O'Malley a Practicing Catholic?

On Tuesday, January 1, 2015  Mr. John Wagner of the Washington comPost, published an article on the commuting of Death Row cases.  He stated that:  "A practicing Catholic, O'Malley argued that executions are not cost effective, do not deter murders and are at odds with 'values as a people."

Really?

Let's see where to begin here...

  • Why does he throw this fact in?  Is is to help give O'Malley cover on the issue?  To give him the "in" with leftist Catholics?
  • O'Malley is not a practicing Catholic, as he is a supporter of abortion and homosexual marriage.
  • You can be a faithful Catholic and support the Death Penalty.  I do not trust our justice system, as I believe that eventually, those on Death Row will get out.

What a waste of newsprint.

Gay Marriage Supports Must be Running Scared...

The Tuesday, Washington comPost reported that Gov. O'Malley will attend a fundraiser in NYC at the James Hotel on Sept. 13th.  Tickets go from $250 to $25K.  In attendance will be Sarah Jessica Parker (put a bag over the face sweetheart), Susan Sarandon (a darling of the left) and a couple of others.

I mean really gays, I mean guys. If you cannot raise enough money in Maryland,  then it shows you are really in bad shape.

However, we can show them -- simply VOTE NO on Question 6 in November.

Oh, and while you are at it, VOTE NO on Question 4.

The Church According to Governor O'Malley

Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley’s recently announced his decision to support a bill to legalize gay “marriage” in the upcoming Maryland legislative session. This decision has been a spectacle, to be sure, considering his professed Catholic faith. But perhaps more shocking than his flip-flop on the issue is where this “evolution” of thinking has led him—to a place of complete contradiction with himself.

When his decision drew immediate criticism from the Catholic Conference of Maryland and from Baltimore Archbishop Edwin O’Brien, who called the act one of “pure political expediency,” O’Malley responded in a letter, saying, among other things, that he has come to view the policy of treating same-sex relationships different from marriages as “unjust.” In doing so he declared his sincere willingness to be seen as a sham from both sides of the gay marriage issue.

To read the rest of this, please go to LifeSiteNews.com

NB: The only issue that I have with this article, is that it makes no mention of the failure by our Cardinal to call out O'Malley on this issue.

O'Malley and Archbishop O'Brien on Gay Marriage

Two days before Gov. Martin J. O’Malley announced his July 22 decision to sponsor legislation legalizing same-sex marriage in Maryland, Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien sent him a private letter urging O’Malley – a Catholic – to “refrain” from promoting the redefinition of marriage.

The governor's office decided to make the letter from the Archbishop public, as well as, his response.

You can read all about it here.

O'Malley and Gay Marriage

Nope, Governor O'Malley is not gay and is not planning a gay marriage ceremony. (Unless there is someone out there who knows something I do not.)

It has been reported that he will probably sponsor an gay marrage bill in the next General Assembly session.

I look forward to seeing what the Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) does and especially the actions of Cardinal Wuerl. Will he take a hard stance? Will he deny O'Malley and other politicans a venue at Catholic institutions? Will he deny Holy Communion?

We will be watching closely.

Help Stop Same Sex Marriage Bill in MD (SB116)

Once again, we see MD politicians once again bring forward a bill that would recognize same sex marriage.

Our own "Catholyc" Governor is at the forefront of this. Here are the other Catholyc politicians: State Senator Robert Garagiola and State Delegates Heather Mizeur, Anne Healey, Kathleen Dumais, Pete Hammen, Joseline Pena-Melnyk, Victor Ramirez and Mary Washington.

Heather Mizeur, should be noted is not only a lesbian but a parishioner at St. Al's on I St. I wonder if the pastor has had a chat w/ her on this matter. I wonder if she receives Holy Communion.

Although writing to some of our MD legislators is a waste of time, do it.

To the Archdiocese, it is time to stop cozying up to them.

But more importantly, remember then at election time and vote them out.

++++

UPDATE (8am):
In reviewing the list of politicians, it seems that a couple of them do live in the Archdiocese of Washington: Kathleen Dumais (she also voted against BOAST), Robert Garagiola (voted against BOAST), Anne Healey), Joseline Pena-Melnyk, and Victor Ramirez.

Okay Cardinal Wuerl, will you (or someone you designate) have a chat w/ them? And if they continue to vote against Catholic teachings, will you deny them Holy Communion? Personally, I doubt it.

Suddenly, he supports us...

According to Catholic News Service (CNS) dated: March 10, 2010:

A business tax credit benefiting public and nonpublic schools received a major boost when Gov. Martin J. O'Malley threw his public support behind the long-sought measure. The Senate Budget and Taxation Committee voted 10-5 to send the proposal to the Senate, but discussion on the floor planned for March 10 was held up a day so one Democratic lawmaker could prepare an amendment to ensure that special needs children have access to private schooling. The bill itself would establish a business tax credit known as BOAST, or Building Opportunities for All Students and Teachers in Maryland. It would grant businesses a 75 percent state income tax credit for donations to scholarship organizations for nonpublic school students. It also would support enrichment programs in public schools and professional development for public and private school teachers. "The BOAST bill will increase scholarships for children in low- and middle-income families and stabilize enrollment in nonpublic schools," O'Malley said in a March 3 letter to the Senate committee. "I believe the bill is crucial if we are to stem the tide of private school closures in the state." O'Malley said school closures "represent a loss of educational diversity and opportunity for our students and will ultimately increase costs and enrollment pressures on our public school systems." Support for the tax credit found a sense of urgency after the Baltimore Archdiocese announced March 4 what it called a consolidation plan affecting 13 schools -- 12 elementary and one secondary. Under the plan the schools will close next fall, with each of those schools paired with a receiving school to accept its students.

Did you notice that the ultimate reason is he is worred about the increase in budget expenditures? He knows that every child in a Caholic school saves the State of Maryland and local governments $12,000.

I wonder if he would feel the same if there was an economic boom?

The Catholic Standard touts Governor O'Malley's Catholicism

Well, the good folks at the Catholic Standard (July 17, 2008, page 4) have once again shown that the Archdiocese of DC will do whatever they can to "curry-favor" with pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage politicians, when it comes to something they want. I call it the "Cardinal McCarrick" School of Thought.*

Let's take a look at their latest article (print only) entitled: Baltimore auxiliary bishop joins Maryland death penalty commission. In it, they state that:

The commission includes 13 members appointed by Maryland's Catholic governor and represents a diversity of views.

Suddenly, we can point out that he is Catholic and that his opposition to the death penalty shows that Catholics are united against this. Yet, I don't seem to remember a time when they point out that Catholic O'Malley is pro-abortion and pro-homosexual marriage in a regular article.

Do you?

Tell Governor O'Malley NOT to sign SB566 or SB597

Two bills that undermine the institution of marriage by granting marriage equivalency to unmarried couples in the health and tax statutes could become law as soon as May 13 unless they are vetoed by Gov. Martin O'Malley.

SB 566 and SB 597 are seriously problematic. Under the bills, any two people - same-sex, or of opposite sexes - can gain state recognition as domestic partners if they jointly rent a car, jointly rent an apartment, and sign an affidavit that they are in an "interdependent" relationship. There is no requirement that the affidavit be filed with any agency, or even notarized. Domestic partnerships can be dissolved merely by signing another affidavit. SB 566 and SB 597 allow those domestic partnerships to be treated the same as marriages in parts of the health and tax statutes.

SB 566 grants medical decision-making rights to domestic partners. However, those benefits are already available to ALL couples in Maryland through advance directives and powers of attorney. SB 597 exempts domestic partners and former domestic partners from recordation and transfer taxes.
