran, but when terrorists (Muslim terrorists to be exact) enter a Catholic Church and murder people in prayer, not a sound is uttered by the President et al.

There is a story on the National Council of Catholic Women and one of their speakers -- Sr. Carol Keehan. Yes, the same Sr. Carol Keehan who fully supported the Most Merciful's Health Care program. She says: "We need to be utterly intolerant of trashing other people in the Church." Well then Sr. K, then support life and not a pro-abortion president. Sorry, you reap what you sow.

Again, we hear about supporting CCHD as a way of "giving Thanks to the Lord." Tell me, is the way of giving thanks to support those groups that oppose us? I don't think so.

According to the article, it seems that our Catholic funds went to pay for two libraries and youth recreation centers in Ward 8? Personally, I would have thought that it is something that taxpayer dollars were to be used for. I mean the Archdiocese is having difficulty building a recreation center at the corner of Randolf and Georgia Ave., for the CYO program and yet, we are more than willing to spend $$ on things that we pay taxes for.

We have a full page on the different things you can do in regards to the Consistory. You can wear red (lame), you can send a spiritual bouquet (good), you can watch it live (good) or participate in a Holy Hour (good).

Congratulation to Sr. Rynn, the Principal of Little Flower School. She received the 2010 National Distinguished Principal Award by the NAESP. Congrats.

Congrats also Archbishop Carroll for honoring Fr. Leslie Branch.

And, let us thank/congratulate the following schools:

  • St. Mary in Bryantown for their charitable work for the Foundation of Children w/ Cancer.
  • Annunciation in DC for their support of "Treas 4 Our Troops"
  • St. Peter's for honoring their Principal on Veterans Day.
  • Archbishop Neale School (La Plata) for winning first place in the Careers Category of the Charles Co. Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Festival.

Great story on the Run for Vocations during the Marine Corp Marathon.

Well folks, that's it for this week. Tune in next week when we will review the "Collectors Edition of the Catholic Standard" on the Consistory.

A Correction...on the St. Joseph Elementary School Story

Well, one of my readers pointed out to me that I probably misunderstood the numbers and the Standard article on St. Joseph in Beltsville. Yes, he was correct.

I have correct the numbers in the article. The loss of students was actually worse than I originally understood.

This is really turning into a slow moving disaster for Catholic education in this Archdiocese.

Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

In my review of the Archdiocese of Washington educational policies, such as the elimination of discounts to families with multiple children in Catholic schools, you will notice that they are trying to push everyone through the TAP program.

Now, one of the most interesting things is that there are no guidelines as to who is or is not eligible, so you cannot determine if you should or should not apply. So, in addition to being totally subjective, as far as I can tell, you have to pay a fee to give up a great deal of personal information.

++++

On a separate note, one of my reader's informed me that there is an effort underway to get all Catholics to wear red on Nov. 19th in honor of the elevation of Cardinal-elect Wuerl.

Who's STUPID idea was that over in Hyattsville? I will wear black.

What color do you think we should wear on Friday?

Not One Thin Dime to CCHD

Remember when I wrote a short time ago about CCHD putting a bandage on the issue? Well guess, what? They cannot even do it right from the very start. Forget the theologian. CCHD and USCCB needs some basic research skills.

You can read about it here first

And more here.

BOYCOTT CCHD

Once again, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) collection will be taken up the weekend of Nov. 20 and Nov. 21.

We know the problems, we know that there was a "secret" report that was sent to the Catholic bishops at the end of August (but was not reported in the Catholic Standard) about the problems and the solutions.

Having read the Executive Summary, they are just putting bandages on the problem.

Therefore...I am calling, with many of my other blogging colleagues, for a complete and total BOYCOTT OF CCHD.

That is the only way that Cardinal-elect Wuerl and the other bishops will get the message.

Note: You will see a reminder of this boycott on every posting until Nov. 22nd.

Review and Renewal: CCHD

Well, the USCCB has issues a report on the Review and Renewal of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

Let me say up front, that I have not read the report, but from all indications, there seems to have been some "tweeking" but not much substantive change. If I get a chance to read it, I will but I am still calling for a SHUT DOWN OF CCHD.

Why? First, money donated by Catholics should be going to Catholic organizations. Period. Second, considering how they have handled this mess over the last few years, I do not have any trust that they will clean it up. End of story.

SHUT DOWN CCHD!

For more on the CCHD issue, go to Catholic News Agency.

CCHD funding Obama's Health Care Supporters?

President Obama and administration officials are rallying religious leaders to “spread the word” on new health care legislation to reinforce public support and to raise awareness about the effects of new insurance reforms.

The organization People Improving Communities through Organizing (PICO) is reportedly planning to distribute 50,000 door hangers in lower-income communities within the next two weeks. PICO regularly meets with the administration and last week participated in an HHS-run call for faith-based groups.

For more, go to Catholic News Agency.

If I remember correctly (and I don't have time to fully research), PICO and PICO related groups have and are receiving CCHD money.
